This guy challenged me a year ago to a 1v1 and lost. He trained for a whole year, with the hope of finally beating me! Let's see if his training arc is complete!

  • 2:55 is exactly how En Passant was invented in Chess.

    @ZeroFate643@ZeroFate64317 күн бұрын
    • ok but en passant makes logical sense- like if you have a soldier with a spear/some other polearm (which is what pawns represent) and an enemy soldier is trying to rush past you, you're gonna stab him, it's why you can only make en passant on the turn after the other person moved their pawn, and only that turn- it basically represents the pawnA attacking the pawnB at the same time when the pawnB was trying to rush past the pawnA, and if you do something else on that turn, you can't then en passant 3 turns later when you finally have a position ready- the opportunity has passed, the pawnB is no longer trying to rush past the pawnA's pike.

    • @@IndependentObserver Ok smartie, then why the queen is stronger than any knight, militia or a cleric? or a building?????

      @martin-dw@martin-dw17 күн бұрын
    • @@martin-dw 1. It used to be a lot weaker- the "queen" piece was either a lame bishop- only going 1 square diagonally in all directions, or a lame rook, it was only buffed in the XV century "Spain" patch. 2. Because it's not a queen. English language is ret***ed and that's how you translated it, but in the original Iranian it was a wazir- which, at the time when chess was becoming a thing, was a high ranking military commander and a counsellor. Other countries- ex. Poland still keep that and call that chess piece "hetman" which historically used to be their high ranking military officer. Basically, if we were to go back to the old naming scheme from before Queen Isabel's reign- we wouldn't call that piece a "queen", but a "field marshal", which would also explain why pawns can turn into one- as we all know, "all soldiers carry a marshal's baton in their knapsack." and stop the tumblr users from creating harem fanfics about chess.

      @IndependentObserver@IndependentObserver17 күн бұрын
    • @@IndependentObserver i mean, still is game it doesn't have to make sense, like i dont think (maybe in that era worked like that) that a high rank military commander fight better than a guy that is fighting all the day. And talking about language. in spanish The bishop is called "alfil" that means in arabic "the elphant" but to us means literally nothing aside of the chess piece, and the knight? to us is just "caballo" that means "horse" so isn't as, you know, fancy

  • I just came to the realization that I’ve been an esports fan for about the same amount of time that my youngest son has been alive. Back when he was born in March of 05 I was on wc3replays downloading every Grubby replay and arguing in the comments with the NE fans over who was better, Grubby or Moon, and which hero, BM or DH was better. My son is now significantly closer to the age that I was at that time than me. And here I am 18 or 19 years later. Time flies

This happened when I was aroud 8 yrs old.
