  • I'm a beginner Carp Angler (in experience only {Im 58 yrs old😉}) from the USA. I’ve heard your name (and references to your incredible angling history) mentioned on YT about a thousand times and finally came across one of your videos. I loved it! As you likely know, we don't have many (if any) professional/Legendary carp anglers over here. So I’m forced to live out my carp fishing dreams vicariously through many of the great Channels/Anglers I find on KZhead. You've now been added to my list👍 For certain, I'll be binge-watching as many of your videos as time allows. - Joe

  • Had some good doubles by Ironbridge power station 20 plus years ago. Used to get large pike attacking the swimfeeders. Used to tie a treble to the feeder and use them as a lure. Down the river at 3 in the morning. Happy days😊😊😊😊

  • Watching and listening to Des Taylor is always a great pleasure. It's funny to be German while all my favourite anglers are Britons. There must be a reason for that, and I think it's just the relaxed way of talking about fishing and not taking it deadly seriously.

    • @@Natureandfishing Thank you for asking. Well, yes, I live near Düsseldorf and we have the River Rhine and countless gravel pits with partially massive fish (carp, pike, tench, bream, catfish, sturgeon and so on). Barbels can be found in the River Rhine but it is a It is a large stream, and heavily optimised for shipping, so you have to come to terms with it. There aren't that many rivers like the Severn nearby. It would mean travelling hundreds kilometres to find similar conditions. I don't have the time to do so. That's also part of the appeal of watching British fishing videos. Despite the fact that the UK is also a densely populated country, you can obviously find spots that look very picturesque, at least in the videos. I was just fishing today in one of the syndicate lakes where I am a member and due to the quite cold water I could only catch one bream using "the method". I was secretly hoping for a carp but being realistic, I knew the chance would be rather small. Anyway, I didn't blank so it was a good day.

  • I fished from about 11-18, on the Witham, canals and reservoirs so never had the opportunity to catch Barbel. When caring for my late dad after cancer diagnosis I took it up again, this time on the Trent.....soon introduced to the beauty and majesty of the Barbel! I only weigh fish if I think they're heavier than I'd caught before. My best was 14lb 3oz on sweetcorn. Probably my favourite Barbel catch though was a pristine 12/14" long fish, probably never caught. Fingers crossed he/she is still going strong!

I lived in England in the 70s and early 80s and still have all my rods, rod case, umbrella and even my little green box seat with my tackle. Sadly it just isn’t done that way across the pond here in the states. My dad’s rod which is with my rods is in the old leather rod bag was never used and still has the plastic on the cork handle from 40years ago…He passed away before he was able to fish with it. 😢
