Razer's Kaira Pro Dual Wireless is a gaming headset that hits hard, vibrates, looks sexy AF, and is reasonably priced too, but there's a catch...

  • I’m a bass head, so the haptics sound fantastic. My Skullcandy crushers kicked the bucket and I’m looking into streaming, so these seem like a good fit 😸

  • I'm a bit cautious because I previously has the razer kraken v3 hypersense and it would not stop that mechanical noise, so if the haptics are on, there are no mechanical screeches? and how loud is it? - replied earlier...

  • I bought one a few days ago. It's worth noting there's a second built-in mic after you remove the detachable mic which sounds much better - though it picks up a lot of ambient noise. Another point that a lot of people have asked me about is wether you can connect via Bluetooth and talk on chat (discord,Skype etc)while gaming using the wireless 2.4, and I can't seem to. That's a big point for some users as they play cross platform games and want to chat privately with friends. The Xbox version lets you, but it doesn't have haptics. Other than that I'm really loving them!

    • Oh yeah, I totally forgot to mention the built-in mic. I experimented with it but it was so underwhelming I guess I didn't even bother to write it into the script 😅 I know it sounded significantly worse to me without any tweaking than the detachable mic though. That's an interesting point about the Bluetooth and 2.4 going at the same time. I never really thought about it because I only ever stream and game on PC. If it is a feature the Xbox version had that this one doesn't then I can see that definitely being a big deal to a bunch of people. I'll have to remember to see things from a cross-platform perspective more the next time I review something like this. Appreciate your input!

  • Can you replace the mic on this headset? Just curious. Thanks for your review!! I really enjoyed it. Best review yet.

    • Appreciate it! I honestly have no idea whether you'd be able to plug a different mic into the port on the headset. I know there are physical restrictions, like the mic and port having flat parts on one side which would make plugging in a different mic almost impossible. I wouldn't be surprised if they also block/hinder other mics via software.

  • I'm confused by the comment of stating that you don't need any apps? In fact there are TWO apps! One is similar to the chroma program and the second is what you actually need to customize and pick your sounds and EQ settings. Every home is built differently... Some people have more furniture than others... Some have their setups really close and others have at a distance... So both apps are definitely necessary in order for you to adjust what EQs are best for you. You do not adjust these with your PC. All you do is download both apps and the adjustments are afterwards saved on your headset. Mine sounded perfectly fine and some people prefer the second mic to the first mic. You could have done a comparison using the secondary mic to see what sounded better. Just my two cents.

    • That's reassuring to know, lol. Didn't have the same good experience with the mic as you can hear from the testing, and Razer told me that they've heard similar complaints about it from other reviewers. Maybe you just got lucky with yours 🤔

    • The G PRO X is very solid, I don't think going for the Kaira would be an upgrade even if you want wireless and the haptics. I suspect it would be more like a "side grade".

    • @@miked6097 There are a bunch of online stores in the US that sell prebuilt systems, and more than a couple here in SA too. Wherever you're located, I'm sure there are reputable sellers if you check online. As for where to start, get a budget, check what systems fall into that budget, and then find a review or two for the CPU and GPU in those systems and go from there. Or give me your budget and I'll suggest a CPU and GPU for you then you just need to find a prebuilt with those parts.

    • @@miked6097 Born and raised here, so 30 years, lol. That's a great budget for a gaming PC, for that budget you should be getting a near top-of-the-range system. It would probably be a good idea to wait another month before actually buying a new system. There are new parts launching soon that might shake things up a lot. In the meantime, check for systems that include an RTX 3080 GPU or better, and either a core i7-12700K or Ryzen 7 5800X/5800X3D CPU.

    • Sorry, didn't catch this reply. I think if the noise on the Hypersense bothered you that much, then you're probably better off going for a headset with no haptics... On or off, you're going to kind of hear/feel the motors moving. It's not screechy or anything like that, just the muffled sound of the mechanics moving.
