Haha, I keep stumbling upon your reviews, you've really covered every one of my options. Can't wait for you to get your hands on the Yoga Pro :D
I would really like that too!
thank you so much for the video!! i was thinking about these two laptops for a long, but now i understand which one is better especially for me, so i really appreciate your work!
Thanks for this video! 👌 I am choosing my new laptop and exactly between this two!😁
What did you choose? And how is it going with you?
Hii ! Could You Please Tell Me Which One Is A Winner In Terms of Battery And How long the battery last ?
I really like the sound in my Lenovo Yoga Slim 7 and I am very surprised that it is even better in Macbook air 2020
I was too - but it's clear. There's more bass and it gets a little louder.
I was also very surprised when I heard the sound of the Yoga, I love it

I'm thinking of upgrade from my Dell 3310 2-in-1 to the Lenovo yoga or thinkpad
Well I brought the Lenovo yoga 9i 16gb 512 ssd
Thank you for this very informative Video! Which of the two has the better overall durability?
I think they are pretty similar but if I have to choose one I'd go for the Macbook. The quality feel is a bit better.
@@w2best Thank you very much for the quick answer. I have now decided to go for the Slim 7 Pro because of the overall compatibility in different software infrastructures and the price-performance aspect. It was a tough decision :D but your videos helped me!
Hi, Which do you think is better, lenoyo yoga slim 7 or dell vostro 5402. I am really confused about which one to choose. Can you give a recommendation, please? thank you
Thank you for a great video! :-)
I'm glad you like it :)
Hi. Thanks for your videos. I am wondering, how often these yoga slim 7 come with screen that has factory defects (something like dead pixels) or other issues (for example with dynamics)? I am reading now quite controversial reviews in the internet from those, who purchased this laptop. Many thanks
I have had 3 units in total. The first one had a broken webcam but none had defect screen! But a quite high number of people have had issues. I just had a little bit back light bleed, but that is for all laptops pretty much!
@@w2best wow, that is a quite rich experience with this laptop. thanks for sharing
My MacBook air's graphic card is broken and it is really expensive to get repaired so I will buy a new laptop but I cannot decide which one to choose, btw even if I buy MacBook I need to set up BootCamp to use some special programs. Should I choose MBA pro intel i5 1TB hard disk or Lenovo 16 GB i7 1TB hard disk?
Hi, I'm a photographer and I need a portable device to edit my photos on the go or when traveling. I have the budget for both laptos. I mainly use Photoshop Lightroom and some short video editing from time to time. Which one would you recommend? Amazing reviews as always! Wetdream for those of us who want to purchase and not regret the very same day!
You can choose either. They have plenty of power for your use case!
Hey man. Bought a Yoga Slim 7 after your fantastic reviews. My screen seems to have a yellowish tint though, and sometimes text is blurry. Is this a quality control issue or am I doing something wrong?
Hmm, did you try altering anything in the AMD Radeon app? Blurry text sounds super weird though! I can't see what would be causing that. Blurry allover the screen?
I would err on the side of QC, but try running ClearType first I guess?
@@w2best Thanks for your reply! I haven't altered anything in the app. Some texts is fine, but some is fuzzy.
@@TerrifyingBird I've tried and it didn't work! :( Thanks for your response though
I think the blurred text is a scaling problem in windows 10. When you have 125-150% instead of 100%, some windows will increase with the loss of clarity. Try switching to a 100% zoom and check. Good luck.
Bought the Yoga Slim 7 4700U after watching many reviews - Have had no quality control issues with this beauty! Edit: I am actually having mic trouble after a few weeks of use..

I see... intel was right that cinebench mulitcore results do not always translate well into real world performance especially for productivity - video editing, coding, office, solidworks etc. One has to be careful. I wonder how they differ in MATLAB for instance. If you include these in your reviews that would be awesome. Its hard to find reviews that cover these.
I have never used mathlab - is it free? I think this is more about compatibility though. It's so sad that it doesn't work well with davinci!
@@w2best Matlab is not free unfortunately but I think they may have a way to benchmark it that may be done without a license but im not sure. Yes it is sad that it doesn't work with davinci as it is a big favourite.
@@mujimusa Ok I will look into that! I want to expand on the benchmarks I do although it takes SO MUCH time when making reviews with many benchmarks...
@@w2best It does take a lot of time unfortunately. Would be nice if a script for automatically running them all could be written.
Could you tell about the differences between the cameras on both laptops and thank you very much for giving so easily understandable informations for me who is not firm in those topics
in my bag the macbook camera is better in decent light conditions, but it really drops in quality when there's less light. Then they are pretty similar. The windows hello and auto login of the yoga I find great. You sit down by it - and then you are logged in. But these cams are very simple. It's not for any fancy meetings or streaming.
@@w2best Thanks for for answering!
A comparison after 3 years would be interesting. After two Lenovo (Yoga 500 and Yoga C740) I also switched to Apple because the hardware disappointed me (hinges, power supply socket and fan).I wish I could have a windows machine with the Hardware of an apple.
I cannot stress how much I feel you. Apple just has the best hardware on their laptops but I fucking hate the OS. I'm using an m1 macbook air and I would love to just switch this thing into a windows.
Here is another reason to choose a Lenovo, Macs have a flaw that causes it to short near the CPU. In other words, goodbye expensive mac. Can't repair it. Apple has this a thing about making money by purposely making flaws. That's something to really consider.
that happened to mine once - but with the logic board. Very expensive repair and very annoying...
You are describing planned obsolescence. Most manufacturers are guilty of that.
Memory Swap.. that’s M1s enemy. When something happens or fails in that integrated SSD.. you have to throw everything away
Thanks for the review. It helps though😊👍 but I'm still confused hehe Which one would u choose MBA m1 16gb ram, 256gb or Yoga Duet 7i 16gb 512gb? Or yoga slim 7i carbon? Thanks😊
If you don't need the ports and 2 external monitors it's hard to beat the m1... It's got the performance and cooling at a very good price
I'm a business professional who is currently lugging around an old and heavy Lenovo i5 laptop. All I need are 1. lag free performance 2. seamless typing experience 3. Light weight 4. Windows I haven't chosen the MBA yet because its price + its not windows. Will the Yoga 7 be a better alternative for my use case? Will the build quality of the yoga deteriorate more over time comparatively? Are there other machines which are about 30% less price compared to the mba
Mate, Yoga 7i Pro will be better for you because it's have dedicated graphics mx450
Or U can choose Hp envy amd ryzen 7 4700u
Because it's more cheap and the performance is super good
Please do MB air M1 vs Slim 7 mate. 😁
It might happen at some point! But it will not be my highest priority now!
I have lenovo ideapad flex 5. I will buy macbook air m1 next year just for the experience I am extremely happy with my lenovo as some softwares I use, work only in windows

HEY W2 do you know how to unlock the fingerprint scanner on the power button for European versions of the lenovo yoga slim 7? Because on the US version it works out of the box.

Of course SLIM 7!
Slim 7 anyday
Slim 7
The Yoga slim 7, Macks are pricey but under - performing, except the screen the rotten apple has nothing but an insatiated greed !
slim 7 for sure
Managed to get my hands on a Yoga Slim 7 with ryzen 7 4800U, 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD for like 900$, but im thinking of getting a macbook air m1 instead because i've never had a macbook but it costs like 1250$ with 8GB RAM and 256 GB SSD. It's gonna be used for studies, do you think it's worth to return it and get the macbook air m1? Was also thinking of learning how to edit videos and I think a macbook would be a better choice since I can use final cut pro on it.
100% no. I feel like you're joking with me? You got your hands on the best 14" laptop on the market the last decade and you want to switch it for an m1!?! Don't do it! Where did you get it at that price? :)
@@w2best I know it sounds crazy. The slim is clearly more powerful and also way cheaper but I mainly want to get the m1 to try out macOS , for the better screen and to be able to get Final Cut Pro. I got it from Komplett but I believe it is sold out now…
@@gladlystorm I think it makes no sense. :P
I got 3900+ on Cinebench 20 with my 4800U Yoga Slim 7 maxed out on a recent rerun I did. ;) Also more than 7200 consistently in Geekbench 5 :) I notice that a key factor in that is the temperature of the environment. I got a boost with scores once I replaced the thermal paste of the CPU and a bit more when I started using it on a cooling pad. It doesn't get warm at all but the idea is to keep it the coolest possible so that the internal fans work the least possible. Probably the cooler it runs the longer it can throtle hence the increase in the bench scores ;) For the SSD score, mine has the 1TB SK Hynix and I get 3300+MB/s. I don't remember the write speed. I will update the post with the results. There is a small issue with the camera always changing something like the white balance? I notice the image getting darker and then coming back when on skype calls and it does it like it runs an algorithm on loop... Who knows? I'll watch it closely.
Oh my the 4800u scores are just insane. :P I really want to try but now I'm stuck with this one for a while doing my last testing videos and then trying to find a replacement :P
I have the slim7i pro, but wondering if the M1 MacBook Air is better. It’s cheaper for me too!
Hi has anyone notice when opening a picture or video the screen looks a bit bright for like 2 seconds (like it lacks contrast and gets overexposed) and then it changes and looks normal. I've noticed this since day one. I do not know if it is normal?
No actually never had that issue on my Yoga...
I wonder how the glossy screen variant of the Yoga 7 would stack up in terms of the display. glossy screens generally look like they have deeper blacks to me for some reason.
Interesting question! I believe there are no yoga slim 7 with glossy screen in Scandinavia - at least I haven't seen one so it's hard to test that part. You might be right!
@@w2best there is only glossy screen option in my country 😂😂😂
I thought the same thing, I have the matte version but with Dolby vision supported on it, blacks are as black as can be and it's really good.
I also have the glossy version with dolby vision and mine also has very good black levels, better than any screen I have used for a sufficiently long time. It appears Lenovo uses different panels in the laptop, at least 3 different models as far as I have read, and they perform quite differently, apparently.
Some have UHD, mine is FHD and i'm not sure about the last one.
There's two versions of Yoga Slim 7 on my store. Intel Core i7-1165G7 / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD and Ryzen 7 4700U / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD / Grey. Which one would you recommend. i7 worth it? Also how is the build quality of the computer? does it feel cheap plastic that easily bends under pressure, example when lifting it.
What's the price difference? And is the i7 with the mx graphics or only xe? Build quality is amazing imo. I have covered it in a few of my many reviews :p there's no plastic in it so def doesn't feel plastic.
@@w2best about 200 usd difference. i7 has Iris Xe Graphics
@@JosephTekle i have had issues with video editing in Davinci resolve in the Ryzen models. If you need that I recommend Intel. If you need thunderbolt Intel is the way. Except that the 4700u performance will be better in both cpu and gpu so for the cheaper price i think it's easy to choose. :)
Very good comparison, i dont know if you have tried to adjust the display settings in AMD Radeon software, Video, and you can select preset like cinema classic or enhanced etc, i have selected -6 brightness, but i dont think it only effects brightness , i think it is more of a dynamic control that adjusts contrast as well. the washed out look is gone. as for the audio, you will need the Lenovo Vantage app, under audio setting select Music, this gave me a fuller sound. hope this helps

I think so, according to the Labo Fnac (a french brand) it has some excellent marks in "battery" "photo designing" "good for work" BUT it could have been better in "audio" and "screen"
I would say it is! The only downside might be full hd screen, but you might have external monitor?
Where the camera comparison?
I lost the Macbook Air footage so there's no camera comparison. But the Slim 7 is shit and the Macbook Air is pretty good.
This proves so many people's points, including mine. With apple, this shows (at least with the model shown in the video) that all you're paying for is the brand because something that is much cheaper has way better specs.
i got both, but i still prefer lenovo yoga
What do you prefer in the Lenovo? I'm hesitating btw the M1 and a Windows laptop
Hey What would you suggest? Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i (i5-1035G1, MX350, 8GB Ram Soldered) OR Dell Inspiron 5000 series 5408 (i5-1035G1, MX330, 8GB upto 32 GB expandability and upto 2 1TB Nvme SSDs). Both at around US $1,000. I really really wanna go for the Lenovo but budget constraints aren't allowing me to do so. And the pricing is way worse here in New Delhi, India. (16 GB RAM variant only comes with i7-1065G7, priced at US $1,500). What choice you'd have made? And yes unfortunately I'm a power user so that doesn't help in this either. :P This is gonna be my first laptop! Excited for the same. :)
Out of the two? It's so depending on what you'd use it for! If you think screen, speakers and trackpad are the only important points of a laptop - go macbook air! If you want performance and ports and price matters to you - go slim 7.
I am in same dilemma plz tell which one you bought and why?

The 15 inch has Intel 45w cpu which should give you quite a lot of power but the 4700u and 4800u in the 14 inch are faster despite being 15w chips. You have gtx1650 in the 15" right? I wouldn't buy it without the gpu!

Yeah that's probably the only con to it :/ It's probably fine if you're no power user. But if I'm gonna use it for working I'm gonna need the 16gb
I'm gonna use it for university use. A lot of coding and almost none to little gaming. And you're right, at the price, that's the literal only con in there.

To be honest anything can do for university work if all you do is write documents. I had a trash laptop that costs like 200 dollars and it worked fantastically. Good thing about it was it weight only like 1500 grams which is important

@@mdtanvinahsan7556 I don't make anything for other youtubers... I will talk about the product from my use cases. I couldn't talk about using something i never use So you will have to live with 1 minute video editing content in an 18 min video.
@@w2best I like this comment for so many reasons
@@Le_Nutt Which one of them? :P
I would pick the Slim 7! The MacBook is so overpriced and it has bad performance so slim 7
I agree, for most parts at least :)
Not anymore with the MacBooks with the M1 chip. Lolz
@@st.michaelthearchangel7774 I KNOW!! Great timing I bought this one just before. But I'm not using it myself anyhow. But the macbook air just got 1000% more intersting with M1!
@@st.michaelthearchangel7774 and 8gb ram lol
Lol tell that to the m1 chip
You said the mac has a taller screen but they’re the same height lol
Well - it's a 16:10 aspect ratio so it's def. taller in proportion :)
Apple and quality control..ask Louis Rossman
All he does is complain about everything
I gues after the M1 the battle ist over 😁
Not really imo. With not being able to run multiple monitors on M1 I don't think it's a viable office machine.
lenovo yoga slim7 very good i see the one who do the vido he love mack soo i dont like what he sayed a bout lenovo cos yoga one of good models
Well I've now been using Lenovo yoga slim 7 as my main laptop for 6 months. I've not been using a Mac actively the last 3 years except when testing this one out. I also made roughly 20 videos on the slim 7, so i can assure you I like it.
@@w2best ahh k my bad thx for show the deferents cos im plan to buy yoga slim 7 cos i see mac it not bad cos i have it its good , thx a lot for show
go for 1.25x speed
Yes, it's hard to talk quick enough on your second language.
If a procduct is comparable with Apple product, it's a good product.
Good statement :)
The strongest point is that the Yoga isnt Apple. I am not going to spend 2000 dollars on a fruit.
Aren't both laptops the same price?
macos will always be better than windows and its ad machine
The cooperative wren curiosly scream because face undeniably kick unlike a slim cocktail. tricky, brown news
