A friend of mine let me take a spin on his Yamaha Super Ténéré 1200. I had no time on this bike before, so this was a first ride.
I was quite impressed to say the least.

Best review of the S10 I have ever seen yet. Tricking the ABS like that is new to me. S10 owners I know love their bikes. Cruise control, heated grips, ES (now standard on the 2024), ABS, traction control, 6 gal fuel tank, cornering on the slab, touring comfort, shaft drive!, balance, stability, reliability, cost efficiency, Japanese quality, off roading (better than non-owners say)...this is a true hidden gem of big bore ADV.
They’re awesome bikes
6 Gallon tank is not close to usable, you can use about 4.5 gallons of the tank
The Super Tenere is a bang for your buck motorcycle. I have a 2020. If you stay up on the maintenance they are bulletproof. One thing to keep in mind. They are a road bike. Concrete, asphalt, dirt, or gravel it doesn’t matter the type of road, but they are not a trail bike. If you want to ride trails buy a dirt bike.
Don't tell me what to do.
@@GrizzlyDaddams Nobody told you what to do junior. Maybe it was the voices in your head.
It will handle a lot more than you think it can. The trick is to keep it moving forward. I've had mine on some single-track, but I wouldn't make a habit of it.
it is more reliable than the bmw R 1250 gs adventure? @@Chance-ry1hq I'm aiming to a bulletproof engine just like you said, want to know if this one can be...
Yeah, you'll love life if you get a good trail dirt bike. Like a KTM, but if you try it on a fuel sport it'll suck.
Absolutely bullet proof machine. Great bike
It’s closer to 6 us gal fuel tank. Love mine. It’s a Swiss Army knife of a m/c. Love my ‘12. It’s a keeper.
I just bought a 2012 model that looks just like that one. It only has 2000 miles on it!!!!!!💪
Was it hidden in a barn?? 👌
Nice find!
The S10 with a complete arrow exhaust system is the best bike sound I've ever heard
The firing order is 270° actually, meaning same sound than à L twin like Ducati. Got one in France, the S12 is a very good daily able to travel far, effortless with a very good reliability (especially on high mileage). Liiiiitle bit heavy, 50 pounds in excess maybe. Enjoy, Nice vidéo.😅
I have a 2013 just like the one in the video and it’s phenomenal. Easy to work on, easy to ride, and comfortable in very happy with it you can find these used and get a steal of a bike that’ll last for a very long time
Great neview I'm thinking to get one of these and I'm 5'8" shorty too!
I lowered my S10 because they are still tall. I used a lowering link and slide fork tubes 20mm through clamp up front. I had my 2013 since Jan 2014. His gas mileage is not accurate. Bike gets about 42 to 44 miles per gallon
It's a bike that will never die
Nice vid. I don't think there is any bike that sounds like them. Could they have picked a worse spot for the filter? Where's your gloves?
I haven't ridden one yet buy the balance feels beautiful compared to all adventure bikes I've been on.
Do the common ECU map and get 20-25 hp and 18ft-lb. more in the mind range. Then it will be a different, even better bike.
Wow, I was wondering if that was a thing… now I wouldn’t mind having one. Was hesitant because the power.

if i ever change my 02 fjr this would be a option because its yamaha shaft drive or maybe a tracer 900 but dont like chain drive but the fjr is a rocket and superb ride
Very true points
I think "tain array" is correct - the 2nd way you said it. I think.
It’s the million dollar question 😂
That's how us Aussies pronounce it! 👌
Pacific Northwest is a great area to ride.
It's a 270° engine (crank-shaft).
I literally just bought that yesterday
Sounds like a lion.
It roars indeed.
S10 , souteneur and Elephant
The 700, or Tenere 700 has a 21 inch front wheel, and the super tenere 1200 has a 19 inch front wheel. Totaly diferent bikes., diferent category.
Yamaha put a freaking TFT display on this bike!!!!! No excuse in 2024!
The whole bike is due for a refresh
get a billet aluminum oil filter from K&N! 😉
No gloves on dirt, yikes!
i have calluses of leather that make up my hands and arms
