I'm not quite sure. Also, the lamb child is a girl since her father, Ingvar said, "She is not used to strangers."
That would be nice
Not with A24 though.
@@nak8490 ohhh thanks for clarifying, I thought he was talking about his wife
Because this is an A24 movie
A24 really seems to love films with female protagonists going insane, nefarious farm animals, and flowery imagery; if someone burns to death it will hit A24 bingo. It's like Hereditary, The Witch, and Midsommar had a love child and I'm here for it.
@Aj Romero Wicker Man, the original, got me into horror movies like that. Where the violence takes place in the daytime rather than night. I dig it. Not everything in the light is always bright...
Agreed. What I loved about the Witch was that most of the horror came from the family tearing itself apart, but when there actually were scary visuals, they spoke for themselves. A real life anthropomorphic lamb definitely fits that bill.
Their themes usually harken back to pagan horror and the mysteries of nature worship, which was lead by priestesses and belonged to the age of matriarchy. Also a reason why the character of mother, or motherhood, is so important in the stories.
@@lacountess and for that reason their horror movies have a more primal feeling, imo. Because of the pagan nature being so ancient
Watch mother!, directed by Darren Aronofsky. You're welcome.
So their baby died, he screwed a sheep, it had a halfsie baby and the whole movie is us deciding if it’s actually a little lamb-satyr or if the grief of losing a child has driven these people insane?
Surprised it's not about the Welsh then. Where the men are men and sheep are scared.
Is that true?
I was thinking more they kept wishing for a child and eventually a miracle happens where a sheep miraculously gives birth to a lamb that looks a bit human. Or maybe the couple really is just crazy and only think that the lamb is their child to treat like a human

I don't think y'all understand that A24 doesn't MAKE (most of) their films, they BUY them from film festivals and distribute them. Show some respect to the Icelandic filmmaker that made this, Valdimar Johannsson.
Thank you! And while yes they have produced some of their own films they are mostly a distributor
Them and most studios..
But it’s great they give movies like this a chance where as many other studios would just pass them up
and they pick the best
...and we're all better for it. Some of us would never be exposed to these films if it weren't for A24. Big studios pass up unformuliac films unless done by sure bets like Christopher Nolan, Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, etc.
So here comes A24 creating an ACU (animal cinematic universe)

I loved this film, especially the way it’s disturbing without trying to be disturbing.
it’s crazy that animal crossing is getting an origin story, and i’m glad a24 is the one to do it 🙏🙏
At first glance, it looks like a psychological horror film about a childless woman who is trying to hold on to her sanity by adopting a lamb and raising it as if it were her own child, and the husband reluctantly goes along with it.
Yuh. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if they went down the struggling to have kids route which could contribute to why she’s at the graves in the beginning and the husband shockingly slept with the animal which resulted in a humanoid lamb baby 👁👄👁
@@madelynnsanmiguel5074 The humanoid lamb baby moment seems like a subconscious projection of the way people anthropomorphize animals and treat them them like human children.
I think the scene at the grave might mean she had a child/was pregnant and it died so she’s using the lamb as a proxy child, kinda like a living reborn doll.
@@emieve617 There are many videos on KZhead about people who do just that.

This trailer more than summarized the movie. It even made the movie look eventful
So what it looks like from the trailer is a woman grows attached to a lamb, and acts like its her own child. Perhaps she lost her own child due to an illness. The husband sees his wife developing an unhealthy relationship with the lamb so threatens to kill the lamb. She kills her husband instead and wanders off into the sunset with her lamb child. The end. Or the movie is even crazier than that. Edit: Lots of comments and ideas below and they are all good. As i mentioned above, i think the movie will be about attachment with more of a psychological narrative than in your face horror. It could be that scenes were it looks like the lamb is human-like are just in the mind of the mother, who sees the lamb like her adopted child. One idea from someone below is that the lamb has a deformity. Thats plausible. If thats true then it would make it feel more human like to the mother. And the twist is the other animals (mother nature) see the lamb as a freak of nature and go against it. Who knows. Should be fun to watch.
I hope you'll come back to this comment after seeing the movie. If you're right then the trailer gave away too much 😂
@@mochiisyum123 i have watch many movies for many long time, Looks like this top comment theorize from other movies. There something unhinge about this movie and its far from what he just said
Yeah maybe the mother can’t have kids so that part you could be right but I also believe the lamb is made out some demonic shit so, the mother lamb as a mother wants her baby and they keep on trying to keep her away. But towards the end you don’t see the husband so my guess the mother lamb kills the husband and eventually turns into a big monster which is like a the devil or sort of weird shit lol
Idk which theory is crazier 🤣
My guess is the real mother of the lamb wants her child back but they don’t want to give it to her and so they end up killing the mother and the child gets pissed and kills the humans.
