I was there on that day, thought Serena will be another bum like dawn's farewell but she pulls some kiss on last minute
Ive seen so many different takes on the kiss and I think the two most wild ones I've consistently heard were "there was no kiss" and "the kiss was gross and nonconsensual and ash didn't want it and Serena is a horrible person for forcing herself on him." As if the pokemon anime would just have a main character depart by SAing another character, both of whom are 10.

I genuinely don’t think any piece of media has made me cry as much as the episode with Mallow reuniting with her mom. Both of them choosing to replace their regrets with feelings of gratitude while gracidea flowers bloom around them is such a powerful scene, and the fact that Mallow’s Shaymin has the same eyes as her mom when it turns into sky form in the last episode…
absolutely, literally never stopped crying after watching that for the first time.
Ash & Pikachu's first episode is legendary, it carried us with so many seasons of pokemon. Every region Ash goes, Pikachu is in his team.
Yeah, what a huge undertaking that era of the show was.
A few other honorable mentions I'd add to that list: 1. Ash's loss to Whitney & Miltank (we've all been there) 2. Goodbye episodes for the Kanto starters (Butterfree, Charizard, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, Pidgeot, Pikachu) 3. Ash's sacrifice against Mewtwo
All of those are great. I'd like to do another list (or several lists) sometime.
Charizard's Burning Ambition. Charizard seemed like one of Ash's most powerful pokemon, but compared to the elites at the Charicific valley, he finds that he's relatively weak. (Although in context, he'd been careless enough to get thrown by a Chikorita recently.) Reminds me of when I was one of the best students at my school, but compared to the best students from every school in the region, my ability was unexceptional, even below average.
And one more: ash's sacrifice in the I chose u movie (au ash)
I was SO disappointment and sad that Team Rocket didn't reunite with Arbok and Wheezing during the last episodes of Pokémon when Ash was reuniting with his pokémon. It felt like such a wasted opportunity and dare I say it, they deserved better! 😭

@@charusharuto be fair, they’re still in hoenn somewhere probably. They released them to escape a poacher and we never saw them again. But I miss them so much! I want arbok and seviper to meet each other. And I want victrebell to meet Cacnea, carnivine and mareanie.
The moment Serena cut her hair was the most emotional moment in the entire series. I nearly cried.
That was a powerful moment for sure.

one of the moments I especially remember is in the Pokemon Sun & Moon anime, when Ash takes Litten home, after Litten's father figure, Stoutland, passes away. That moment was really touching to me
That is one of my favorite moments in the Pokémon Series, because I watched it, cried, and I was so happy that Ash adopted Litten!
I was honestly shocked they brought up sensitive topics like death in the sun and moon series but yea it was a powerful moment
1 moment that hit special for me was before the World Tournament. When Ash traveled back to Alola for his special secret surprise. The exact moment was just before the end of the battle royal. The people cheering on their champion and wishing him luck on world level. For me that was a moment I realized how far his come and that he achieved the respect as all the other champions within the masters 8
My favorite moment was when Ash won the Alola ( I think that’s how its spelled) league. Watching it I never could of imagine Ask winning it because he was always bet by someone stronger. But when he won the Alola league I was so happy but I was convinced that his opponent would won. When he won the worlds tournament and became the world’s strongest trainer I was super excited. Like many of us since season 1 episode 1 that Ash would complete his dream or becoming closer to it. To this day I am convinced that Cynthia can beat Leon
I love the Alola Ash when his new home Alola with his secondary pants Kukui Burnet I love his 2 rivals Kiawe and Gladion and he even won the Alola League do you what’s best about it he didn’t have an argument with a Pokegirl not even Mallow Lana or Lillie

the moment i think was one of the best for team rocket was when jesse leaves the love of her life to help james and meowth from a pokemon smuggler in the XYZ series. i cried after seeing jesse's loyalty to team rocket, truly an amazing moment that made sure team rocket would always have a special place in all pokemon fan's hearts

Let's be honest, every moment close to James hits very hard. Almost all of them are some hard gut punches.
The first hits harder when you remember Charizards original trainer abandoned him after losing to a Poliwag or Polywhirl. So the fact that Ash didn’t leave him after losing to a Polywrath and even took care of him. It finally proved to Charizard that Ash was a good trainer and that he wouldn’t get abandoned again. 😣 Ash & Charizard’s relationship is complicated and I love it ❤

The Champion's tournament really should've had Ash fight Alan and Iris. I dont care how corny it sounds, those were the 2 in the tournament that Ash had the strongest personal connections to. If you're gonna end it end it big. Cynthia and Steven on the other hand just didn't have much more of an impact on Ash's journey than any other champion.

As your breakdown of Ash defending Pikachu in ep1 made me emotional! ❤ thanks for the walk down memory lane and your beautiful interpretation of the message of the series.
Feels different listening to what the narrator says just afterwards in that first episode, knowing that the anime would continue for more than 25 years. Also, the Pokedex at the time describes Ho-oh as just an unidentified Pokemon, but over 200 episodes later, Ho-oh is revealed to be a sort of Pokemon deity, so it's appearance to Ash in episode 1 is re-contextualized as maybe an acknowledgment of Ash by said deity.

Out of story reason that they had Ash say goodbye to Butterfree is because the next episode he has to battle Sabrina the psychic gym leader.
The path that leads to goodbye. A small one in which Iris accidentally prevents Ash from catching a Dunsparce, and Ash gives Iris a fruit that, unbeknownst to Ash, turns out to be very sour, and they spend most of the episode thoroughly angry at each other.
So many good moments and I 100% agree with this list the memories of the mist episode makes me cry every time I watch that episode but it is so good Ash winning the World Tournament that whole battle had me at the edge of my seat and I literally loudly cheered for Ash The amourshipping kiss sent me and made me so happy and it was well deserved Great video!

When I saw the ash vs leon fight I was on the edge of my seat when i saw pikachu collapse i got so sad i was saying i knew it was to good to be true he couldnt win then you see every single pokemon ash caught or helped cheering pikachu on then the OG theme playing with ash turning his hat backward old school style i cried then when i heard the referee say pikachu was the winner i lost it i cheered so loudly i waited for that moment since I was a kid that joy it brought me to see him become the very best I will always remember
Ash VS Leon was a surreal experience without a doubt.
I still remember watching with chills as Ashes Infernape faced Paul’s Pokémon. In context this is the chimchar that Paul gave up on, this is the one Pokémon Paul wanted and then decided was too weak for his team. Now evolved into an Infernape he stood before Paul and his team with a roar and intense fire mane, without words saying “you didn’t want me, now you’ll fear what I have become.” It solidified visually how Ashes training style was just a better way than Paul’s. after seeing that episode about a week later I got Pokémon diamond on my ds. I chose Chimchar as my starter and later on found that that was the best choice due to the lack of fire types in the diamond and pearl games
If this included the movies, then I think ash’s death from “I chose you” or “Mewtwo Strikes Back” would definitely be the best moments

Arceus and the Jewel of Life has to be THE best movie they dropped, from soundtrack to opening scene, genuinely felt like the kids were just on their adventures through sinnoh then boom mad Dialga/Palkia/Gtina plot, 10/10, Best fight scenes tho was 100% the (Paul V Ash) Infernape V Electrivire round - you know it went hard when YT videos at the time were pumping AMVs out with this as the back drop
Ah yes the alola league, the first official league he ever won and all it took was a grandfather screwing over his own grandson to keep ash in a fight he officially lost, thanks hala
I'm really surprised the episode with Stoutland's death wasn't here. Cause, while Pokemon *had* touched on death before it was always fairly divorced from the main cast and usually in the past tense, i.e encountering a haunted house, or a pokemon waiting for their deceased master. It's sad but, there's no connection. But Stoutland was a reoccurring character and a friend to part of the cast (Litten). But more than that, it affected ASH, he was the one that carried it to Nurse Joy, and he was the one that was told it died. It was, as far as I can tell, the first death of someone/something that Ash knew personally. Which is going to hit SO much harder than the death of a stranger in the distant past. It was a death in the cast, of someone they knew. And then they got to meet again in the Mists of Alola ep, to show it how Litten had grown and changed. Also as a pet owner who HAS lost pets (to old age) it really hit hard. Esp when Ash picked it up and was like 'huh it's really light' b/c, that's exactly what happens with very old animals as they near the end. They start to lose so much weight. So as soon as he said that I felt my heart clench. In a similar vein, the episode later with the Minior where we learn that they're basically all going to die. It's effectively the final flight of these pokemon.
Stoutland is a gem but on another one of the lists I'm working on (trying not to repeat the same moments on each list too much). So, look forward to that heartbreaker lol.

Technically its unknown if it was Bianca or Latias that kissed him. Also in movies melody kissed him first and if you want to be really technical team rocket kissed Ash in the anime in that SS Anne episode

To be honest I don't think Ash's story is over yet, especially how they ended it, they either did that in case Horizon doesn't work out😡 or the better solution the in Ash's story with a movie, and I think that would have been a better way to end Ash's story.

imo the team rocket episode that beat out the arbok and weezing episode was the one in xy where Jessie actually considered to leave the team and how the other two responded and sacrificed themselves wrecked my heart. and it’s a bit disappointing you didn’t mention torracat and stoutland in the mallow episode. i think the episode where stoutland was super heart wrecking. and ngl i was kinda hoping and expecting this list to be about heart wrecking moments. i hope you make a list more focused on that.

if they had introduced serena a different way it would seem like a waste of a potential romantic partner. she basically decided to uproot her life for a crush on a guy as kids who you never talk to outside a summer camp. if she wanted a pokemon she would had at least try and get one before or they could had made comment about her getting pokemon by her own choice found out ash was there ran into him then i would had like the pairing. but nope they made an " i love this guy i need to stalks him" kkind of personal
