Human cells grown in monkey embryos spark ethical debate - BBC News

2021 ж. 15 Сәу.

Monkey embryos containing human cells have been made in a laboratory, a study has confirmed.
The scientists injected human stem cells - that have the ability to develop into many different body tissues - into macaque embryos.
Other so-called mixed-species embryos, or chimeras, have been produced in the past, with human cells implanted into sheep and pig embryos.
The researchers says their work could pave the way in addressing the severe shortage in transplantable organs as well as help understand more about early human development, disease progression and ageing.
Some scientists have, however, raised concerns about the experiment, arguing that while the embryos in this case were destroyed at 20 days, others could try to take the work further.

The issue with eugenics is its up to a human to decide what is optimal and what isn't, the nazis wanted a fantasy of a mystical aryan race with blue eyes and perfect noses; but blue eyes are a rare gene lol. 'Perfection' and nature dont go together, eugenics are always going to be dodgy as a result. What is a desirable trait? What do we want the outcome to be of improving humanity? 7 billion people, which one do we decide is the 'gold standard'.

"Yeah well when we create this being in the lab and we don't know what it is, thats not really as much as a problem for the researchers." Thats one hell of a way to neglect responsibility for what you have done. This behavior, of creating something without any forethought or responsibility for the implications of what they create is disturbing as HELL. The plans they have for these "creations" is even worse, because as it sits we, humanity, plan on growing human-monkey hybrids to harvest their organs to make ourselfs live longer. I have no words.

Essentially, we killed off these half breed things before they could develop, but imagine how bad it would be if we didn't kill them? Imagine if we let these abominations develop and torture these potentially humanoid creatures by trapping them in animal bodies? The whole thing creeps me out.

    • @@theyoutubeguy1 I'm all for saving lives, but ultimately medicines and products we use on humans have to be tested on humans. What it comes down to is that its' unnecessary to test on other animals, and it's unnecessary because there are alternatives: Micro-dosing on volunteers. In-vitro, tissue on a chip, computer models.

      @fruitfunfitness3584@fruitfunfitness35843 жыл бұрын
    • @@fruitfunfitness3584 That doesn’t really work, if we’re testing cures for cancer per say as one example we use animals to work out a lethal dose as well as potential efficacy in humans. This is often done with lab mice or rats or hamsters. If we used humans we would in essence have to kill humans to work out what a lethal dose for humans would be. If we were killing humans to save them that wouldn’t exactly be very ethical. I don’t know personally what your views are but in my opinion as valuable as animal life is, human life or more specifically the life of our own species is more important than the life of other animals. If not then such things as what Hitler, Russia, the USA, UK and many others did during WW2 would be okay and a great example to follow. They in my opinion weren’t and when dealing with human life studies have shown that playing with it can be mentally damaging for those that do it, they desensitise themselves and can do some very unusual things such as human bound books or human jewellery. I mean personally I wouldn’t want to put my life at risk for a cure before it is tested on something else would you?
