Putting a $20,000 Truck Lift To The Test!
Hit the trails with us as we take our Tacomas head-to-head on the rugged Mottino Wash Trail! 🏔️💪 In this epic off-road trail, we test the bounds of performance between a Tacoma braced with portals on massive 39-inch tires against its counterpart equipped with a standard lift on agile 35-inch tires. 🚚💨
We encounter a moment when one of the trucks breaks a CV Axle! Will it be the giant on 39s or the lifted warrior on 35s? Watch as we push these Tacomas to their limits!

When I first watched this video I was in awe how the team changed the axle in the middle of the trail and I just had to watch it a second time, they worked fast and made it seem like such a small job!!
The title should read “can a Tacoma on portals can keep up with Tacomas on 35”s?”
😅
Maybe for the last video, he was the only one to not struggle here
@@rodrigomeza gotcha 🤙🏻

Man, what a “AWESOME” group of guys to go wheeling with! What a crew, Incredible.
“And he’s got an apartment in the back of his truck” 🤣
😂
one of those rare lines where you have to drive the truck backwards to get rear steer
That was some Yellow Banana type recovery on the first vehicle. Legend.
😂
Getting portals was a smart move for good content. Game changer!!
More videos like this Mateo!! 🔥🔥
What an intense trail and looked like an awesome experience! My taco doesn’t have enough mods to tackle all that. You all are true beasts!!! 🤙🏾
This is absolutely madness. Matteo your truck is badass take care
Great group wild run! And I was worried about pin stripping! You work that rig for sure!
The ol 1st gen on 35's would make it through there with no damage
This tacos is my dream build very cool😎 ❤️
Excelente video como siempre saludos desde Brooklyn ny
Saludos! 👋🏻
All hail the Tacoma king🙏🗿🌪️
Love it
Mateo está loco bro por eso me gusta tus videos aver cuando viene acá a Colorado
Dudes got a hell of a tool kit on standby for his runs. I need to start buying all this stuff
Better safe than sorry 😅
This video motivate me to build my 97 T100 but only one problem HARD TO FIND PARTS! 😩😩😩
Is this the same Bennie who had a clean Civic Hatchback back in the days? He has a youtube channel?
More money than brains lol
thats what these trucks are built for. shit happens and its all part of the passion
Just enough of both I think 🤷♂️
That’s some great content, was everyone regeared with front/rears locked? Trying to see what everyone’s setup was! Im debating a front locker because I also do not want to snap a CV axle.
I can’t speak for everyone but I know most of them regeared when moving to bigger tires, some front lockers for sure
Man! As much as I want to invest into Over-landing, it’s hard for me to damage a $35k-50k truck. Not to mention snapping a UV joint, axel, rear differential damage.
Over landing/long distance car camping is much less likely to screw up a rig. Running moderate to hard trails with an overly heavy rig on the other hand is where the damage gets heavy.
I would by no means call this trail overlanding 😅 Robert makes a good point ^
I’m not sure I’d put my friends vehicles in that situation for a video. My ethics wouldn’t let me
No one in this video was forced to do the trail lol 🤷♂️
Hey mateo i can't find any videos on the Afe upper control arms can you make a video about it?
Sure!
Thanks
So the first guys line doesn’t work well, then everyone else follows suit.. The key is to avoid body damage, at least to most.
That stuff is too rich for my blood. Spending $100K for the truck and buildouts and wrecking them on the trail for another $5-$10K….definitely would go with a first gen build
that gas cap door oh no
It will buff out dont worry! 😂
What gears is everyone with the 35's rolling with?
Usually 5.29’s
What cap is on your truck?
That cap has been discontinued but a v2 is coming out soon!
@@tacomabeast Who is the manufacturer so I can keep an eye out for the new version?
Wow 😳 it's not any fun if you don't come home without any score 😊
I understand the challenge of 'beating' the trail, but damn the price of 'success' is too high for me; you all must have some really 'deep' pockets to afford doing this shit!!!.... Also I love my truck, it's like my baby. I don't like seeing it get hurt!!!
For him it makes sense because he gets a video out of it and will make more than the cost to repair the damages. But for the other guys, yea they must be rich or something to afford that.
These guys do all their own work they aren't rich. Some people enjoy the process of using the truck, finding its limits and breaking it, and then fixing it and making it even better.
Let’s see them with 50k on them !!
Damn. 😢
What you think about 4 gen?
Absolutely Love it! Here is our video review on it. -> kzhead.info/sun/lsmlg9qcgJOKgIk/bejne.htmlsi=Lo-mr_l8CDhNb-PL
What camper shell is that?!
6:40 his sliders are loose or his frame is shot
Set it and forget it..
Trucks are too nice and expensive to just destroy them!!
Especially if you need your truck to get you to work everyday
I'm curious how a wrangler on 40s would do here
I’m sure plenty have done it but I think 40’s might be too high of a COG for a wrangler since it’s much shorter
Any sas build would make this trail easy work
After all these done the owners will come to a realization how the heck did I signed up for this.., those damages to the Tacomas aren’t cheap (goodluck with that) Let there be more carnage😂
You-all need to make full on exoskeletons on your trucks. Just like the Aussies. 😅
I would never damage my truck like that. Ridiculous.
Ok
