His foot work looks similar to PTK with the lunging motion where his back leg kicks back. Can you tell me why they do this? Going up on one leg, on the front leg where the back leg lifts up behind them.

- I think it’s to serve as a counterbalance for the extra reach it gives them during the thrust

- @@bladesociety me either. I just lunge normal with a long front stance like actual fencing or boxing.

- Same here. I’m a little concerned that I might lose balance and inadvertently crash into my opponent. But I will practice and let you know how it goes. I mean PTK and Dekiti both heavily emphasize knife training so I’m thinking there might be something to that manuever that they do.
