Another tip, especially for Etsy sellers : do TRACKED shipping ! You will avoid scammers saying their product didn't arrive when it had. I had a customer that asked me a refund for non delivered parcell, I refused as my conditions were that non-tracked shipping can't be refunded (cause I can't be sure it did arrived or not). The person asked etsy instead and got entirely refunded even tho of my shop conditions. Since then I have only tracked shipping and no issues anymore.
I understand this for your own security, but I've had tracked orders that say delivered but they never arrived.

I have been crocheting since I was in middle school, and I decided in November 2022 that I wanted to take it seriously after many other failed small business attempts. I am really glad that you brought that topic up. I don't think most people realize that most successful business owners had many failed business attempts before finding the one that ultimately made them the happiest or brought them the most profit. I try to remember this everyday and push myself to continue to be experimental with my business endeavors.

I have been running my own business with reborn dolls since 2002 but am new to the crochet world. I learned when i was young but didn't start crocheting full time until 3 years ago. I have a website for my dolls but not for my crochet creations yet. Back in the day I sold great on eBay and also created my own html listings. So much has changed and now Etsy and Instagram seem the place to be. It's hard teaching an old school girl new tricks but I'm trying lol. Thank you for all of your helpful info!

Love your comments about tracking sales/expenses in advance! It is so hard to catch up all at once if you don't. And 100% crocheting takes time so it is important to do other things besides just crochet and craft ALL day or you will get burnt out.

This is the actual important stuff no one ever does videos about. Some things will vary by state. Link for WI's Department of Revenue with info for registering small businesses: just remove the spaces after https and www https ://www .revenue.wi.gov/Pages/Businesses/New-Business-home.aspx I dunno about other states.

I’m starting my second small business by the end of 2024 and this video was really helpful! I’ve never been into social media but it’s a step I have to take in order to be successful the media based culture we live in. I’m planning on repurposing thrift clothing and home decor using my artistic talents and sewing skills (that need to be improved 😂) and selling stuff people ACTUALLY could see themselves wearing or displaying in their house. Etsy ads are SO important! Even if you have a bunch of followers on insta, getting that conversion rate up will ALWAYS be the hardest part! I have 16k followers and since reopening my Etsy, I've definitely relied on ads!

I realized that giving names to youtube channels and failed small business gave me the experience to think of good names. My current small business is "frutillas de algodón" and I'm planning to translate or even change it to "cotton strawberries" (which is the english translation) once I start selling patterns or anything
I would have one of the coupon type folders. The one that opens with multiple stations. Then I would put each months recipes into separate pockets. Each months I would take one day to enter all the info into a spreadsheet for the whole month.b

Hello, I've been watching your videos since I learned to crochet last year, and I'm a big fan! I'm 14, and I would love to start an Etsy crochet shop, but I have no idea where to find supplies for shipping- where do you find supplies for that kind of thing? How do you find inspiration and figure out how to shape new patterns how you want them to?
I'm wondering what's the best way to stock my Etsy store. Should I come up with the products I want to sell and post them, then make them as the orders come in? Or should I make a bunch up front before I list them? Or a mix of both? Would love peoples' input on this--I've found that I really enjoy crocheting in my free time so I'm leaning towards making a bunch of things (earrings, plushes, etc.) up front and then listing them with a certain number of stock.
One way to track your expenses is to open an account that is only used for your business. That way, everything on your statements is only for your business. And it's a lot easier to track that way. And you don't have to remember to enter the purchase into a spreadsheet.

I have bought them few times now amd I'm very impressed about the quality, however I'm still not a pro, I would to hear your opinion about them.
