My 2023 Toyota GR86 SEMA Build With Every Possible Bolt-On Part Available
Swing by the Toyota booth at SEMA to lick the car if you want. The spare wheels, tires, extended lugs, and seat brackets bring it up to about $80k.

Don't you just love your rebadged Subaru BRZ 😂😂 not a Toyota by any stretch of the imagination lol
The Supra is a rebadged BMW roadster. BMW engine and transmission built in a BMW factory.... Has nothing to do with Toyota. Same with the GR86 which is a rebadged Subaru BRZ.....
you know the day you dropped this vid, on the gr86 forums (which you probably already look at, but hey im 20 and excited so) it seems that EcuTek just started distributing the beta tuning software to tuners
I'm an accountant and I'm triggered 😂😂😂
Lmao what you triggered about he earns enough to pay for his toys and clearly kept the receipts.. 🚫 👨🍳 needed 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
@@mikejovi980 “Earns enough” *cough cough sponsorship
don't think a casual drifter will spend almost 100k to casually drift
everything in US is expensive
Casual drifters also don't join SEMA
Correct they buy a shitbucket 350z for the low and clap it into oblivion.

Yes we will
Thanks for sharing Larry, car looks amazing. We’re all looking forward to how that supercharger performs. Hope you’ll give us more details on it in more future videos on performance!
So proud of all you have been able to accomplish, Larry! Love seeing SEMA builds get properly driven!
Love the clean style. The livery is sectioned out very smartly. The custom plate made me laugh out loud. Just thinking of Larry Chen driving it in traffic and a Rolls Royce pulls up....😏 Super sick build there Larry! (I wish I had the money to build a dream 86, I'd have a flat 6 supercharged in it, that flat 6 sounds so good under load)
So proud of you LARRY, always happy to see these notifications pop up , GR86 looks amazing!
You should be proud of it man this is an incredible build. Every single part is quality.
Awesome build, Larry! I am so inspired by your passion and the dedication you have for photography and cars, as I am too! Thank you so much for sharing!
Awsome work on the 86! Looking forward to seeing all the content you can put out on it! By the way the ending gave me chills. Loved hitting the pause and seeing what picture would display!
So STOKED for you Larry. You’re absolutely KILLING IT with your driving! Btw Larry you did start the video saying this was your 2020 SEMA build
A SEMA Build that runs and performs? No way.
No Bluetooth anything on this car, except for the radio and led lights 🤣😂
It's early days still for the ZD8/ZN8 BRZ/GR86 but this is my favorite "comprehensive" build out there so far. Great work Larry. Some of the parts are IMO overkill for a strictly street build, per se, but this is a great showcase for the platform's potential in late 2022. Concentrating on the hidden drivability mods, like the bracing and LSD, is ace. I hope to see a lot more of this car.
This isn't a strictly street build, i could have sworn he made that pretty clear in the video when he was drifting it at grange
Amazing build… but more amazing are your photos!! I’m a self taught photographer learning everyday and I admire you!
That’s an amazing looking car! Can’t wait to see a track day video!
At a little over 70k for a reliable daily, drift and track set up car that honestly you could have looking a little more sleeper-ish if you wanted and, personally as a mechanic everything you could easily diy over a couple weekends that's a hell of a good price! Love it! Looks awesome!❤👏🤘👍👍👍❤❤
Sweet setup Larry. Thanks for sharing and transparency.
Awesome as always Larry! Need to drag you and this car out to an event ASAP!
Thanks for sharing. It was awesome meeting you at PRI. ❤️🙏🏻😍
through this build i see the shadows of the S15 Silvia that i wanted to build as a streeter which can hit the track lovin this
Bravo 🙌🏻 sir! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊
Super solid breakdown! definitely appreciate you going piece by piece and price.
This is such an awesome all around build. I bet it’s a blast to hoon around the track.
I'll be at SEMA cant wait to see your build Larry!!!
Certified bolt-on boy. Vinnie and the crew at Hoonigan are surely proud of you! 😁😁😇😇✌✌
Could we get some more details on the hks supercharger? The gr86 community is waiting on FI
The only content creator who sounds humble when he says large prices..
Those pictures at the end were so cool. They looked like they were straight from gran torismo 7 so crisp
great build Larry! 🙌🙌🙌 now show how you tuned the HKS SC and what kinda numbers you're putting down! 😉
this... this is the gr86 content we need..
Super clean build! I think it’s perfect!
Nice. Hope you can do something similar with the GR Corolla.
Sick build Larry, I'm mad jealous.
Damn Larry, now I wanna take my 86 build in a different direction. This thing is awesome!
Nicely done. That thing is gonna do a lot of thangs. HKS ++ Plush
This build is so good!
Absolutely love the investment you put into upgrading your suspension system. Have you thought about doing some time attack with your car as it is set up very well for it also. Thank you for the breakdown of the costs, and it is a very well balance modification between power, functional aerodynamics and most important suspensions and brakes. Again, thanks for sharing!
Very nice and tastefully done nice work.
Awesome build! Great commentary too. Can you please let me know which model supercharger and where I can get one from? Cheers!
such a clean build 🤙🏽
I want to see more of those JDM bracing parts in full. And curious if they will sell them for the old 86
Good Job Larry! Car looks amazing & congrats! With the engine work & expense in the car, have you considered pulling the oil pan to check the pan & oil pickup tube just for a piece of mind that no factory silicone is loose in the pan &/or pieces in the pickup tube... Unfortunately , it legit is a real problem. Regardless the car looks so good!!
This build is great, honestly something i'd like to build if i had the money.
Omg that car is awesome! I want one.
I sometimes want to add up the modifications I've done on my FRS & do a video 😅 but worried about the total.
Wow. Just a casual $90k GR86 when you factor in markup on original purchase price
Interesting and informative 💎
Amazing build
When is the HKS supercharger going to be available for all of us?
My boy don’t miss.
Love it Larry!
Badass build man! Just as personal commentary, I would never spend 2g's on an exhaust system unless it was made out of titanium (I know Ti kits can cost way more), but of course if a sponsor wanted to hook me up with one I would be dumb to not take it.
What about 6k+ on brakes? Lol
Awesome. would you be able to provide links to buy these items?
So good Larry
hey larry.. whats the tire specifications on those ad09s.. im gueesing 235/40??
love the honesty
When I get my BRZ, I’m getting a carbon fiber roof, doing some weight and stance mods, and then I’m done. Maybe some tints and a sub but I just want a nice handling slow car that I can daily and spin on occasion
Awesome build!
Love the idea that you can get a supercharger for that car it is wicked that car is
Any vehicle you do or work on is super clean!
The Supra is a rebadged BMW roadster. BMW engine and transmission built in a BMW factory.... Has nothing to so with Toyota. Same with the GR86 which is a rebadged Subaru BRZ.....
@@Hazey420lifeyou do realize that the car itself brz, frs, or 86 were all based on one car right… the ae86? it’s toyotas brand it isn’t a rebadged subaru brz. the only thing they did that they could have done themselves is use subarus engine and look at where that got us
very nice build!
Why does the supercharger only work with the stock airbox? That's a major downside imo, will that be fixed later?
Love the plate... Sir Plz!!! :D
What size tires do you run?
Damn this came out of nowhere! Really sick you went with a street car/drift car style. Also like that you went supercharger. I love turbo but suoerchargers on these kinds of cars i dont see very often. Came out great!
Supercharged 4 cyls are so cool
Congratulations Larry, great build
Awesome!
Larry Chen: "This is my SEMA 2022 build... Toyota 86, A DAILY DRIFTER". Folks, please clear the road... Larry Chen drifting through... 😂
How much real hp are you running with the supercharger? Just bought mine for mi 2023 BRZ only one in Mexico so far as I can tell, swan neck wing and carbon fiber hood too!
Crazy Larry^-^
Love it, boxer from Subaru!!!
The fact that the entire carbon hood costs as much as the rear HKS valance is mind boggling. I'm not sure if it's a great deal, or if the other is just ridiculously overpriced
The hood and the HKS parts are all over priced.
@@thegroundhurts To be honest $1300 for a carbon hood seems fair to me. I make carbon fiber parts as a hobby, I know how expensive it is to manufacture.
@@andreabotti99 I guess that's fair. I have a hard time accepting the price of cosmetics. The factory hood is already aluminum so you aren't getting much weight savings. For 1300 I could buy another set of tires or pay for two more track weekends.
@@thegroundhurts it's more for the aesthetics than for the weight savings
@@QajjTube Which is totally fine. I'm on a normal budget so I get to stay with the factory hood and spend my money on consumables instead.
Question: I have seized a total of 5 lugnuts/wheelstuds on my ZD8('22BRZ), how do you avoid this? I've rotated and swapped tires for many cars for over an accumulated 1 million miles worth of Toyotas. 3 Corollas alone were worth over 1 million miles already. This is the first car that constantly had seized lugnuts/wheelstuds. What's going on here?
I like youre build bro 🚀🚀🚀
I have a door striker kit for my 2015 TRD but still have not been able to get the screw loose.... :/
you do everything so right. wish i could prick your brain someday, man. low key hope that someday i get to show off a build to you
Really nice fun car.
I was looking for Orange Bang ! I miss Orange Bang ! Great build. Yeah building modern cars is House Money ! I can tell you both my resto mod 240 and 280Z cars. Total ground up rebuilds All my labor. Haven't come close to the cost of these mods. So I'm "EXTREMELY HAPPY AND SO PROUD, I shopped well and have Skills. !!! But Larry Somebody has to put numbers of reality into the public awareness. There is NO PLACE to get actual numbers, of what it takes! So this is a HUGE much needed video ,of reality. It's expensive to play! Also this makes you respect everybody that has a good performing drift car, that has a lot less into their build! Great vid Larry ! Where is Orange Bang. To me KZhead has two famous Z cars that will remain at the top of Z cars for all time, they are FuguZ and Orange Bang. Third runner up is Street Bandito's / Industry Garage Time Attack Carbon Z.
Amazing! I love it?
Cool another how much $ can I blow build that is completely unobtainable for average person lol
well i mean i think the point of these sema cars are to showcase the various parts for new platforms that you CAN purchase these cars are just all compiled onto one car to showcase them
@@aellux9624 exactly, SEMA is just an expo where aftermarket companies sponsor builds to show off what’s available in their parts catalogue
I was gonna say that lol there’s more spent on the body than i spent on my whole drift build including the car itself lol
@@aellux9624 true that the flex show 💪
Those floor mats though.
first time i seen u without ur scarf
Larry: “Look 👀 mom! My car is at SEMA!!!”
At least it runs and drives! Unlike some other SEMA bluetooth Builds...
I'm actually surprised that Larry Chen isn't rocking a super modded Supra or Nissan Z instead. Definitely a Final Edition Nissan GT-R or BMW M6 type of guy.
Cannot wait to get my GR86, Im working 14 hour days, 2 jobs to try and save money to buy one.
Awesome build Larry congratulations. However for a daily drift car the expense is out of reach for most as a "daily drift car.
very cool
The 86/BRZ is really both this generation's Celica and Z.
Supercharger kit on BRZ is the best mod you can spend money on without swapping it.
how much power does it make?
Power Power!!!! How much???? The ONLY question that matter. 😎
Did I miss the ecu?
What you do about that Subaru silicone my boy? Are you still running the Fa24 engine? That thing is cursed. Does anyone know a good engine swap that doesn't mess up the handling of the gr86?
It's a brand new engine how is it cursed?
Wheels from Pep Boys?
At least you're going to the show with a running car...
First. Love this for ya Larry!
Japan had supercharger kits for the older GT86 too, not sure this is "worlds first"?
It’s just missing a Billetworkz Short Shifter, Shift Knob, and Engine Bay Caps (gotta get rid of those ugly yellow caps)! We will get you hooked up!
So why did you keep the sway bars
