S1 - Ep 436 - Orpen Rest Camp!

During our stay at Orpen Rest Camp in the Kruger National Park, we had a short drive to reach the camp, and although we could only check in after two in the afternoon, we spent our time exploring the area in search of wildlife. We were in luck, as we were the only observers of a thrilling sight of a pack of around 18 wild dogs quenching their thirst from rainwater on the road and then embarking on a hunt deeper into the bush. The experience was truly spectacular. Later, we checked into our beautiful bungalow at Orpen, where we relished an enjoyable meal and a restful night. The sight of elephants rushing to the waterhole just outside the boundary fence, as well as the sight of impala, zebra and blue wildebeest from our own patio, made for a perfect end to this small, but lovely camp. Our overall stay at the camp was delightful, leaving us with fond memories of the captivating wildlife and the comfort of our accommodations. #DustBugs #adventuretravel #southafrica #southafricavlog #travelongravel #krugernationalpark #orpen

  • I have been many times to the Kruger park and watched many KZhead videos of it and what makes your video so great is that you present it as is, no over editing of scenes. The way you present it, is how we all experience it when there. Thank you for sharing and greetings from Germany

  • I am loving your Kruger Park series, thank you ❤. I can’t believe how many animals you have seen, there are big herds and they all (except for one or two), look very healthy. It makes my heart sing. Also, you have seen evidence of kills, which often is out of sight from the areas where we could be. Amazing! And lots of babies 💕💕 Your Kruger holiday has been amazing. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

  • Hi you two! A double thank you again for this wonderful tour through our beloved land of plenty. The butterfly sharing your zebra shot, the wild dog party on the road and the game the two waterbokke were playing are the cherries on the cake! Another cherry maybe for the cuppas in the morning. Have not seen that for some time! I Orpen is a great camp, as are the others, when they are not crowded like in high season. I cannot get enough of your Kruger visit, so I will be ready as soon as you start the engine for the next trip! Keep safe!

  • Thanks a lot that we can see our lovely country in real time. We are in the market to buy a property in a small town and the first thing we do is go to dustbugs travel and search for the town and that way we can decide if it is still appealing to us. Your program already stop us from making wrong decisions many times. Thanks and drive safe.

  • This has been such a lovely episode. Orpen is an awesome camp. The wild dogs were a bonus! I love your photos of the lions. I think the last one you saw looked sick to me, but I could be wrong. I was just thinking that I hope you will go to Lake Panic when you go to Skukuza. That's an amazing hide.

  • Seeing those wild dogs was awesome. And having the sighting to yourselves was very unusual. Impala herds are interesting as there are differing types - bachelor and breeding groups & territorial males.

    • If you're looking for a professional filmmaker, you're at the wrong address. 🤷🏻‍♂️ My wife and I travel for fun and also document our experiences for fun and for anyone who also enjoy light-hearted travels. I'm totally happy with the quality my everyday cellphone produces, thank you very much. 😁 It's entirely your choice to watch, but that is exactly how we'll continue.
