Sam Tortures Brennan With a Bird Trivia Contest He Cannot Win
Brennan knows bird facts...or does he? From the Game Changer episode "As a Cucumber", which challenges contestants to keep a low, steady heartrate in the face of increasingly stressful challenges, Brennan is asked to compete with Katie and Carolyn in a trivia contest that seems like it was made just for him: "Name That Bird"

If getting birds wrong didn't spike Brennan's heart rate, Katie nearly screwing up on chicken TWICE definitely did.
Hey, a Dinger City fan, wouldn't forget that name. Small world
The way his face fell the moment his first bird came up was peak game changer *chefs kiss* love this series SO MUCH
The way you phrased that made me laugh out loud. That'll do, pony. That'll do.
And Katie is so good at deadpan I can’t even tell if she was fucking with him or not. Like she almost said rooster the first time. So was the word just in her head or was it a long con to get him?
The thing is, if Carolyn got penguin, he should have gotten pheasant. The first bird actually is a type of pheasant.
I don't know why, but Brennan saying, "That's a chicken again," and *walking away* is always what does me in here. He's too angry about it to even worry about giving Katie the answer.
and Katie STILL ALMOST MISSES IT. "rrrroosterrrrrr chickennnn????"
@@aromaladyellie I'm 99.9 sure she hammed that up just to drive Brennan over the moon

@@LauraLovesHugs it does feel that way. She's a wild card though.
@@Tasarranwho is this green fellow in your comment??
Im honestly shocked by Brennan’s accuracy even while being cheated. The Siamese Fireback IS a type of Pheasant. The Roseate Spoonbill and Maribou are part of the same family of wading birds. He’s able to identify characteristics and make legit good guesses even while being fucked with.
I bet that they had different "correct" answers, depending on what he would say.
@@bjorntantau194"roseate spoonbill" "sorry brennan, we were looking for pheasant"
Spoonbills and storks are not that closely related. They are not in the same family or even order. They are both in the clade “Pelecanimorphae,” which contains the orders for Storks (Ciconiiformes), Cormorants and their closest relatives (Suliformes), and Herons and their relatives (Pelicaniformes), which is the group containing spoonbills.
It's like the story of a Jotun king challenging Thor to drink all of the water in a large horn (not telling him that it was secretly connected to all of Midgard's oceans), and he was able to gulp down like 90% of it.
@@Pandacalifornia What I'm seeing here is many possible ways to tell Brennan he was wrong, and also, that I was technically right when I said with complete confidence, completely ignoring all the various types of pelicans that exist and how wildly different they can look, "Pelican". Wait, storks and herons aren't different names for the same thing? I.. what have I done with my life?????!? Clearly I require more bird knowledge.

Well, to be fair I believe that was a Rhode Island Red (breed of chicken). So ‘you’re just going to accept…’ plays here, too.
It's hilarious to me that everyone knows what is going on after the first round, including Brennan, and it still bothers him SO MUCH.

@@VivaLaDnDLogs (minor spoilers for the behind the scenes episode) They say in the behind the scenes ep that even if Brennan said the correct bird, they would say he got it wrong and give an incorrect answer as the right answer. So there's a good chance Brennan actually got a couple of those right.

@@stevegruber4724 yes, this was what I was referencing. Sam's already tried to break him once.

The fact that he was 2 BPM away from getting a point shows how hard he fought his natural instincts to adrenaline spike when he becomes hyper-competitive. Bravo to Brennan.
Let's be honest here. We all could expect Brennan to invent a new type of ranked meditation just so he could reach Nirvana first, so yeah. Adrenaline spikes are a joke for this lad

And I can't tell if Carolyn genuinely knew it was a spoonbill or if she was just fucking with Brennan
I'm PRETTY sure, tho its not 100%, that she was worried it was a trick question and the answer was going to be 'rooster' not 'chicken', evidenced by her concernedly saying 'Rooster chicken?' uncertainly the second time around.

Fun fact, the Siamese Fireback is indeed a type of pheasant, just as Emperor Penguin is a type of penguin and Silkie is a type of chicken, so he in fact would've been correct if the rules were consistent/fair (though obviously the whole point was to be UNfair). That’s the whole point.
After this episode Brennan went on to learn about every single bird in the existence of the universe.
ALL the birds in the multi-birdiverse...
He kinda did, actually. Apparently he bought a boardgame based on identifying birds of various exotic species soon after this was filmed
A siamese fireback is ABSOLUTELY a type of pheasant. Even when fixed the deck to catch him slippin, Brennan still got it right.
Truly one of the greatest segments in Game Changer history - player specific challenges in this episode were fantastic!
Katie's supremely unconfident "Rrroooster-chicken" answer is absolute peak
I love how quickly Brennan's hubris dropped when he saw his first bird.
I will never get sick of watching Brennan's face change at 1:46 He realizes shit just got serious
There's a little moment at 1:50-1:52 where he has hope again. He thinks he just had a memory blank and his answer of pheasant is correct. He thought for a second it was a normal easy question that he was just spacing on for a few seconds. Only for him to be immediately crushed when he hears the answer the game was looking for.
if only all three of Katie's pictures were chickens...that would be GOLD Also, I personally think Brennan's trauma from "Yes or No" took over and overruled his knowledge that Sam was just messing with him to get his heartbeat up 🤣😂
The problem with that is the second round is supposed to be somewhat serious and the final ride is supposed to be completely ridiculous.
Game changer is one of those shows that even got my dad to take a glance and just sit down to watch the entire series

The small "Calm down"
i LOVE how the whole time brennan has this grin on his face like "oh i GOT this" then the image for his bird pops up and his face just changes to oh... oh no...
"Thats a chicken again..." almost kills me lmfao
Sam really missed an opportunity by not asking Caroline her guess on the spoonbill, he could have given her half a point for spoonbill, and Brennan would have imploded 😂

I gotta be honest - literally 99 times out of 100 I would find someone as obsessed with winning as Brennan to be absolutely insufferable. There’s some endearing trait, though - I don’t quite know what - that still makes me laugh with him instead of finding him obnoxious. Brennan is unique. XD

The funniest part to me is that the siamese fireback is a pheasant, so Brennan got the first one right. They really were just fucking with him
My biggest flex is that I knew the greater sage grouse
The funniest part is the first bird Brennan had was in fact a pheasant. I think being correct but not specific enough would be enough to break me.

Everyone who's 100% Red Dead 2 knows the Roseate Spoonbill.
It’s not just the fact that Brennan doesn’t like losing. Brennan hates it when the game is rigged. The other players were getting chicken and peacock while he got rosate spoonbill. His blood boils with a righteous fury. What I wonder is if the game is rigged against someone else would his blood still boil the same righteous rage? I would think so because he is an upstanding guy.
