  • This is the kind of couple you would love to be friends with! I hope they find the house of their dreams.

  • This was just a fantastic *joy* of an episode. I would love to have neighbors like that, and ALL the houses were incredible. 100 out of 100 for me on this one.

  • WOW!! Jules overdid himself with this one. All 3 properties were great, and I'm sorry they lost out on the 3 acres. They are a delightful couple, and Jules was nearly as giddy as they. Great going Jules! Thanks for all you do to make a great program. We appreciate you.

  • I remember watching this episode a few months ago on a different channel, and the couple on the show had actually written in the comments that the buyer fell through, and they ended up getting their dream house with the 3 acres a couple months later. All great property choices and such a delightful pair.

  • They loved every house, which was great but also made their decisions much harder.

  • This really was one of the best episodes; what a wonderful couple and all the houses were fantastic! I really wanted them to get that 3 acre Place. I hope they found another property that spoke to them. I’d love to see a follow up episode on this couple

  • Various Google search’s for Stawell musicians Escape to the Country house etc yielded Joe Strummer from the Clash & Roland Orzabal of Tears For Fears among others. Does anyone know whose amazing house that was? Curiosity is making me 😵‍💫😁.

  • As for usable garden space ( I'm assuming they mean food growing ? Musta missed that in intro)... I just wish to remind or inform folks that one can make garden beds lovely and fitted well to the ambiance of rest of yard. Obviously, on a low budget and without spending too much time out there, this may be difficult for a very formal, fancy yard ( what we Americans call the outdoor space - "garden" being reserved for flower or veg. "beds"/plantings). But even then, something can be done. It takes getting used to it, but just think of ( go find) pics of places where folks have done it. Actually, many tiny home videos on Bryce's channel ( Living Big in a Tiny Home, I think is name) are awesome for inspiration for both outdoor and indoor blending of materials and styles which are unconventional but really work, the way so many creative geniuses have enacted it. Part of that seems to be repeating colors, materials, etc. . Like, per our topic, don't have formal topiary and roses and straight lines all over, then one blob of completely dif. Mix in the different, throughout, and mix in some formality and elegance into the main veg patch part. OR make fairly clearly defined formal area here, and wilder/working area there, and just don't let the wilder/working bit get junky or too unruly. BTW for folks wanting animals/livestock, plz, plz, plz look into rotational grazing ! Take it a step further/troubleshoot it by learning Alan Savory's planning method and basing the rotation on plant recovery, not the conventional rules of stocking rates and whatnot. Makes a HUGE difference in how many animals you can support on an acre while also keeping that acre looking good and even improving in grass/plant density, thrift/health/vigor and diversity over the years as you do this. You actually grow topsoil doing this. Joel Salatin (here in Virginia, USA) & his Dad, gradually covered bare rock and not enough soil to support an electric-fence post, into a thriving farm ! I recommend Joel's books, btw, and Greg Judy is one YT channel covering the day-to-day of managing the land this way, and has interviewed some UK folks doing it, as well. PS: Check out Charles Dowding's YT channel, his beautiful market gardens, "Homeacres" there in Somerset !! The 1st house in this vid. was only 16 min. away from him :) !
