Minecraft has many mysteries, but none as old and as creepy as the haunted disc 11. This is an in depth analysis of the disc's audio, and my interpretation of it's story. My conclusion is one I believe is unique, and may change your perception of the game. This is Minecraft's Scariest Mystery: Disc 11

To me, the "walking" sounds more like a player placing down blocks, which can easily trigger the sculk shrieker, which is why using wool is the meta.
in the version the audio was released in, walking sounds sounded like today's breaking sounds.
To me it sounds like someone breaking blocks while running away from something
Ok but that disc was way back in xbox 360 minecraft maybe they planned for a long time to make warden?
I always thought of Disc 11 as a short tale of an unfortunate night in a cave. It always seemed to me like someone encountered something, ran back to base camp to grab a light source and check their mapping of the cave or their journal. After they cough they alert whatever they encountered and hurriedly put everything away with an audible click of the flint as they light their torch and look for the creature. They then start running before they are either caught or they drop whatever was recording the disc. I always felt like the disc was made from a recovered audio recorder back when the records were made. Like those lost recording scary stories.
Sounds to me like a player running away from an enderman then getting caught hence why its broken and the enderman noise.

I think you're right about it not being Herobrine, due to the timing. However, given how many of Minecraft's patch notes have included the phrase "Removed Herobrine", I think it's also fair to say that, at least in the pre-Microsoft days, something being a fan creation didn't stop the devs from referencing it.
theory: disc 5 takes place before this and the end of that disc ends with sounds like a portal closing. Then in this he's trying to re-light the portal, while being pressured by the thing from disc 5.

Minecraft:
The story of Minecraft's disk 11... (as told by my crazy imagination right now) I knew I shouldn't've come here. I knew it was too dangerous. And yet, here I am, in the dark, all alone. Well, mostly. Of course, I knew there would be zombies, skeletons, spiders, and possibly Endermen, but never in a million years did I expect this... This all started a few days ago. I was in the overworld, above ground, looking for some mushrooms, when I saw something... strange. A beam of sorts, shooting straight up into the sky as far as the eye can see. Normally, I would not be one to seek adventure, but this intrigued me, so I decided to investigate. As I drew closer, I saw a green, grassy clearing. Right at the edge of the clearing, I stopped. Someone was there. "But that can't happen, because this is a solo world," I thought to myself. The person was standing near a large, iron structure with a teal box on top. They didn't seem to be doing anything strange, just mining wood and building a home. But this was strange. No one else was supposed to be there because it wasn't supposed to be possible. And yet, there they were. Their hair was brown and short. Their skin was tan, and their shirt was blue. I swallowed my fear and took a cautious step into the clearing. Then another.... and another, until I found the rhythm of walking. The closer I got to the person, the less afraid I was. Once I reached their structure, I drew in a deep breath. "Hello!" I said with a smile. The person didn't say anything and continued to gain wood. I figured they hadn't heard me, so I took a step closer and repeated myself. "Hello!" Again, nothing. At this point, I was sure they heard me. Frustrated and no longer afraid, I walked in front of them. "Excuse me? Who do you think yo-" I stumbled back and screamed. Backing as far away as possible, I cowered and tried to tell myself it wasn't real. It couldn't be real because it wasn't possible. They had no pupils. Their eyes were pure, blank, white. I summoned the courage to take another look, and sure enough, there was no color. The person continued to chop at the trees as if I wasn't there. At this point, I was more than a little afraid. I was terrified and ready to run, but I needed to know how they got here. I stood on shaky legs and approached them. Once I was only a few feet away, I spoke. "H-hello?" Still, they didn't react. I stepped in front of the tree they were mining. They stopped swinging, and their ax fell to the side. "Can you see me?" I waved my hand in front of their face, but they didn't react. At this point, I wasn't sure what to do. For a few minutes, we just sat there, staring at each other. Right before I was about to leave, they spoke. "You. Shouldn't. Be. Here. It. Isn't. Safe." Their voice was low and raspy, and they paused after every word. "Why?" I asked. "The. Fairy. Only. Flies. Underground." "What does that even mean?" "Do. Not. Find. The. Fairy." "WHAT DOES THAT MEAN?!" I screamed. But they didn't answer. They just picked up the ax, walked to a new tree, and began to swing. Dazed and confused, I wandered away. "What fairy? And how would it fly underground?" I wanted to find out, so I headed home and began to prepare. I grabbed a shulker box and began to pack. I stuffed bread, steak, armor, extra tools, water buckets, and torches in the box. After I finished, I grabbed a few books, a few maps, and my disk which I used to record things that may be important, and stuffed them into my backpack. I was packed, now I just needed to find the "Fairy". Whatever that meant. The person said underground, so I began to dig. I dug until my hands bled and my feet cramped. Finally, I reached a cave. I recognized it as my usual resource cave. I knew I had explored every bit of this cave, so I continued to dig. "The fairy only flies underground" wasn't much to go on, but I was determined. I wish I had just given up. After days of non-stop digging and mining, I reached a new cave. This one was large and open, with mobs around every corner and a large patch of dirt near the entrance. But that was normal, so I was not afraid. I began mapping it so I could find my way out easier later. I searched around for a bit and found some diamonds, but no fairy. Then I heard a noise. It wasn't a typical cave noise like a spider or a zombie. It wasn't even a slime or a zombie villager. It was deep like a zombie, but rattling like a skeleton, but also, squishy, like a slime. I turned to try to find where it was coming from, but it was like it was all around me. No matter where I turned, I heard it from every side. It was getting louder and louder until... it stopped. Quickly, I pulled out my disk and pressed record. Then the sound started again. This time it was deafening. I couldn't hear myself think, and the sound was now right behind me. I didn't look back. I ran as fast as I could. And that's how I got to where I am now. The sound, quieter now, is following me, but I'm faster than whatever it is. Could this be the fairy that person was talking about? I don't know, but I keep going. I fumble for my map to try to find my way out of the cave. My breathing becomes ragged and loud and my footsteps even louder. I can't see anything, and the sound is far away, so I take a break to light a torch. The smoke fills my lungs and I cough, but I am thankful for the light. With the help of the torch, I check my map again, and it seems I am only a few hundred feet from the exit. I'm still catching my breath when the sound became louder again. Quickly, I stuff the map into my backpack and continue running. I find the large patch of dirt that was there when I entered and breathe a sigh of relief. I'm almost safe. But the sound is again right behind me and is louder than ever. Then it abruptly stops, and all I hear is the flickering of my torch. Now, I am more terrified than ever. I keep running until I trip and fall flat on my face. My disk shatters into 15 different pieces. I try to pick them all up, but there isn't enough time. I take what I have and continue running until I am out of the caves and above ground again. I look back and see a figure holding a disk and staring at me with two pure, blank, white eyes. Then they blink and turn away. The noise recedes until I can't hear it anymore. After all of that, I am shaken, and more than a little confused. I don't think my jukebox will play my disk anymore, so I set it down on a small hill. After walking for about 2 minutes I turn back. I see a creeper carrying my disk away. I think about going back to get it, but I figure the creeper will have a better use for it than I will. Now, safe, but alone, I return home to sleep. *TADAAAAA* That took me way too long XD
disc 11’s sounds may have just been a hint at an upcoming mob they were going to add, which explains the warden’s similar sounds to disc 11’s shriek.
The creepiest thing about disc 11 is the fact that we can literally see that it’s broken yet somehow it plays almost perfect audio of whatever happened to that man/mob
Usually that's not possible in real life but it's game logic so u can pretty much think of anything lol, I had a certain theory (I don't really mean 'my' theory because there might be skme theorist that already labeled these facts but) there was a entity before Steve and he was just like the player who broke blocks made homes or tools and went exploring, the disc here might be something of a documentary like this 'entity' might have been documenting something in this cave to sort of record his experiences or obsveration. I feel like there might be 'more' discs made by him, because unlike the others this has a sort of 'realistic' feel to it, like how he started coughing, or how started flipping some sort of page or paper sort of like a book (just mentioned in the video) it might be a journal to document this, and basically back then when I was trying to figure out the mystery I thought it was the endermen because the 'thing' screaming at the end was actually that of an endermen's cry. I thought of connecting the enchantment table with this disc but of course the enchantment table is only used to create enchantments and what not, so what I'm saying is this 'entity' might have created more of these 'disc 11' type discs that were probably 'erased' or lost from this world, the idea of a mob dropping a disc too is also a pretty wierd connection to this theory but I have feeling just like matpat said that the endermen were also a sort of civilization that was trapped in the end and turned into what has become now, I think this entity might have turned into a mob, but again you could here 'it' running from the creature and jumping into water, and then the disc cuts, I thought it was an endermen for sure because jumping straight into water makes it hard for the endermen to enter, but after the teaser for the warden mob there might be another connection to this disc, something proves that maybe this warden mob could have been the creature in the disc, there are many answers but what i like to think is that the 'entity' who recorded all of this could have ran away leaving disc 11 and maybe the creature in the disc might have destroyed it in the end, or leave some sort of scar (the most possible answer is if you look at the disc a part of it is missing). Unfortunately I was going to think this 'entity' might have died or turned into a mob because there is no such player just like steve or Alex that exists in minecraft. You can only see players or entities just like you see when you are playing multiplayer or you are using mods, other than that you can't really see a character like Steve or Alex in your world. Basically what I think of this theory is that disc 11 is a type of recording that was made or 'crafted' by this mysterious entity in the recording, in the end he runs away dropping his disc when a creature screeches and probably broke the disc which you can see the impact in disc 11, there is a type of connection between the warden or endermen in this disc. I think this entity might have crafted more discs that were lost or completely broken, these discs this mysterious entity created could possibly be his recording of his experiences but either way this is just a theory, A GAME THEORY

And to think the newest disc built in the ancient city is even more world building. It was such a cool experience and cannot wait for them to elaborate more in this cryptic way
I ran quickly through the cave, hoping to lose sight of the strange, purple glow I had seen. I only stopped when I thought the monster was gone. I lit my flint and steel to make sure the creature was gone, and stared into the blackness. I began to write in my journel about the thing when I heard a noise. I had only realized I had been holding my breath when I saw the glow again. I threw my flint and steel, rushing through the cave and hopefully towards an exit. The beast ran after me, but as I saw the light of day, a cold arm touched me. I faced back and killed the creature, its agonizing death cry ringing into the air..........

For me the disc 11 is about what is like to explore a minecraft cave in real life.A dark cave in which anything can jump on you.Thats why there is this realistic breathing which stand out of the rest.
I think its a combo of a few of them. The disc definitely does appear to be from the perspective of a mob, but its about a player running from a warden that an Enderman watches. At the beginning if listen closely you can hear what sounds like faint roars. The panicked breathing and rustling of tools sounds like a player confirming with a compass and map only to put them away after another faint roar. The player resuming running only in a panic strikes the Enderman that's watching only now realizing its there

8:35 it's very possible they planed for him writing a sort of journal or some kind of novel but not the exact details. Omg
i knew this
Yeah
Hmmm
i thought so, it makes sense because 13 is supposed to be ambience from 11 and the person was probably using 2 discs and they were recording them through both probably
To me it sounds like someone trying to make a fire with flint and steel, rustling of paper (possibly to add as kindling, implying that the fire didn't catch?), followed by another likely failed attempt to make fire, then some gravel digging or footstep sounds (likely trying to collect some flint to make another flint and steel), and, finally, what I think is the sound of rushing air as the protagonist is FALLING. I think the disc is a warning about one of the most bleak ways to die in the game, having a patch of gravel fall out from under you when disturbed and being plunged into a pit of darkness. It would explain why the disc is broken. This disc has a bleak and ominous overall tone to it that I think reflects well on the scenario I outlined above. Lots of cold silence and desolation. Under these circumstances, the human mind has been known to conjure up all sorts of creepies and crawlies to fill in the blanks, because we evolved in the wild and silence in the wild sometimes indicates the presence of a predator. I think this is why this disc has inspired so many to speculate on the presence of a hostile mob. And after watching your video on Herobrine, its pretty clear that the devs are more than willing to let the player base stew in their own fearful speculations inspired by vagueness since it drives engagement. I suspect that perhaps you are doing the same? Or maybe you fell for the tricks of the mind as well. No scary mobs, just an unremarkable death by gravity.
Another piece of information comes from the disc's sound file itself. When the sound file is opened in a sound editor, a spectrogram can be seen that includes a series of text fragments, including the words "where are we" and "end it."

MAtt
I love this so much it’s became my theory and I really want you to make something like this about the new discs so bad🙏🏽
About playing 11 and 13 together I think I have a pretty good foundation of what could be happening. The player (an ancient builder) has after, eating too much chorus fruits in the end, they start getting hallucinogenic nightmares of them being chased by themselves imagining how it would be like to be a player and being creeped the F****ked out when seeing themselves chasing them, and for some people that like big swings I have another theory, maybe you, steve are the endermen (who is getting nightmares) and when you (the endermen) enter the end are scared of dying to yourself that's why you put a pumpkin on your head and when you don't that's when the endermen (more copies of you since your in a nightmare) start attacking you. And the 'gods' that are talking about you after completing the game are actually your friends (other endermen) are talking about how you somehow were able to survive this while others didn't. Fun detail: Enderman’s noises are distorted, sometimes reversed, and sometimes pitched down English phrases.
So do u think this can been lend up to the end of the Audio
answer inside the version 1.11.1
I know. Matpat told me 😎
This is actually a pretty well known fact that doesn't take a lot of explanation since enderman have very similar appearances and character traits to a person, so much so it's a nice touch to add that reversed cry of an enderman sounds like its speaking to us
Like the one voice line? "Hey, what's up?"
The disc 11 sounds like someone's POV of a group of players discovering a warden...
Facts
I agree
then all of them died cuz teh wardrn is stronk.
To me, C418 could be an Enderman, but unlike others, it's a curious one. A Enderman that wants to learn things, but as you mentioned, got killed when spying on a player.
Here’s my theory: It starts with a player, maybe the anchient builders, searching the caves for ores. He then finds a ruined portal in the cave and tries to light it with flint and steel, that means the “scratch” noise we hear is a flint and steel. Now returning to the theory, he fails to light the portal, but there is a monster, waiting for him to finish or fail, and it wouldn’t matter what happened, the monster would kill the player. The player realises the monster is watching him and quickly runs away. He then runs on dirt and gravel, indicating that he is near the surface. He then quickly pulled out his sword, and killed the monster. I also agree with Wifles that the monster was a enderman, but if we consider the warden, we quickly can replace the enderman with the warden. Some of the weird noises sound like the warden in disk 11. Some of them being the noise when the warden is either staying still, or not recognising you (I legit don’t know it, but I know the sound is from a warden). An easy way to put the sound is that the sound is a sculk sensor. That’s it for my theory, also congrats! You made it to the end, have a cookie! 🍪 Edit: The warden part doesn’t fit along with the end noise, but if we ignore that part it really could be the warden!

I always thought it would've been cool if Endermen became passive trader mobs after you kill the Enderdragon. Like they were only hostile because they were under its control, and now that you've killed it, they're free to be themselves

i like that idea -

what if they increase prices if you stare, so they keep their no-stare behaviour

I feel like a genius after hearing the disk for the first time and immediately knowing that the metallic clicking noise was flint and steel, and this isn't confirmed but he mentioned the possibility, I was wondering what sound couldve made that noise at that time, and why the disk ended half way through the shriek, and I deduced that the shriek was the attack of which made whatever was recording this audio, break. And I remember that they built blocks and broke blocks (or in the other order; breaking blocks and building) which sounds like when you mine straight up and build below so that you can elevate and make room for yourself by breaking blocks, and placing those blocks below you, so that made me think that at the time of the shriek, the person was encased in stone, as if he had dug up and built below, then he wouldve encased himself in blocks (the forward, backward, left, and right exits were just stone, and above him was the block he was about to mine, and the block below, was the one he had just placed.) Thus, the attack had to either blow through all of the stone and kill the person, or just phase through all of the stone and kill the person, and my brain went "okay, theres a shriek that correlates with the audio ending (presumably death), and that attack had to travel through wal-... WAIT DUH ITS THE PERFECT DESCRIPTION OF THE WARDEN" Thanks for listening to my rant.

@@Valleyer bro what is that pls explain....
alright so heres something i found and thought about. so when i reversed the disc 11 sound, i heard something or someone saying "don't do it" 45 seconds in the reversed disc. its not that clear because its the screeching reversed, but some people confirm that they heard it too in one youtube video of the reversed disc 11 audio. I dont clearly know if maybe the person is telling the monster to allegedly "dont do it" referring to dont hurt me. or if it is the monster, then maybe its telling the player to not hurt it or dont run away, dont write it down on the journal, (maybe because that monster doesnt want anyone to find out about it) dont put me the monster on fire. i have this theory that the person set the monster on fire that's why they screeched before the audio ends, like screaming before they die. but thats impossible because we never heard something with the burning sound play in the disc. but that is just my theory.
love the Lemmino track in the intro!
In the “walking on stone” part of disc 11, it seems to me like someone mining stone. I also noticed that combining disc 11 and disc 13 seems to fill in the gaps of silences. It seems a player had relit a portal, walked on soulsand, digging an area to summon what seems to be a wither? The paper seems to be someone flipping a book in order to read instructions on how to make a Wither. I also noticed that if there is no disc 12, is disc 11 and 13 combined what disc 12 sounds like? I noticed that 11+13 is 24. Two discs, 24 divided by 2 is.. you guessed it, 12. (Although this is only my theory and the math part seems very specific to me.) Wait... no, something's missing.. wait. Why do parrots dance to disc 11 and 13? I need to do more research.

I like to believe the disk was a teaser for an update like the wither and they ended up adding story to the disc turning it into its own thing because of the fan base. From the player compass clicking weirdly because of the nether to the flipping of pages for how to create a wither to the screech. Farfetched but thats what I believe.
lemme tell you what that screech is. it could very easily be just a scratch but because of the warden theory, the screech could be the shrieker’s shriek instead which summons the warden after 3 strikes. whoever it was that was running, they definitely are in the mines and accidentally set off a skulk shrieker.

based on info from minecraft wiki... A recording that begins with vinyl static, followed by the sounds of someone walking on or breaking stone blocks, heavy breathing, and rustling. Haunting background noises are heard throughout the recording, resembling the ambient sound effects that play in the game's caves (and by extension, the sounds of the disc "13"). After the background noises quiet down for a moment, metallic clicking or scraping noises can be heard, followed by coughing, sounds of page-turning, then more clicking or scraping. The background noises resume more loudly, and the sounds of faster footsteps or breaking stone blocks can be heard, which accelerate until they are replaced with dirt sounds as the background noises approach. A loud, distorted noise is heard roughly a second before the recording abruptly stops. At this point, one hears only quiet beeping, vinyl static, and a hissing noise, and the track ends.
The mysterious character wasn't running on dirt / gravel etc, they were placing it. That's the placing sound effect, there were probably building up to escape something or maybe building a wall to block something off
The walking sound of that time was the breaking sound of today l

you can hear the sculk sensors in some parts of the disc. maybe it is related to the deep dark biome and the player is trying to escape the warden...
this is how I analyze the disc, each event described -static as the disc starts to play, similar to how a VHS tape has static when it starts -any block that makes a stone sound being placed, blocking off whatever is in pursuit of the recorder, with heavy breathing from running -flat sounds like an instrument of some kind, a chance it could be a voice, but that's a stretch -some kind of rock or hard surface/material hitting against something else, followed by coughing, the recorder has found safety for a bit -footsteps as they are walking around, followed with paper sounds -ambient noises intensify, like a piano being played as the recorder's heart begins to beat faster, evidenced by the heavier and faster breathing -more running sounds/block placing sounds, it seems the pursuer has gotten onto the trail of the recorder again -everything intensifies, the block placing, the breathing, and the recorder runs out of hard material and has to start placing dirt or anything that makes the same sound -the pursuer corners the recorder in a dead end of a cave, with the dog (yes, this isn't similar to how dogs sound in minecraft, but still) -in their final moments, the dog begins to growl and bark in a desperate attempt to scare away the pursuer and protect its owner as the creature closes in -static, representing the killing of the dog and recorder by the creature, and destruction of any of the recorder's belongings, which is why the disc was found on the body broken
I always thought it sounded like soemone running and heavy breathing like they are being chased by a mob in a cave. I also thought the clicking was him lighting a torch. eleven still scares me today lol
this is my interpretation, a minecraft player was in a cave from what i heard in the disc, something was chasing him which sounded like a enderman. He had a flint and steal to try to light up the area so he was building up with blocks to try to block the mob from coming closer, and since there was heavy breathing it seemed like he was running away.
Well i think this is what happened so This takes place in Cave 3 since it has similar sounds And a player was running away to one Enderman A Creeper And Two Skeletons damn that would make sence since he has heavy breathing man he was running away and he was stepping gravel he would then hide he would then hide and he was writing in his journal then the mobs found him the skeleton accidentaly killed a skeleton there was a ravine with water a creeper sneaked on to him and the player jumps on the water and exploded but before he exploded the skeleton hit the creeper at the same time when it exploded the creeper will drop Disc 13 And Enderman would teleport to the player but the player would get the upper hand by having a flint and steal lighting up the enderman on fire and accidentaly kiling it self teleporting to water and died The Enderman will then drop Disc 11
