Lunteren Fire Department: A very serious accident has happened on the Meulunterseweg in Lunteren.
Two people died and one person was seriously injured.
A van left the road and crashed into a tree.
The emergency center responded to this serious report by means of HV.
This means that two fire brigades are alerted.
In this case, the Lunteren fire brigade and the Valk fire brigade.
The emergency vehicle from the Ede center fire brigade was also called to the scene with extra material and tools.
Furthermore, several ambulances, police and trauma helicopters were called.
Ik reageer niet vaak onder video's maar bij deze vond ik het wel even nodig. Ik volg dit kanaal al een tijdje nu, en een kennis van mij zit ook bij de vrijwillige brandbaar. Heb alleen verhalen gehoord en jullie video's gezien, maar het zelf nooit meegemaakt. Met deze reactie wil ik even mijn diepste en uiterste respect uitspreken voor jullie. En uiteraard ook voor alle andere mensen die bij de (vrijwillige) hulpdiensten werken. Wat vind ik dit indrukwekkend om te zien. Uiteraard niet alleen bij deze, maar bij alle opgaven die jullie uitvoeren. Echt heel diep respect voor de rust en pricisie die jullie houden tijdens deze hele heftige melding onder andere. Heel veel sterkte gewenst aan het slachtoffer en de nabestaanden van de overledenen. Jullie mogen echt trots zijn op het werk wat jullie keer op keer leveren, en dus ook absoluut bij deze hele moeilijke uitruk. Dit wou ik toch even gezegt hebben. Het ga jullie goed, en heel veel succes met wat de toekomst gaat brengen. Diep respect

Toen dit ongeval in de landelijke media was, was ik in de veronderstelling dat jullie hier vast geen video van zouden maken. Vast te veel stress om met camera's bezig te zijn, te veel heftige emoties, te choquerend voor een groot publiek. Daarom vind ik het des te knapper hoe jullie de hulpverlening bij dit zware ongeval toch in beeld hebben weten te brengen. Met respect voor de slachtoffers, respect voor alle collega-hulpverleners, niet té confronterend voor de kijkers en ondanks de grote tijdsdruk en stress toch de hele hulpverlening van begin tot eind perfect op beeld. Heel knap gedaan. En jullie mogen echt trots zijn op hoe hecht jullie als team met elkaar om gaan. Daar kan menig organisatie wat van leren.

Prachtig verwoord!. Toen ik het nieuwsbericht zag en op de foto enkele brandweerlieden van Lunteren ontdekte, was ik idd ook van mening dat er geen video over zou komen, maar toch. Heel mooi om te zien hoe professioneel alles verlopen is!
Nederland heeft toch wel een geweldig goed georganiseerde en professionele hulpverlening hé. Ben oprecht trots op hoe dit gedaan wordt. Hoop dat iedereen beseft dat dit op andere plekken in de wereld geen vanzelfsprekendheid is. Dikke complimenten en respect.

Na 25 jaar als vrijwillige brandweerman in Duitsland kan ik zeggen dat er altijd gebeurtenissen zijn die je niet loslaten. In mijn geval was het een verkeersongeval waarbij 4 jonge mensen, die elkaar allemaal hadden gekend bij de brandweer, om het leven kwamen. Ik kan de beelden vandaag nog steeds voor me zien, maar ik heb het ondertussen mentaal verwerkt. Maar het laat je nog steeds niet gaan. Ik wens je daarom veel sterkte tijdens zulke missies en dat je ze goed aankunt. Het is nooit gemakkelijk, dat mogen we nooit vergeten.
Waar discipline, vakmanschap, teamgeest en wilskracht toe kunnen leiden...... wat een fantastische klus hebben jullie geklaard. Te redden viel er maar 1, echter hebben jullie gevochten als leeuwen , 1 team dat als een goed geoliede naaimachine liep. Grote klasse
As a police officer from the Czech republic, I work closely with our local fire deparment. These guys are so well trained and always have the right tools and knowledge for every situation. Kudos to you and every firefighters.
I love that the fire chief really takes time to talk to his men to make sure they're okay after seeing such a gruesome scene. I love even more that when the chief asked if they needed to speak with a therapist they said "No, we have each other". That's real brotherhood right there.
Meinen größten Respekt für diese hochprofessionelle Rettung (Bergung) der Unfallopfer. Das hat mich sehr beeindruckt, wie konzentriert, ruhig aber so schnell wie möglich gearbeitet wurde. Ich möchte den Angehörigen der Verletzten und Verstorbenen mein tiefes Mitgefühl ausdrücken. Ich bin seit 34 Jahre professioneller Retter in Süddeutschland und weiß wie wichtig die Unterstützung durch die Freiwilligen Feuerwehr im Notfall ist.

Hier zie je goed hoe al die uren aan training tot uiting komen. Heftig en emotioneel, waar jullie als team deden waarvoor jullie getraind zijn, het redden van levens.
From Australia, thoughts and prayers go to the family's of the deceased, a few of the guys from the brigade said that this was there first fatality they attended, boys its never easy to get over the scene of a fatality, you might be allright for the first 1 or 2 weeks but then you start asking yourself "why couldn't it have been different". With emergency services here in Australia, depending on how horrific the accident is, they strongly suggest that anyone who worked on the scene of a fatality they are to be taken off duty and be put into a counseling session regardless if they are fine and ok, blokes never ever feel ashamed to see and talk to a professional what you saw that night. As a retired volunteer firefighter in the u.s. I know how tough the job can be and how rewarding it can be. The response to this call was amazing. You all did a great job on this call given the circumstances. It makes me proud to see such dedication from fellow firefighters. Thank you and keep up the excellent work.
Very impressive. Glad to see how everyone was cool but quick, it’s calls like this where you just can’t help but get a bit of an adrenaline surge and you have to fight to keep it under control constantly.

Bijna drie kwartier ademloos zitten kijken hoe jullie deze bijzonder ernstige melding zeer professioneel hebben opgepakt. RIP voor de slachtoffers uiteraard! Er was geen TCO nodig, maar je kon wel goed zien dat de hele inzet indruk heeft gemaakt op de mannen. Top gewerkt!
from experience the two persons who very sadly passed away where beyond your help before you got there, the person you rescued, you gave the very best chance of survival. Again from experience, when you get information of multiple casualties and entrapments as your en route to the incident you know its going to be a bad job and challenging both technically and emotionally. the Lunteren guys as always very professional and proficient and I wouldnt hesitate in working with you guys on an incident. Please remember your mental health also doing this type of work takes its toll. As always stay safe, Mark.

Hard when these events hit, I had 30 yrs of these types of incidents, body recoveries from the Sea also nothing nice. Never did I shed a tear, but these things build up in the memories and if not released will lead to significant problems, I was diagnosed with severe PTSD and forced out of employent with no help from the employer. Im glad to see that you all debrief properly that is half the way to a good outcome. God Bless .
Hell of a accident, but you guys did the best job you could for the victims. I appreciate that you included the debrief after the victims were extricated. other videos don't show that side of accidents like this, and what the firefighters are thinking after having to work in that kind of situation. great job to all who had to work this accident. stay safe brothers.

I once was on the scene of an accident, where a truck ran into a mini-bus full of teenagers. I went to help, mostly holding things, pushing there and there as requested. I let the trained people do the intervention on the persons. It was 20 years ago and I still dream about it sometime. You guys do an awesome job. I will propose my help as a free translator (English Thai) to the first responders of my village once I am fully retired ans settled down.

Please take the time to hug all of your children and loved ones, and As someone who was told of the death of 24 of his brothers, while on a mission of his own,...talk to the TCO, it should never hurt to talk to them. Gezien de impact van dit ongeluk niet verwacht dat jullie hiervan beelden online zouden zetten, maar wat hebben jullie de beelden op een zeer nette manier bewerkt zodat het wel geschikt is om te plaatsen. Diep respect voor jullie inzet elke keer weer. Jullie mogen trots zijn zo'n team te hebben. Met respect dit tragisch ongeval in beeld gebracht. De stress en emoties zijn voor de kijker voelbaar maar het teamgevoel overheerst.
Alweer knap teamwork. Ook fijn te zien dat er tijd gemaakt wordt voor een nabespreking. Gelukkig worden de manschappen tegenwoordig ook beschouwd als mensen.

There have been many comments about your excellent work on scene (and they are all correct), so let me just add: I really appreciate and support the fact that your leadership is so open and forward with psychological care. Unfortunately, this is still a difficult topic in the first responder community and it speaks volumes of your leadership and your brotherhood that you integrate this into the after-action debrief on scene. It is so important to talk these incidents through and share what happened, because it is so much easier to live with the full picture than with just the "flash images" you might retain if you're just focussed on what you saw yourself. First fatal crash is always a thing you have to process a while, but I like how much support you got from your leadership.
That is perhaps the only thing I found slightly disappointing from this scene. I got the impression that having a group of men in a chat, none of them will admit if they need to talk things over - its the way things are. I would have thought a first fatal should have further talks by default.....
Exactly, we do the same here in Denmark. And we have both colleague-support and psychologists on standby if needed in such situations. @ayl3166, that’s where you’re somewhat wrong. They were honest about it, and would have said something if need be. How I know this, is because I am a firefighter myself and has had the exact same speech when we have been at fatal accidents (car accidents, fires and so on). At my first fatal accident was also a car accident, I did not need help either. - As sad as it is, it is what it is. But the great part is knowing that the ones standing next to you is always there for you, and we do use each other to talk things over. And you can always get help, if something should pop up at a later point. ☺️ But I can see you point of taking ones first experience with fatality a step further, and of course that would be a preventive step. ☺️
@@Falle24 Thanks for that info. Its good to hear from the inside about how it works. All I am saying is that once the first few (experienced) firefighters declined, there is a underlying "shame" in admitting ones want/need to get help. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong and happy to take that!
@@ayl3166 I get where you're coming from, but you can't force professional help on people who don't feel like they need it right now. It is good to talk the incident through to get a clear picture of what happened for everybody and to settle emotions, letting the adrenaline run out and see where you stand then, but that is all you can do in the first minutes. One should also keep in mind that (a) seeing a dead body is not as yarring to us firefighters and paramedics as it is to the general public, because we have trained for it and had the chance to mentally prepare for it - it's still not a nice thing to see, but you know it's going to happen at some point and you have to be okay with that before you even get on the rig - and (b) the level of brotherhood most firefighters have does allow for genuine peer support on a level that is often surprising when you only know them as "a group of macho guys" and not in their civilian life. I'm willing to bet that two or three of these gentlemen went out to have a beer after this together and had a conversation that would surprise many who only know firefighters from hollywood.

Hats off to all of you, great work, the crash rescue went realy good, you very likely saved this one. Regarding your mental health: You may think, you dont need help short after this, because your adrenalin runnning like a river out of your ears. BUT, dont be shy, if you have problems the next day, the days after, talk about it, and ask for help. This is such a great team, noone will be alone. Stay save out there, greetings from Germany

Hi! What does the "TCO" mean? Thanks in advance. It's terrible to see what 50 kmph collision with a tree can do to a van. Excellent job, gentlemen.
Team Collegiale Ondersteuning. Basicly, some people from within the fire department who have had extra training in how to handle mentally traumatic experiences. The firefighters in the TCO are familiar with the work and help to guide the firefighters when they need help. Not only right after, but also when you are having e.g. insomnia days after.
Big trees do not absorb the incoming energy of the impact ( in fact returns the incoming energy ) so already at 50 kmh any impact unfortunally often is lethal.
Plus: the energy of the collision is concentrated on a small area (the width of the tree). Recipe for disaster.
Add to that the fact that, until very recently, they didn't actually crash-test vans and trucks. Now that they've started, they've realised just HOW bad vans of all types are in a collision. The results have been eye-wateringly, shockingly bad. And that's just the van itself dealing with a collision, nevermind any load in the back being added to the equation.
You know when the entire engine and everything attached to it has been ripped out of the front, that it was a real hard crash. Those two occupants who sadly died didn't stand a chance, and were likely dead on impact. Which is perhaps the only small comfort their families, loved ones and friends will get out of this whole thing - chances are they didn't suffer. The third surviving even to the point of being able to be removed is a miracle. I hope they went on - or will go on - to make a good recovery and I hope being the only survivor doesn't beat them up. Once again, stellar job from the lads! Hope you guys take good care of yourselves and your mental health, especially after this particular incident. I expect it never gets any easier to deal with.

Ik heb een paar tranen in mijn ogen. Van de auto niks over, wat niet erg is. Het moeilijkste is om het de familie te vertellen dat de familielid niet meer leeft. Heeft veel sterkte.

Thank you for showing this. I think it is important to give an accurate portrayal of some of the calls the emergency services respond to and the stress involved. It would be east to not publish this and give a false representation that all calls are minor and easy to deal with. An unfortunate, but very real outcome in many instances. I hope the Brandweer officials continue to allow these videos to be published. Many of us recognize the incredible amount of hard work that goes into reliving and editing these incidents into something that can be approved for release for the benefit of many.

Beste collega's. Zoals je zelf weet, kan het leven lang of kort zijn. Ik ben blij om te zien dat je de overledene met hetzelfde respect behandelt als wij, het is niet gemakkelijk om voor God te moeten spelen, om prioriteit te moeten geven aan wie de grootste kans heeft om te leven. Dat je er ook voor elkaar bent, zie je heel duidelijk, zowel door je werk, maar ook daarna.."We hebben elkaar". Bedenk dat het geen schande is om ervaringen met iemand anders te moeten delen.. Amazing work from all involved. Thankyou for keeping in the debriefing, for showing that TCO was offered, especially to those who attended their first fatal accident. Even though you likely knew from the beginning that those two were deceased you all gave your fullest to try and extract them anyway. It can be hard to not dwell on the two that didn't make it, just try to remember that because of your auctions, one man survived. Keep up the great work.
As a fellow member of a volunteer firefighters in Poland I know how it feels to operate around people which you can't help :/ Recently we had a a man father of 2 crash in a motorcycle no chances of survival... I wish you guys all good and keep doing the good work! Love from OSP KSRG Strzyżów :)
