The events this game is based on took place around the same time as the industrial revolution in the UK, meaning that Galarian Weezing has existed for a while now. I'm also pretty sure the British Empire took part in Japan's expansion to Hokkaido (real life Hisui/Sinnoh), hence why we see a Galarian Weezing sculpture there.

I think this game takes place a few hundred years ago, rather than thousands. I can imagine that the Pokémon do help with furthering technological advancements. Especially with the Galaxy Expedition Team (Team Galactic) being all about future-y, spacey sci-fi stuff.

I’m thankful for the leaks because I fully intended to build my team but I wanted to do it beforehand but a I knew they wouldn’t announce them all. I wanted to use all new Pokémon but I didn’t want to wait for bubapedia/serebi. All I checked for leaks were Pokémon Pokédex and stats. All I will say is that the new Pokémon are sick as hell

little tip when you play if you sneak to a pokemon and trow your pokemon ball and you get 2 turns and this can be key to some battles
I just finished the game and I'm in the post game. All I can say is the game is a solid 10/10. This is the most fun I've ever had in a video game

Cliffe it’s not based thousands of years ago it’s based during the industrial revolution when the area of Japan wasn’t as advanced as the rest of the world and was mostly sorta tribes and locked off of the rest of the world

My thoughts as to why you have an iPhone is because of... plain and simple... time travel. It’s an already established concept in Pokémon, and this way in a future game they can justify letting you bring Pokémon from Legends Arceus into the newer games despite them not existing anymore. The Arc Phone was probably just sent back in time by accident.

I still think it would've been cool if instead of a cellphone they used messenger starly. Imagine a short cutscene of a starly appearing with a letter that informs you of something like go meet the professor at such and such place. The letter could pop up on the screen like it's being unrolled. It would be so cool
It's actually a good idea, using Starly or other bird Pokémon as messenger is much more preferable. If it's placed in an ancient Sinnoh surely cellphone is out of place.
Spoiler for the intro to the game: You the player are from the future, so this game is technically an isekai. The Arc phone is what happens when god asks if you've got games on it.

(NOT A SPOILER BECAUSE IT'S THE FIRST THING YOU SEE IN THE GAME) In the very beginning of the game it's revealed that your protagonist is actually the Diamond & Pearl protagonist sent back in time by Arceus himself, and the Arc phone is a normal cellphone that was upgraded by Arceus so it could work in the ancient times. (NOT A SPOILER BECAUSE IT'S THE FIRST THING YOU SEE IN THE GAME)
The game doesn’t take place in “ancient times”. Look at the architecture and clothing. It’s late 1800’s Japan. Some characters even have ties and suits.

This game looks amazing. This game is what they should of done with pokemon from the beginning. Free roam actually get too control your player like running jumping and maybe even climbing. This is going too be the best pokemon game ever. I wonder how they are going too top it in the years too come.
