Why don't you open the door, instead of trying to guage the area where the step is giong to be mounted.....
Took me 1.5 hours to do 1 step on my '12 silverado crew cab lol.. the rocker panel isn't solid and has spaces and reinforcement panels so it was hard to get it lined up and centered. Make sure to get a car wash first because I had dirt falling all over me which was a pain

The directions say to use 1/8" to a 5/16" hole. Where do you get the drill bit you mentioned from?
These came on my dodge when I bought it, rockers were rusted to hell, these were held on basically by a chunk of rust. Got rid of them, installed new rocker panels and Bedlined it...never will I ever drill into my rockers. If you wanna be cheap go ahead and do it, just spray about a gallon of paint around your drill holes and hope water doesnt get in there. Gonna fab up some Nerf bars soon.

Trying to mount bbs1103-2 on a75 f-150
Ese estribo queda mejor pasando un perno 3/8 con un fish wire y colocando una arandela en la parte trasera para cuadrar la pieza.. un tornillo autorroscante tiende a aflojarse...
Way to complicated! Should be a bracket to the frame with two bolts! Not drilling into the rocker planes! It's going to rust an fall clean off,especially in Ohio salt and my 350lb wife!
What if the rocker panel is rusted?
Wondering if any one else had this issue. When I received these, the mounting brackets were not the multi mounting brackets. They are not the ones that are in this video. I have reached out to carr about the issue, but I have not gotten a response. I purchased them back in November of 2016. The mounting brackets that came with the Hoop II step's look cheaper and the installation will be completely different from this video. any one else have this issue?
I currently have the same issue. I received 4 mounting brackets that don't have that curve on each side of the bracket and don't see any tutorial video and don't know how to install SOMEONE PLEASE HELP

really don't like the idea of using rocker panel asking for problems. Frame mount is the way to go
Rocker panels are a good mounting point unless you live in rust central. The frame is a stronger surface but the stress on the mounting bolts can be greater vs mounting on rocker panels, since frame brackets stick out longer and have to bear greater leverage.

If you used the proper tools then you wouldn't look like an incompetent dork. You can buy short drill bits or preferably an angle drill, but drilling on an angle is just bad workmanship and being ham fisted.
