Dere er best! Kan ikke vente til å se dere opptre foran hele Europa snart! ❤❤ vanvittig kvalitet i alt dere leverer!
Your brilliant xxx
I'm italian and I am kinda proud about our italian entry at ESC this year, It's nice but I will root and vote for Norway cause It's so on another level of epicness and magnificence, damn, this is how you do music.
Proud of my Norwegian brothers and sisters for showung their proud folklore elements in music for ESC. Followed the mgp final with my Norwegian wife and we were so please. Love from Sweden.
Loved this song!
This isn't a goofy Eurovision song but a real song -amazing feelings and performance. Who cares if this win or not. This song is a gift!!🥰🥰🥰
This was really good. The vocalist is incredible....truly. The music was done really well, and this is a great mix, considering it looks like a live performance.
They are an amazing live band, been at it for over 20 years! You should check out some of their live performances on KZhead 🥳
Right dude! Was not ready for how amazing this would be.
This is a live performance.
Because this is live performance
super vauUUUU!!!
Out of this world performance ♥️🇳🇴🙏🇳🇴
So true
Yes yes Gåte for the win❤🎉❤🎉❤
Soooo good
If u wanna connect with literally anyone from anywhere, Eurovision is the place. Come along man ur welcome here
I can agree, as an American metal fan I got into eurovision a few years ago the community is the best part aside from the music. Everyone's welcome. I made so many friends that I'm actually going to Europe to visit a few of them next month
Agreed! 😄
@@al.m765 that's so awesome! i'm wishing you a great trip!
Hell ya! That means a ton!
@@al.m765So happy for you! It is an open community.
They are an incredible band. If this doesn't win this year there's something incredibly wrong with the competition.
I guess Italy and Ukraine are also looking for the win this year, so I'm quite hesitant about this because alternative music always has a harder time to win at Eurovision compared to popular mainstream entries like the ones from Italy and Ukraine. Let's see what happens!
Sadly in last 10 years, its all about politics, my county 🇭🇷 is favorite for win, but I think that Sweden, Ukraine and Italy will be top 3 becuose of jurrie, hope im wrong... And hope 🇳🇴 will have great result, absolutely love that song...
That was some performance. Not only was it musically complex and complete, but the staging was absolutely amazing. The whole thing certainly drew you in.
It was like a magic ritual deep in the forest.
If you liked it, check the backstory. It's over 1000 years old.
Norway Gate is the best i am from Poland but i live in Germany
When I saw that this won the national final, it became my number 1! The staging captured me! Everything about it I loved!
So glad you checked out this live version, it's just on a completely different level! :D I can say from personal experience that Gåte is an amazing live band, as I got to see them last year. Incredible performances all around, and such a unique concert! More than just a concert, that was an experience!
You are right. This felt like a completely different song.
She is one of the best vocalists in northern Europe
Imma say it here, it's gonna win. I'm confident
Thank you so much for this reaction! The singer actually sang at my cousins wedding when she was young, and my uncle helped the band getting started financially. My family was at the edge of their seats during the finale! This band is truly amazing!
THATS INSANE!!! Wow what a special memory!
Wow that is amazing ! I'm so happy for you all that they won, music won, this song makes me feel alive, I'm out of words for sure !
Congrats for having a family that helped the band being born! Thank you and your relatives because of them we got to hear of this fabulous band, Gåte! 🔥
Gåte’s music is a dark, mesmerizing and stunningly beautiful take on Nordic folk. Where they flirt with elements from traditional Norse and pagan music as well as from more modern genres like rock and industrial. The chorus is a socalled KULOKK, - the maiden calling the cattle in from the the mountains. The roots of this song is a thousand years old.
Awesome reaction🤘 Gåte is pronounced more like gaw-teh. English lyrics: [Sample: Vocalization; Marit Jensen Lillebuen] [Verse 1] I was such a beautiful maiden My stepmother evil, my mother she died She turned me into a sword and a needle And sent me to the king's estate And the anger my stepmother felt the most That all the stately liked me best [Chorus: Vocalization] [Verse 2] Then she gave me skin like a grey wolf She cursed me to walk the forest alone And never will I bе whole and good Before I drink my brothеrs' blood [Chorus: Vocalization] [Outro: Vocalization, Storm] I then tore out her heart So her blood flowed free Then I got to drink my brothers' blood
Thank you so much!❤
right .... and it means "riddle" ☺
What the stepmom and brother the same person? I don't get the gåte
@@ShaneBoy The stepmom was pregnant with her half brother😉 The band is called Gåte, not the song😊
This was the exact reaction i had when i heard the semifinal version, except i got a tear as well. I followed Gåte since the beginning and this performance just blew my mind. I knew they would do good but man, this truly topped it. Thanks
Yeah we are kind of proud. It's a 1000 year old tale. It's full of emotions and history. Gåte ftw
Loved it!
Norwegian here. I don’t really follow Eurovision, but I gotta admit, that was pretty cool.
Hell ya!
This is of another level. Great reaction!
Thanks so much for being here.
Amazing. Can't wait to watch Eurovision as we always do.. I think they have a really good chance at winning, wow!!
Love from Norway❤
Much love from West Virginia!
No matter how many times I listen to the song (and it's been A LOT till now) - I always get goosebumps. This is why I love Eurovision. I get to know bands like Gate. Bands, that will stay on my playlist forever with all their music 💚
It has been such a fun journey for me diving into these artists! Thanks so much for being here.
If this dont give you goosebumps nothing will😅❤❤❤🎉😊
Lots of love from Jæren Norway ❤
appreciate you so much!
Just WOooW!!!!❤😮😮😮
Soooo good!
I am convinced they only put in that bass pause in the choruses so he could spin his bass
Yup, that’s why we all told you to check out the live performance 😅 your gobsmacked reaction, I laughed out loud 🤣 it is just so ridiculously good!
you were right! hahah This was incredible!
I don't know what Sweden is gonna send yet but if we send smth bad i'll root for Norway. This song is awesome.
Ohhh sweden has sent anything?
Not yet, there will be 2 more subcompetitions and then the "second chance", then the winner of it all will be sent. Btw, you might wanna check out or 2012 esc winner "Euphoria", both the original and Floor's even better cover of it.@@TheWolffAndTheMelody
Sweden is hosting the event this year, because the won last year. Sweden's contribution this year are a pair of norwegian twins called Markus and Martinus, with a song that I allready has forgotten ( not bad, just not memorable)
@@lindasynnvewahlmann7766 I agree. Its not bad but kinda generic, it goes in through one ear and out through the other.
I love this song!!
So epic they went all out on this one. Her voice brings chills, Musically was very good as well. The performances and staging were spectacular. I got nothing but good things to say here. ❤ and ✌️
yea dude this was so much fun!
Fantastic reaction :D :D
This open and heartfelt reaction brought a new light to the song. thanks for sharing 🙏
Much love friend!
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody ❤
Awesome song! The nyckelharpa (the keyed instrument being played with a bow) linked the music to the song's medieval roots. From Bandcamp's description of the song: “Ulveham” is based on a medieval balled, and like other historical legends and songs it carries an important moral. The song is a story of young maiden that undergoes a series of injustices, but by upholding justice and goodness, even in the toughest trials, she triumphs over evil forces and breaks the curse placed upon her."
Ohhh understanding that message makes this song so much more powerful.
Love this song. Proud Norwegian.
Hahah your reaction was EPIC!! Or like we say in Norway «heilt sinnsjukt»😆 I hope you check out their EP "Vandrar" in your own time. The full version of Ulveham is on that one. Much love🖤
Dude I plan to dive into their music. This was so good.
Once I saw this live in the finals, I was convinced. Chills!! It's so, so beautiful!!
Best reaction i have seen so far to Ulveham, you let the song play out and reacted after, thank you.
Ya dude, I feel like part of the reaction is watching the person take in the song. See their face react to the music. I hate to pause. I rarely do.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody Well since you're my favorite react person now, i like to give you a tip, search for "GÅTE feat. DJERV - Svarteboka"
Takk så mye fra oss GÅTE.
the reaction makes me smile every time- Coming from a proud norwegian man ;D
Band name is pronounced GAW-teh and translates to "riddle". Fantastic reaction video. Sometimes words don't seem to quite make the cut.
music from out of this world
Love your reaction, love your vibe and the love you send ❤️❤️❤️ I can feel it 🥰🥰🥰 You are awesome🎉
Aww you are too kind!
Takk ifra sjælen❤ Hilsen fra GÅTE🍀
Thank you so much for creating a video also of the live final performance! ❤❤🎉
Love your reaction😍
I appreciate that so much! This song was so beautiful!
Norway is thanking you for your review 🇧🇻 Especially your speechlessness that left me speechless...loved it😍😅
Yay, you did the live one too. I was a bit confused as to why you did the studio version. Half the spectacle of Eurovision are the stage shows ^^
Great perfomance!
If you desire to see a live performance from the band that arguably is even more impressive, look up ' Gåte - Knut Liten (Live in Oslo at Rockefeller Music Hall)'.
Seconded. Visually even more impressive is IMO their live performance of "Margit Hjukse", to be found on the youtube-channel Den Norske Kanonn.
Gåte❤️🎶🎵
is it the norwegian candidate for eurovision song contest? the quality this year seems to be really high.
Yes it is❤️
@@anne-grethehegstad7424 så flott! hilsen til norge!
This song is amazing, and her voice is great to... good luck 🇳🇴 from 🇭🇷 .. 🙃
I loved your reaction😅 amazing song. Love from me in Norway❤️🇳🇴🇳🇴🇳🇴❤️
Appreciate you being here! Much love!
You got to listen to the extended version. It is twice as long.
I love the Slovenian entry since i am slovenian and biased :D BUT I would be ok to loose to Norway... It is an amazing song and it keeps escalating, really impressed
My favourite reaction to this magnificence - could see how deeply you felt this as I did when watching it for the first time. Thank you for your words at the end - words we don't hear often enough
Thanks so much for being here friend! Just trying to spread some love!
i never coment, but ur reaction was/is priceless , thank you, i saw the first 1
appreciate you friend
I was there... 🥹 So lucky to be able to see that performance live. So happy that Norway made the best possible choice! Norge, lykke til i Malmö! 🫶
I bet it was such a great experience.
Your message of love to oneself at the end there caught me by surprise. Thank you for reminding me
appreciate you friend!
Powerful and magical YES. This song is sung in a language from the viking era , 1000 years back . Today we speak a completely different language in Norway
Dude, it’s sung in nynorsk, not old Norse. Completely intelligible when you read the lyrics even if some of her words are a little outdated.
Que esta obra de arte haya quedado la última en el festival de Eurovisión 2024 ya me enseña como este festival está apañado por la política centroeuropea😂
I really love what you said about connection, how we are not connected and lonely despite all out technology. SUBBED! Also really love your enthusiasm about Gåte xD I love them so much
I really appreciate the kind words. I just want to leave a positive impact on the world while im here. Also this song was so beautiful and powerful.
Gate❤
Check out the longer original album version on KZhead.
Takk❤
Hi Tommy !!! The closest pronounsiation to the letter Å/å in English I would say would be the aw sound you guys have. Like in awesome or saw. The last E in Gåte sounds like the E in English "End" or "Endless". The word Gåte means Riddle in English. Greets !!!
Thanks for explaining.
The song itself is inspired by a norwegian medieval folklore/ballade. Ulveham means wolfskin English lyrics: [Sample: Vocalization; Marit Jensen Lillebuen] [Verse 1] “I was such a beautiful maiden My stepmother evil, my mother she died She turned me into a sword and a needle And sent me to the king's estate And the anger my stepmother felt the most That all the stately liked me best [Chorus: Vocalization] [Verse 2] Then she gave me skin like a grey wolf She cursed me to walk the forest alone And never will I bе whole and good Before I drink my brothеrs' blood [Chorus: Vocalization] [Outro: Vocalization, Storm] I thеn tore out her heart So her blood flowed free Then I got to drink my brothers' blood”
Your reaction was like mine... I just stopped ... it's so good!
What an experience.
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody like being caught in the middle of a storm!!!!
So yes, this is why Gothminister didn't get more votes on the night, I believe I wasn't the only rock/metal fan who leaned toward this magical performance. I'm happy to see you appreciating this song now, and even happier for Norway to have this masterpiece represent them at Eurovision. With much love 🖤
and in ur first accent was gate (like in english)
I would have loved Gothminister to go, but this is just as great in my opinion. A great mix of Nightwish, Within Temptation and Eluveitie ❤ totally up my ally. Since I don't expect much of our own NF (🇩🇪) this will probably be the one I am rooting for if Sweden don't send Smash into Pieces 😅
Gothminister was okay, but super annoying with one line of lyrics repeated over and over and over....
💖💖
I love your reaction.
Thank you so much. This was such a great song to experience.
Hehe 😂❤❤❤❤
Love your reaction as always. The name of the song "ulveham" means more than being dressed as a wolf. It is actually being in a wolfs body (= hamnskifte = what Anoana is doing in Heilungs movie that you reacted on). The corresponding shift to a bear is björnsärk (or berserk as you call it in english), more well known maybe. Wearing a ulveham will also make you a werewolf, which are not knewn to be very nice. Actually the song is based on a more than 1000 year old saga in old norse (can be described in very good and accurate detail in kzhead.info/sun/h6ySiaihgZWwgoU/bejne.html&ab_channel=EurovisionHistories ). That saga was picked up by the Grimm brother's which started the saga of Snowwhite which is an offspring of this, but far less bloody and more symbolic
And Norway really deserves to win this year! So much musical talent is this neighbouring brother of us!
Almost, Gaw-teh - the last E pronounced as a spanish E
I love Gåde's powerful version and hope they win the whole Eurovision contest! Heja Norge!!! 😘🇧🇻✌️ Love from Sweden! Btw, here's a video with english translations of all the (dark) lyrics from this old Scandinavian/Norse ballad for anyone interested... kzhead.info/sun/l7CSm9OfrZ-njJ8/bejne.htmlsi=CixZdaz-ixhoo8WW The ballad is called Vedergällningen (The Revenge?) by Garmarna, an old swedish folk-rock group. So not to be confused by Varulven (The Werewolf) which is another old scandinavian folkballad, kzhead.info/sun/oahxfa99enWaq5s/bejne.htmlsi=rGwsGWTBXCoBY6Kn
Much love friend!
if you want to learn a scandinavian language, norwegian would be my reccomendation. easy vocabulary, easy grammar and no complicated traps when speaking it. and you can easily expand to danish and swedish
Very true! Norway is like the most basic of the languages, simple but to the point and most clear.
You will teach me?
@@TheWolffAndTheMelody hahaha, i'm so impatient while teaching! but since you plan a trip to sweden, check out her channel, she is really good in teaching a language! @KatrinBerndtSWE slow swedish for beginners
I almost never put a comment on YT but your reaction touched me as much as this incredible performance itself. I'm a huge Eurovision fan from Poland and that's why I love this competition - it's the perfect occasion to discover such talented artists like Gåte, that I'd probably never find myself. Amazing, stunning, the level out of this world... Thank you for your reaction and I'm happy that I also discovered your channel. Your last words almost made me cry my soul out, because I could feel your emotions and the message you wanted to share mixed with my own experience, feelings and sadness together. Take care of yourself, you are a wonderful and beautiful person ♥
You are way too kind! I don't take for granted those words of you sharing and expressing this much love. Thank you for speaking up. You never know the effect we have on people! I love connecting and talking life with people, so this channel is more than just reactions to me.
That's why I will stay here for a bit longer. Thank you :) @@TheWolffAndTheMelody
Their band name is pronounced more like gohteh
Gåte = Riddle Ulveham _ dressed like a wolf or "in the shape of a wolf". Quite a brutal story.
ulv means wolf, and ham is hide..
I love the reaction! Did you see Gåte new video for Ulveham that they released yesterday? It's is incredible! Can you please react to it too?? ❤️
Funniest part. The so called expert in sweden on mgp. Said .. doesent matter who wins in sweden. They have no chance. And Sweden and Norway with out love and hate thing.. Said alot. No way in hell ANYONE from sweden would say this unless he was 100% sure
Statistically, Denmark wins the year after Sweden, lol. Still, I think maybe Ukraine will win again. It’s a bookmaker favorite, although im keeping my 🤞 for Gåte
It`s pronounced like Go-te. Not "tea" or "tee". Te.
Gåte is not pronounced like goat at all, the first "gå" is like the "go" in gone. The "te" is more like "te" in the word ten. What I can recommed is google translate and clicking the sound icon. Then you'll get it, no guesswork required.
The lyric is horrible and the screaming! Norway Gåte Ulveham ,Many people are not aware of what she actually sings, which in my opinion is a cruel text from the old days. And i am from Norway ! The text copied from newspaper today: She summarizes "Ulveham", based on an old medieval ballad, as the story of an evil stepmother who casts a curse on her stepdaughter - who turns into a wolf running in the forest forever. She only loses her wolf's hide if she drinks her own brother's blood. "There will be a kind of happy - but cruel - ending when she meets the stepmother on horseback in the forest, throws herself at her, rips out her heart and drinks the blood. Because the stepmother is pregnant with her brother - thereby the curse is lifted.
No one really speak this way.. I would guess it is a mix. between old norse and icelandic with a bit of Norwegian. Maybe some Swedish and danish as well. Even as a norwegian that is not cluless.. I am still mystified on how she sing, and her dialect.
It’s Nynorsk I believe. I think that’s what gåte said it was. But nynorsk with some dialect in the pronunciation when she sings.
@@marita2g Ny norsk is Old Norse Kinda.. I hate Ivar AAsen for it to this day. But it is sang more differently
It’s dialectal nynorsk. Some of her world choices may have been more common 100 years ago, but still far far from old Norse. If you want to hear old Norse, try listening to Icelandic. It practically still sounds identical to the way old Norse was spoken 1000 years ago.
Me being half northNorwegian and half northWestern I have no trouble understanding The Words. But you have to like Nynorsk(which directly transelated is NewNorwegian, but obviously The original Norwgian. Which asceneed from Old Norse/now close to Icelandic). Norway has a lot of dialects from nynorsk and they Are quite different and unique. Some really hard to understand. Depending on outside language interferal or not(We have loads of fjords and valleys that can be hard to reach, If you catch My drift😉. Anyhow; We have a spoken language Bokmål which is heavily influnceded by Danish. The way she sings is based on several Norwegian old techniuqes.
what? It's just nynorsk. Where on earth did you get Swedish and Danish from?
