Black Rock Park | LCRA Texas Hill Country RV Camping
Black Rock Park | LCRA Texas Hill Country RV Campground
This week we share our visit to Black Rock Park near Lake Buchanan, Texas.
Built in 1939, Black Rock Park is owned and operated by the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA). It was one of the first recreational parks built by the LCRA after the building of the historic Buchanan Dam and Lake Buchanan.
Lake Buchanan is the first of 6 Highland Lakes in the Central Texas Hill Country. The Highland Lakes follow the Colorado River as it meanders through Central Texas. They provide flood control, drinking water, hydroelectric power and recreation to the local communities and visitors.
In this video, we share a bit of the history of the Buchanan Dam, Lake Buchanan, the LCRA and Black Rock Park.
We also share the RV camping experience at Black Rock Park, park amenities and places that we visited in the area. For more on our experience at this park, links to places we mention in this video, tips for making the most of your visit and pictures from our stay, visit our website: rvamericayall.com/rv-resorts/... .
We stayed at Black Rock Park to visit Llano TX and attend the unique Llano River Chuckwagon Cookoff. If you missed our video about the Llano River Chuckwagon Cookoff, you can watch it on our RV Texas Y'all website: rvtexasyall.com/region-texas-... or here on KZhead: • Llano Chuck Wagon Cook... .
Join us again next week as we visit one of our favorite Texas small towns: Llano, Texas!
🤠 Thanks For Watching!
We are Tom and Stacie Langland, known for 10 years as RV Texas Y'all.
We are Native Texans and Full-Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and America one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we're bringing you along for the fun.
In 2018, we sold our house, our business and gave away just about everything we own to hit the road and see America. Our home is a 33' motorhome named Freedom. We installed an extreme solar and lithium battery setup so now we can camp just about anywhere with our dog (Star) and our cat (Astro).
Every day is a new adventure, so join us as we RV America Y'all.
Safe Travels and Happy Camping!

What a beautiful park! And to have it mostly to yourself, nice!
It was unbelievable!
So happy to see another Texas park review! We will definitely have to try Alfredo’s. Thank you for the detail about the dam/lake! ❤❤
It was really Dam cool! 😂
What neat park, real nice video too. 🚗🇺🇸
Thanks 😊
Another great video! Safe travels & happy camping to you!
Thanks 😊
Great info on the park looks like a nice place!
It is, thanks! 😊
We visited the Texas Hill Country a few years ago (pre RV) and spent time near Bandera. Loved the area and looking forward to getting back and doing more exploring. Thanks for sharing Black Rock.
You’re welcome, we love that Area of Texas!
Fabulous video! Always enjoy your adventures and love your beautiful home. Love Texas, need to get to that park soon, thanks for sharing. Safe travels!
Thanks! 😊
Prime spot for the eclipse, hopefully you already have reservations! There and everywhere else is booked solid . Nice campground. We will be not far from there in couple of weeks.
It definitely is positioned well!
It’s been a while since we’ve been there. Looks like they have done some improvements around the park. We too find those small hole-in-wall places tend to be the hidden gems of eateries.
Love the little mom & pop places! 😃
You pronounce Lake Buchanan the same way I do. It's been awhile since we've been out to that area and Black Rock Park has been on our radar. Thanks for the review.
You’re welcome 😉
Enjoyed the Black Rock Park and Dam video. The food looked good too. Thanks.
Thanks Norman! Glad you enjoyed it. 😁
Beautifully Edited Hard video to make It was a great concept No problems Don’t stop making videos Underrated channel
Thank you Will! We appreciate it.
@@rvamericayall ⚾️ No problem!!!
How fun, you stayed at our lake, we live right across the lake from Black Rock. Wish I would have known, I would have bought you dinner. We have a number of great restaurants in Kingsland. Glad you had fun in our beautiful hill country. Love your videos and the way you teach us about the places you visit.
Thanks for the kind remarks and darn, dinner would have been fun! 🤩
@@rvamericayall if you are ever back here, my wife Susie and I would love to meet you guys. Hoping to run into you somewhere, but it will be a year or two before we start doing a lot of traveling. I have a company that builds control panels. Can give you a tour if you are back in the area. Working on getting retired, so we can travel....a lot!😀
Oh, just realized, me offering to take you on a tour of my business might scare you off because you might think I'm just looking for publicity. Not the case at all, we have so much business I don't need any publicity. You don't even have to bring your cameras. Seriously, we just think you guys are very cool and down to earth, and would be fun to hang with. Not every one gets to see control panels get built and I know you like to see new things. So, hope I didn't scare you off!
You didn’t scare us off, I just saw your 2 follow up comments! If we get back in the Area, if you still have the business we would love a tour! Thanks!!!
@@rvamericayall that's great, thank you for the reply. Hope you make it back here some day! 👍
We can't wait to visit the hill country in a couple weeks. Thanks for the recommendation to visit Black Rock. Looks like fun and local eats look great.
Enjoy Mark! We ❤️ the Hill Country.
We scouted that park in our TOAD car while spending a few nights in Llanno, in September a couple of years ago, and it looked just as empty when we were there. One thing we were surprised by in Llano is they had a surprisingly good Italian restaurant in one of the downtown buildings.
We will have to check that out next time! 😊
I am so glad y’all shared this today. We have been considering booking some time there. Thank you for the information!
You’re welcome ☺️
safe travels
Same to you!
Great video! I had no idea that this park existed. I have camped at Lake Buchanan before, but I guess I missed this park somehow. Thanks for all the great information. I bet it will be full the weekend of the eclipse.
I bet it will be packed! 😊
We live about 90 minutes from this park. We have camped all over the area but missed Black Rock. Thank you so much for sharing activities in the area. We love the Dam Grill.
It is pretty dam good! 😂
Very nice looking park, thanks for showing us ❤

Very nice park! I'm surprised it wasn't crowded.
Totally crazy it wasn’t!
I love camping in that area. My in laws have a place in LLano Tx…. This will be on my bucket list for a trip!
It’s a fun place!

Anytime yall ...Anytime
very nice park. LCRA has some nice parks. We have stayed at Mule shoe bend and Colleto creek. Mule shoe Bend is tent only. Have a wonderful day!!!😊
We agree. We’ve also been to South Shore, Matagorda & Oak Thicket. We’ve also stayed at Texana (Lavaca Navidad RA) & Wolf Creek (Trinity RA). We enjoy the river authority parks.
It’s been years since I’ve been to Lake Buchanan. I need to get back up there and go do the tour to see the Eagles.
Didn’t know about an Eagles tour? Next time!
Not to far from us. We need to go. Thx for sharing
Have fun!
I was giving some friends from South Dakota a tour of Galveston this week. I thought of y'all and told them about how we met as we were driving past Jamaica Beach RV Resort. Happy trails, my friends.

Your comment about stopping to get cash before going to Alfredo's brings up a newbie question. How much cash should you carry when full/most time RVing? We had planned on keeping a "cash stash" in the RV in case we ran into an emergency and couldn't use a credit/debit card or went to a place that was cash only. Do others keep a cash stash and if so approximately how much?
Yes, we now usually keep a little cash on us now and most of our FT friends do as well!
Wow, cash only! I am seeing so many places charging 3-1/2 percent if you use credit car, then they say they will not take $50 or $100 bills! So if we travel with $20 bills or less, or if I count out 99 dollar's in penny's, will they call the police on me? Just saying that I thought all of our US Currency was acceptable to everyone in at least the USA! Can yo imagine going on a winter vacation for a month and finding out your USA CASH $50 or $100 bills are not accepted! The treasury Dept needs to step into this, because I am not paying 3.5% of my withdraw at a ATM for a Fee to get cash to my own money in travel!
Yep, it’s really crazy but some places charge a cc fee now! 😞
What year is your 3343? and how many miles do you have on it so far?
2021 with approximately 22K
That's a pretty big fishing pond!
😂
