we need a video where the clones are better than thr orginal!
true
Just thinking about this
That sounds like a wonderful idea.
Impossible
That's going to be a short one
I think the biggest crime in this video was Falcon's pronunciation of Cabela's 😂
That’s what I was thinking. Like, why did he say it like that?
Not to mention how he pronounced Anubis.
Yes...lol. I made my own comment before seeing this...I also showed him how to pronounced it
ka-bah-lass
Came here to say this. I was like "yeeeeesh".
So not only did Zeus of Child steal Kratos's model, they also stole the Geonosis Arena from a star wars game. Fantastic.
And not even a good version, that looks like 'We have Geonosis Battle Arena at home'
@@ericlamb4501Yeah, the arena came from the 2003 Star Wars Clone Wars game.
I cried laughing over Zeus of Child. The delivery really got me. Thanks Falcon. Big love to you and the Gameranx crew always!
🤝
Killed me that one 😂
Seeing the horribly crafted maps/cities in these clones really makes you appreciate the amount of effort and hard work put into creating worlds that look real and feel believable
Yeah, this just reinforces my respect for people that put their blood, sweat and tears into making top notch stuff like Sony exclusives
Even most “mediocre” triple A games are an achievement in that sense
Actually Resident Evil is a clone of the first Alone in the Dark. The Alone in the dark franchise is what greatly inspired the Resident Evil series, most notably on the camera angles and type of gameplay.
Yup. I was gonna say this!
Alone in the Dark was the first 3D Survival Horror game.
And Silent Hill was Konami's answer to Capcom's Resident Evil.
I was about to say that. I was pretty sure alone in the dark came first
I’m so glad someone said something 😂 couldn’t of put it better myself! Alone in the Dark 1992 game strongly influenced the production of Capcom's Resident Evil.
My son said he preferred Ninjabread Man to Ape Escape 1 when I was trying to get him into games years ago. Haven’t talked to him since but I hope he’s doing good.
🤣🤣🤣
🤣
did you get the milk yet
In the bin
You should beat his sexy ass!!
The first Alone the Dark is from 1992, while the first Resident Evil is from 1996, furthermore, the first Alone the Dark was inspired by the Howard Phillips Lovecraft stories and the Cthulhu cycle
What surprises me the most is just how good some of these games could be, I mean if you have the tech an ability to do something like this why not just create something unique.
yeah these clones still have better graphics and animations then most mobile games
Agree
Easier said than done
Copy-pasting downloadable assets into a cookie-cutter arena is actually really easy. It takes a ton of effort to make something that looks and sounds unique.
I love that rare occasion that a clone is better than the original game, like others said
Welp, you won't find any here!!!
What clones are better than the original
@@pp3k3jamailsilent hill is originally a clone of re which is also a clone of alone in the dark but silent hill being a clone of re was actually scarier.
@@pp3k3jamail League of Legends is a Dota clone. "Better" is debatable, but given that League of Legends found a lot more success, I'm pretty sure it's considered to be better by many more than vice versa. Fortnite is a PUBG clone. Similar to League of Legends, "better" is debatable, but more success will usually find more people calling it better.
I freaking love when Falcon butchers a word. The best part of the video was his pronunciation of Cabelas
Thank you! I feel like that's how a computer told him to pronounce it.
It was such a funny combination of hearing Falcon's confusion and the name Zeus of Child. 😂😂😂
Yeah, I'll have to guess that the native language of the people who made that ripoff used postpositions instead of prepositions, like Japanese, Korean, or Turkish. Otherwise, it makes no sense.
Shouldn't it be Child of Zeus?
@@zachtwilightwindwaker596 probably. I was laughing too hard to give it some real thought.
In most Indian languages, it is written like this: Zeus inte mon / Zeus ka betaa (Malayalam / Hindi for reference).
“Ninja Bread Man”??? “God Of Warning”!!! …. I’m dead. 😂
You should do a list ranking the best clones of a certain game. Like the best doom clones, the best Mario kart clones, the best gta clones and so on
I love these Falcon narrated videos. A true hero
Number 2 was definitely made in India. I saw a HDFC bank logo which is an actual bank in India.
The way you pronounced “Cabelas” hurt my brain more than most of these games… what?! Was it just a copyright thing?
Anubis😅
What the fuck is even cabelas? How the fuck do you even say that?
These games are a significant factor in why even excellent indie games struggle to gain recognition on the Steam store without a marketing budget of at least $10,000. It's puzzling how someone can be passionate enough to learn coding and game development, but not equally passionate about the art form itself. How can they undermine their own product and the entire field to such an extent? I used to think that only major publishers cared solely about money in this industry. I have been working in the games industry for more than a decade as a developer, having worked in multiple companies. Every time I had a conversation with someone in the PR and marketing department, I felt very disheartened. I eventually quit and opened my own small indie company. Two years later, I released my first game, and you've probably guessed what happened next...
I feel you there, but in the end it's because unity is far too easy to learn, to the point where even my 11 year old can produce simplistic games. Not much need to learn much with all the tutorials and tools you can get for free.
@@ryansanschagrin8782 Fair point! I never worked with Unity but I am familiar with its software architecture and how heavily relies on composition pattern! I eventually moved to Unreal and stopped making games without engine. I guess there is no hope to fix this situation but accepting personal responsibility and adopting some principles as developers! If Steam doesn't care about the quality and as long as you pay them $100 you can put anything on their platform, It's up to us as developers and gamers to fix the culture! Anyway, I feel like an old man yelling at the clouds right now :) Thanks for your feedback!
Games are meant for mindless consumer redditors who pre order everything after a 5 second cutscene… theirs so many devs and writers that just want their paycheck and maybe add a political self insert or such
@@ChickenJoe-tq6xdSpecific or Casual games* are meant for those redditors. Actual gamers are far less mindless in consumption
I have never heard Cabelas pronounced like that. I believe its a long "a" like, Kuh-bell-uhs Ca--bel--as
Falcon's videos are always my favourite. Can feel the frustration he expresses in his voice.
Sometimes I like to deep dive into steam and mobile stores specifically to find just the absolute worst shameless clones I can find, some end up being real gems (in the "so bad it's good" sense) or on rare occasions the clone ends up being as good if not better than the original game
What clones are better than original
I was hoping to see "Unearthed: The Trail of Ibn Battuta" in here. It's in the name, I don't even have to say what it's trying to copy. Good list though! You guys could probably make a part 2 with comments suggestions.
Again, this channel is amazing on how they come up with topics!! I never knew that there were that many "games" and companies who are like this!! Dunno if I laugh or cry xD
I feel bad for whoever had to capture footage of these
It's nice to hear a upbeat Falcon nowadays. 😀👌🏾 Keep up the great work and remember to stay always positive Falcon. 🦅
Thanks! Will do!
Seeing Falcon be this done with everything on this list while trying SO SO SO hard to remain PG 13 is hilarious
The “you know that ole chestnut” line really got me. GJ, guys. 😂
Ive never even finished a Souls like game but im so glad i got to watch from the very first 1 to what it's become. So cool
Hearing Falcon said Genshin impact is one of the most popular games on planet warms my heart
Also one of the most hated games on the planet, but seeing as this is a channel that doesn't promote toxicity it makes sense why he wouldn't mention that.
Considering the number of kart racing games, I'm surprised that more conglomerates haven't collaborated on a crossover racer (ie WB, Viacom & Disney; Nintendo & Sega among many others). Seeing how characters from different studios/franchises would interact with each other is always fascinating, particularly if their series have similar premises (ie Ruby Gloom and Creepie). Still, if Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Blinky, Mametchi (from Tamagotchi) and Don-Chan (from Taiko no Tatsujin) can appear in Mario Kart GP, perhaps we'll see - Transformers/Diaclone and GoBots/Machine Robo in a Super Robot Wars title (as DLC?) - More classic characters (ie Sonic, Last Bronx, Toy Fighter?) and guests (ie Pepsiman, Honey the Cat) in Fighters Gigamix - Classic and modern cartoon/anime characters from around the world in a platform fighter (ala Jump Ultimate Stars), Turn Based Strategy/'Tactics' title (ala Disgaea or Project X Zone) or jRPG Only time (and/or fan appreciation) will tell. ^_^
when Falcon is speechless, it's the funniest thing ever 😂😂
From my understanding of Ninjabread man’s history it’s the perfect game for this list, and is the first of those asset flip platformers. Basically the company Data Design Interactive were making a prototype for a 3D Zool game, and when it was shown it wasn’t approved, so DDI just used the demo to make a bunch of asset flips. You can tell because of the hearts that fly from enemies, and there was a cutscene leaked from the demo that showed the first level of Ninjabread Man.
Scott the Woz has talked about Data Design a number of times
@@theisaacpigg27_32 Or Rerez
Your work here is awesome Falcon. Great content all around! 👍
Glad you enjoy it!
The Cabelas game was an interactive sales catalog. The plot is what shoppers fear/crave.
A good clone game I played was called "Pariah", back on the original xbox. It was a Halo clone, but it was really fun. Especially with the weapon upgrades.
Oh, I'm so glad you cut to the BoJack scene for the Xerox of a Xerox, because otherwise I was going to have to warn you how litigious Xerox can be!
Seeing any bad Mario Kart clone that can't even get driving right makes you appreciate anything that's above that. It has to be tough to program a physics engine that considers forward acceleration and speed while turning.
Hmm, not really, but it is hard to make it not feel janky in comparison to real life. You either gotta include every possible variable which bogs down the engine with calculations, or create a formula the system can use as a workaround to adjust it till it feels 'good enough' to be playable. Gotta remember that in the end it is just looking at a bunch of 1s and 0s.
that god of war clone got me laughing so hard 😂
4:47 i remember seeing this game a long time ago. i always loved how they just made a pistol model really big.
This has been the funniest video you guys have ever made ! I was laughing most of the time
This list certainly made me really appreciate just how good Smash Bros is..... how the hell did they balance that many different characters so well?!
And Kingdom Hearts blending in Disney's variety + Final Fantasy !
The bonus, I thought was a rip of Cabela's hunting franchise because Falcon mispronunciation the word, and therefore confused me how it got big voice actors. It is pronounced Caw-Bell-Aw.
I’m glad you made this! Keep doing what you doing! ❤ get these jokers out of here
Dude, I wasn't expecting to be reminded of Cabela's survival. It was my 13th birthday and my dad got me that for the wii thinking it would be like the hunting games he played. Can't believe after 12 years i hear that name again.
I laughed so hard about Zeus of Child 😂
Gears of War actually took a lot from Killswitch.
I know im a little late on watching this video on sooooo many bad knockoff games but the thing that got me was both war gods zeus of child and the way Falcon pronounced cabelas, im in literal tears after this list thank you for that 😆
The one about the ring, gameplay wise, it might be trash, story wise, maybe weird, but the story of the game sounds like it was basing off the novels, since in the novels there is no supernatural deaths exactly. if I remember how you died in the novels, it was if you watched the tape, over seven days you would develop an old strain of smallpox in the lungs and eventually die. Also in one of novels cyberspace is actually involved. (Don't know about the weird apes and other things)
Begun the clone war has.
13:02 My favorite part is the "Extreme Violence" warning for the Zeus of Child game.
Watching these I feel like I'm playing the original games but I'm having a bad acid trip 😂😂😂
This episode is so funny😂 we need more of this
Bro Blue Stinger 🤯 you just unlocked one of my childhood memories, that game was a gem
The way you said Cabela's at the end through me for such a loop I actually had to rewind it. Cuh bell uhs Say the uh, in both the front and back of the word like you would "uh I don't know" I know it doesn't matter but man it had me confused for a moment because I had never heard of this game before lol but yeah Cabela's big game hunter series was a one time purchase that I will always regret.
Now for 10 video game clones > the original.
the hit sounds at 10:11 got me chuckling, the game War Gods Zeus of Child had me absolutely dying.
Blue Stinger!!!! Memory unlocked. 😱 I remember Blue Stinger was so weird. So creepy (for it’s time) and so unique, I had to purchase it. It was Dino/ necromorphs and I actually thought that’s where they got the necromorphs design from. Look up Blue Stinger. Oh the good ol days. 🤩🥰🤩
I enjoy watching these videos about games that I’ve never heard of and will never play.
One karting game that was a blatant clone of the original Super Mario Kart was 1994's Wacky Wheels for PC. It was published by Apogee and contained the first Dopefish easter egg, but the gameplay and presentation was a beat-for-beat riff on the 1992 OG Mario Kart. That said, for those of us who didn't own consoles back in the mid 90s, a PC clone of a Nintendo game was very welcome and I played it quite a bit.
Came back to this. Forgot I had watched it, but I want that Renzo Racer and Gene Rain. Right up my alley.
Number 9 - I loved CTR back in the days. It used the same power up visual/s from another racing game called RollCage: Stage 2
To clarify I dont think Cabela's are huge in NYC, for those who don't know it's like a bass pro shop, the game I imagine is just a big advertisement of the things they sell. On par of what u would expect if there was "Walmart the game"
Zues of child did zues come from child? Omg that was golden!!! 😂😂😂😂. How many times did you record that line without laughing?😂😂😂 so Good!!!😂😂😂😂
Love the video's falcon your a legend 🤘
You ask mum for the last of us for Christmas. Mum sees the last hope for cheaper and buys it. All your friends laugh at you
The way falcon said cabelas cracks me up it's an actual massive sporting goods store and they used to make hunting and fishing games so what ever happened with that disaster I have no idea
Was waiting for The Last Hope to be mentioned, first game to be mentioned lol That should be called The Last Dead because my 30 minute playthrough consisted of me mainly dying and nothing else 😅
OMG Blue Stinger!!! I've been trying to remember what the name of this game was for over 10 years! I actually loved it as a kid lol.
you trying to say zeus of child was just making laugh so hard. keep the great videos gameranx.
Like how genuine falcon is with his videos
Random Trivia: Ninja Bread Man was actually going to be a new Zool game from the SNES era, but the owners of the IP thought the game was so bad that they took back the license right before the game was completed. The devs decided to reskin it and sell it as Ninja Bread Man, and then just continued to try and milk the work with the other clones. So it is a reskin that spawned more clones.
For anyone who wants a little more on Ninja Bread Man, I highly recommend Rerez’ Just Bad Games series. They did one on it and it’s insane haha.
Hi Gameranx hope you guys have a wonderful relaxing day! Can’t wait for Gamescom tomorrow
Zeus of child; made my week complete. Never knew I wanted this so bad until I heard of it; my lungs are begging me to stop laughing.
Fun fact: Rock n roll Adventures was literally misspelt on the box art (don't know about other countries but certainly in the UK), so on the side bit or join (can't remember what it's called) it says "Rock N Roll Advnetures"
ninja bread man formed part of my childhood though. game was literally 🔥 everytime i got back home from school
I haven't laughed as hard on an episode before. "The last hope" had me in tears 😂. Oh man! That ring game!! Hilarious!!! "War Gods Zeus of child" "God of warning" I can't stop laughing bro 😂
Great video as always
As a kid who was never allowed to get an xbox and had to stick to his mother's iPad or the family PC, these kinds of games were my childhood, and they still hold a special place in my heart. I honestly thought that they were amazing games. However, I don't think I'll ever be able to replicate the feeling of playing call of duty for the first time over my friend's house and realizing, "holy shit, this is what a game should be".
What platform are you playing on now?
Pretty sure the God of War clone is also in the Geonosis colosseum (Petranaki arena) from Star Wars Attack of the Clones...
I think it might've came from the 2003 Clone Wars Video Game (the vehicular combat one)
Ahhh man, when you mentioned Dreamcast that made me think about nightmare creatures!!!! We need that kind of stuff again!
Wasn’t expecting a Bojack reference, but thanks for the yearly reminder yo rewatch it
Weird question: what is the song playing in the background during Gene Rain?
I remember seeing a Pokemon Vs. Digimon fighting game on the Google play store (illegal of course) and it was gone so fast. Had 10k downloads before it was gone.
OMG, I remember a friend had Anubis II for the Wii, and at the moment it was kind of a big deal, because im from Mexico, and it wasnt released here, so his dad bought it for him in the USA. And then we played it like for 3 days and forgot about it. I didnt even remember that was a thing
I remember playing Cabela’s survival on the wii, when it first came out. And it was actually pretty good. It was a game that was only released in Cabela’s, which is a Canadian, hunting store, think of it as the U.S. version of the bass pro shop, but for caribou, bears, deer, guns, ammo, hunting apparel, and more. Cabela’s survival on the wii, came with a fake gun you could hook up to the wii, and use it. The game was decent, definitely not wowing anyone, but was worth the $40 at the time of release.
Cabela's is an American company. Also, it's owned by Bass Pro so they're pretty much the same exact thing.
The old falcon voice is back, welcome back my good sir falcon
Ninjabread Man had quite an interesting development story behind it. It first started life as a 3D platformer sequel to the old Zool games, but the IP holder pulled the rights once they saw how bad the development was going. So they decided to release what they had with just a character design swap. You would think the story would end there but no. Along with the Ninjabread Man derivatives, Data Design went on to release so much shovelware on to the Wii that they became largest 3rd party game developer (in title releases) for the Wii.
The copies are so funny, laughed all through the video, like 'there's the bottom of the barrel, the is digging below the bottom of the barrel and there is ***🤣
11:55 I died at “War Gods Zeus of Child”😆🤣
Huh i recall you guys making this same list like 7 years ago with some newer editions, yes i have been watching since 2016 and on repeat might i add.
I remember when the likes of Gameloft made a clone of every big franchise for mobile gaming. There was the Gangstar series that was just GTA, 9MM (Max Payne), Shadow Guardian (Uncharted), Shadowgun (Gears of War), the Modern Combat series and Godfire, which was pretty much God of War. All of these games are some of the most shameless ripoffs I’ve ever seen. But I still played the hell out of them, and most were pretty fun.
To quote JSS on The Last Hope: "It isn't a forgery. It's a forgery *of a* forgery." It literally wasn't worth the time to take it down via copyright. Nintendo should've taken it down for the low quality of the game, tbh...
Oh I’ve played that cabelas one. My when we were kids my neighbor had that on his wii and I never knew what the game was
In Zeus of Child, Kratos doesn't scream "BUOY" or "ZEUS". He probably just says "child" as a way of "God of Warning" his son about the dangers of war. Proof that he has mastared fatherhood.
When you doing Before You Buy for Bomb Rush Cyberfunk? Would love to see your review about it.
War gods Zeus of child actually looks like a “so bad it’s good” kind of game
The phone destroyer sound is also from the fractured but whole. It's one of call girl's abilites
Falcon you should do this same list but for games that were good clones of video games like nova being a good clone of halo and shadowgun being a good clone of gears of war also oceanhorn being a good clone of legend of zelda
12:18 I haven't played this game (obviously), but it looks SO much like a gameplay clip from the last saints row it's insane 😂
