  • Do you think Chris isn't being critical enough of Donald Trump?

    • I think Chris is saying the way it is! Don't always agree with some of his comments, but for the most time, when I step back and re-watch rethinking I can hear exactly where he is coming from. Not on his end sometimes I don't comprehend all !

    • I don’t know that your not being critical enough on Trump or just that [to longtime listeners, like me] your sense of urgency about the danger Trump potentially poses to the country seems to have somehow greatly diminished since you exited CNN. Also while I understand the “both parties are screwing us” argument, there is a CLEAR distinction between one party that’s still steeped in a fact-based reality and one that isn’t as Medhi pointed out during his appearance on the show. Chris, I’m a 24 year old black young adult from Brooklyn, NY. (I jokingly call yourself and Jon Stewart my white tv dads (lol) because you guys speak TRUTH and have tons of wisdom. Pls, don’t lose the plot on me now. -Much Respect.

    • I haven’t heard enough but what I have heard, only a small sampling, I would lean no. I say this because of one comment he made on why trump might win but I believe key considerations were not made. Then again this is not my show and I think he is better at reporting than I would ever be. I generally believe Quomo is fair and unbiased. He comes across as a good person and although his views and opinions may be strong at time; that passion may partly be a reflection of the polarized times we live in, something that is hard to not notice. Keep up the good work Quomo and staff and thank you. You’re all doing important work and hey, we won’t always agree but that’s ok. As long as we respect one another.

  • Chris, you show yourself as being woefully out of touch with reality which is very surprising given your history and career. Let me begin by stating that I was a big fan of yours for many years until you started this show, where in an attempt to play both sides as some sort of 'neutral' party, you gave yourself away by consistently scrutinizing and criticizing the left more-so than you do the right in terms of both quantity and more importantly, quality of discussion and questions. Mehdi recently called out Piers Morgan for this exact same characteristic, and it's refreshing to see someone who has been entrenched in journalism for so many years, actually represent the true meaning of what it means to be a journalist, political commentator, and now host. But - let's start with some very basic observations: 1. Mehdi is much needed because the left has severely and for many years lacked a strong left representative that actually goes on the offensive against the right. CNN and others for years have been more right-apologists which is not what the left needs. Part of the reason the Left hasn't been dominating the polls they way they should is because they're often too busy playing defense and asking very light-handed questions of the right and only leveraging soft criticisms of the right. Mehdi is actually breaking that mold. 2. You speak of being helpful to getting to a better place - but that is exactly what the left has been trying to do for years, look at the number of bills they have acquiesced to Repubs in attempts to be bipartisan, and now look at the number of them the Repubs consistently reject - even when the bill contains the very same asks the Repubs have demanded. - The goal here is to remind you and viewers that there is no "center" anymore and when folks like you are calling for a center or calling for "bringing the country to a better place" through bipartisanship when one side is literally calling for a dictatorship and attempting to overthrow the government, shows how out of touch with reality you really are. - Furthermore, you have consistently refused to critique the events of Jan 6th, even disagreeing with calling it an insurrection and going out of your way to defend the rioters and insurrectionists of that day. 3. Again, Dems aren't dominating the polls like they should be because they're not aggressive enough. You can critique the left and the "condescension" they lever against the right, but in the same breath you cannot ignore that condescension as actually being factual given the bills, policies, and statements coming from the right that reflect those statements. 4. Most Dems are acutely aware that Biden is not our best choice, but the decision to have him run - as you know - is not made by the voters; it's made by the party officials. 5. You say that you don't believe Trump wants to overthrow democracy - odd. Trump has literally (and repeatedly) stated that he wants to be a dictator. Why don't you mention that? And how do you interpret a literal statement as not wanting to overthrow democracy? Include the events of Jan 6th in there as well. 6. For guns - you also talked your away any meaningful answer. You alluded to "it's a mental health thing", without actually saying it's a mental health thing and discussing actual, tangible means of enforcing yellow/red flag laws and the practicality of those laws actually working because that would involve greater government regulation and intervention which we all know the right doesn't want. We have over 400M guns in this country, so why do we need more? And what's stopping someone from simply going to a gun show and purchasing a rifle where no background check is needed and in the few states they are required, there is little to no enforcement of those laws? Lastly, what's happening here is that you are acting condescendingly to viewers on the left who have followed you since your CNN days. Which will attract more right-wing folks to your channel and we all see the slow metamorphosis in play in real-time. If you spent more time reading, and contrasting the actual language reps on the left and right use, the language and substance of their bills and policies and stated beliefs, I could believe you to be a more central and fair commentator, but you simply don't want to do that and worse you end up looking like a right-apologist which offends the left because we see the right calling for totalitarianism and alignment with Russia. There is no center and no point to pretending there is.

  • 1:18 yes! This is what I have been trying to articulate for years now! Enormous egos on both sides combined with social media is making things worse. I’m on the left but I show respect for my friends and colleagues on the right. I was really afraid that in 2020, Trump would be reelected specifically because so many of us on the left couldn’t resist indulging in mocking and insulting those on the right all through 2020. I’m afraid Trump is very likely to win again this term because we resist respectful dialogue and because we continue to alienate many independents and pretty much everyone on the right.

  • I'm in the same boat with the Parent Plus student loans. A solution that both parties might agree on is to take away the interest on all student debt loans. Doesn't mean you not paying them back, just the money you took out. It was our money to borrow. The government doesn't have to act like a loan shark. This way more people can pay it back quicker. No forgiveness, just easier pay back.

    • That seems reasonable. The counter-argument is that Congress will bail out banks, who collapsed due to their own misbehavior, in a heartbeat. And they are readily willing to spend hundreds of billions to fund foreign wars. Why not bail out the people who will contribute to the future of the country?

  • If you agree student loans shohld not be forgiven i understand but i would like the hypocrisy to stop in this country. Those who go to college pay taxes therefore that "bail out" is from money they have put into the system already. But more importantly i would like that same energy to be kept up when we are bailing ANY other company or business as well. Seems to be a double standard when it comes to businesses and individuals in the US which is ridiculous.

Wake up from the Truman show. Folks on both sides are human beings. It would really help to understand that your point of view doesn’t make you morally superior and better than other people. Folks on the extreme left that just name call folks on the right are just disappointing to me. I don’t recall it being nearly as bad 20+ years ago. Living in bubbles and echo chambers are a huge part of the problem.

    • Yeah, Chris's response was super defensive. Chris has usually been pretty damn introspective and self-aware. But not here. Without countering anything that Medhi said, he just says "you're condescending and out of touch." I don't know if he felt bested by Medhi but he Medhi is not the issue. It's simply that Trump trying to seize power through inciting a mob, threatening election officials, fraudulent electors, and allowing his mob to want to hang his VP is reprehensible and indefensible. NO amount of whataboutisms or downplaying make that remotely acceptable. So for Chris, who def understands this, to say "well trump isn't that bad and it's not the end of democracy" WHILE not giving ANY rationale is WHY he got so much criticism. Carrying water for the most blatantly corrupt president in history deserves at least SOME explanation or yeah, people are going to call u fence sitter. I really hope that PBD money doesn't compel him to appease the MAGA base. Because I saw glimmers of that when he was on his podcast. Chris is 1000x more intelligent and moral than that clown.

Now that you have your own platform I really see or can I say I feel that you are entirely different in your perspective. as when you were on CNN I say that to say this, I never knew what party you were affiliated with when you were on CNN. I thought maybe you were an independent but now that you have your own platform, I hear you more clearly and I come to the conclusion that you are a Republican. I am a 70 year old Black Man and I have to listen to people that I feel could educate me to what might hurt me, or benefit me in the near future when it comes to political positions that a candidate may take on issues that I am concerned about. I have noticed by watching and listening to you lately that you swing more to the right of an agenda which has no substance and you make excuses for the Republican party and all I could say to that is where you always a closet Republican working on CNN and that’s why you never would tell the audience what your political party affiliation is or was?

    • @@balagan79985 thank you for your dialogue. I used to watch Chris when he was on CNN. I liked him then because I liked his platform. He was free to speak his mind and I like the way he put things in Contant. But as I see it now, he plays both sides of the fence, but he leans more to the Republican side. Like I said before, he would never tell his audience what party he was affiliated with that’s why we all thought that he was an independent, but now he acts more like a Republican. Truthfully, speaking ,by me, being a 70 year old black man I don’t really care if Donald Trump gets back in office or if Biden stays in office because neither one of them has done anything for me or if I may the black community that actually helped us in any shape or form in any manner. The only time we hear anything from a candidate that needs our vote they’ll show up in the black neighborhood or a black church and want to speak. That’s unacceptable but it’s been going on like that for years. They would say they would do this so they would do that, but once they get in office, they don’t keep their promises or obligations to the black Community. I say this to say that I really don’t care who gets the office because they can’t hurt us because we’ve been through it all and we accept nothing because we know we won’t get it. I remember when Donald Trump said this Black people “Vote for me what do you have to lose” Which meant what has the Democratic Party done for you all these years? Absolutely nothing so now you understand why I really don’t care which party gets in office. I used to be a Democrat but now I am an independent. If I want to vote or if I don’t want to vote it doesn’t really matter to me which party gets in office. Thanks for your time.

I was always proud of being in a country where one could freely speak and hold one's own opinion and still agree on the American dream and still respect one another's right to these freedoms. As long as someone's life is not harming another's, then mind your business. We've lost that. We need to get back to that place. Everyone is now trying to control everyone else and it's counterproductive and goes against everything it means to be an American. Anyway, keep up those open-minded conversations. Leading by example, Chris.

  • You thoughts on why it's fair and balanced that borrowers have to pay back accumulated interest rates on student loans that were paused during the pandemic, doubling their payments. Yet, businesses didn't have to pay back the loans they received during that time. Also, Trump and shady businessmen of the like, go bankrupt multiple times with no pay back to the government. Whole think doesn't sound fair and balanced to me!

  • Dude you are sounding so much like Trump. "Nobody cares more about women than me, I guarantee you". The problem is, you haven’t made YOUR point of view be heard. You act like Bill Maher (who I love) but you haven’t said what YOU feel. You are trying so hard to convince people that just because you are from CNN you aren’t a democrat. It comes across disingenuous. I have always loved and supported you, for years. But, whatever you’re doing now, it’s sounding like Megyn Kelly. You sound reasonable at first and then go off the deep end. You’re a reasonable centrist like most of us. Act like it.

  • I think we have to connect and communicate with people on the other side. I think we have to be smart and educate ourselves on the various policies so that we understand what we are talking about when talking to the other side. I think that it really is up to us. What kind of a better life are we offering the other side. Why is your side better? Sell it. What is your side doing that is making America better? Sell it. Why are you inspired by what your side is doing? Sell it. Look at the policies. Learn about the policies and look at what is being built. Don't get pigeon holed in the social media algorithms. Reach out and sell what your side is doing. Educate the other side. Be respectful. Its our country. We are all in this together. Sometimes people are stuck. We are the ones who can make a difference. Maybe this really is in each of our hands.

  • In education, it must be regarded as a fundamental right. Student debt, when incurred for education, is an investment with significant benefits, as it greatly enhances the intellectual capabilities of the American workforce and fosters innovation. However, the burden of student debt often arises from flawed policies, making debt forgiveness potentially necessary. Without such measures, future students may opt out of pursuing higher education altogether. Relying on the importation of educated individuals will only exacerbate societal divisions and foster resentment among Americans, which is understandable. Therefore, debt forgiveness should be approached with careful consideration and accompanied by policy reforms that promote equitable access to education for all.

  • @19:35 you can tell that dude that unless you can cast some kind of spell that instantly and permanently takes modern Firearms out of the hands of criminals that are destined to use them to victimize innocent people, then don't talk about Universal modern firearm bans. Just imagine if such a ban were to take place and all law-abiding firearm owners including myself complied and turned our firearms in. We would be left with nobody but criminals having firearms and the rest of us would be powerless to protect ourselves from those people because you know they aren't going to turn their firearms in. As long as there is a Potential Threat of someone breaking into my home, and as long as the potential of there being an active shooter at a place of business I might be shopping at or working at, I am going to have modern firearms to protect myself at home and out in public. I want to live a full life if possible, and I'm not letting anyone take that from me, nobody is taking my firearms end of story.

  • Chris, why do you continue to have Arwa on and call her your friend when she is a total antisemite? Also are you aware her organization Inara was involved in the attack on October 7? She never has a compassionate word about the hostages or the slaughter on 10/7and I am surprised you don’t confront her instead of praising her. The military expert you had on tonight clearly contradicted her accusations about the IDf and said in his 25 years of experience he has never seen another country try so hard to prevent collateral damage. Israel is just trying to survive and get their people home with the least harm to innocent Palestinians. We all know Gaza would be flattened a long time ago if they did the same here. There were no protests about killing thousands of Iraqi civilians after 911. We dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan. Not a word about that. The difference? It was the US and there was no social media. Social media is more and more toxic. love ya but wish you would push back harder on Arwa especially on the antisemitism and anti Zionism of Cornell WestI I cringe listening to both of them
