Never forget: Countries have no friends. Countries have interests.
Indeed, In realism theory, countries are only based upon interests from one another. Todays enemy might become tomorrow’s friends, and vice versa.
Not really true, see Turkey and Azerbaijan and Hungary and Poland working together despite very clear difference in interests both politically and geopolitically... Poland is still protecting Hungary even though they are deeply pro-Russian while 99% of Poland's population would press a button to nuke Russia with a grin on their face, and same for Hungary protecting Poland in the EU with veto powers when Hungary is losing EU money because of it. Turkey is drilling down on Israel being immoral during the Gaza war while Azerbaijan is buying billions of military equipment from Israel at the same time. One can argue US-Israel is another example of a clearly one-sided interest
Britain and Portugal may disagree
@@captain_noodles: And their "friendship" was sooo great that during "the darkest hour" Portugal stayed neutral. ...the reality remains, Countries have no friends, only interests.

summary of this video 1. China has been a key ally for Myanmar's military regime since the 2021 coup. 2. The ongoing Civil War in Myanmar, especially near the China-Myanmar border, poses security challenges for China. 3. The Brotherhood Alliance, a coalition of ethnic armed organizations, launched Operation 1027 against the military regime. 4. China, concerned about security, urged a ceasefire in Northern Myanmar to protect its economic interests. 5. Myanmar is crucial for China's economic and trade links, with projects like the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor and pipelines for oil and gas imports. 6. Online scams and fraud originating from Myanmar, especially in Shan State, have been a significant concern for China. 7. China pressured Myanmar's military junta to address these scam operations, but with limited success. 8. The Brotherhood Alliance's commitment to tackling fraud operations may have garnered tacit approval from China. 9. China's support for Myanmar's military regime is conditional, with a focus on protecting its interests in stability, security, and economic cooperation. 10. If China perceives the military regime as no longer beneficial for its goals, it might reconsider its support, potentially impacting Myanmar's military.

It's not often that Myanmar gets attention. There is, of course, a lot more to it than can be explained in a short video clip. Huge, as yet unexploited, deposits of oil and gas, minerals and gems are to be had in Myanmar and many are vying for them including Western entities.
Yeh, sure, western bad regurgitation at its best 😂
You'll pardon us, but currently, we tend to focuse way way more on our own ressources than anything else. No problems if China wanna take our places though, it's not as if these minearl ressources were used in deindustrialised countries anyway.
Where are all the leftists who cannot shut up about how much they are concerned about victims in Ukraine and Israel? Where are they to talk about victims in Myanmar?
@@nanucit it is simultaniously bad and innocuous. Yes western entities will go into dangerous areas and extract 75% of the value, instead of say the 25% take in safe stable economies. This can seem unfair to the developing nation but gets better as reliability is established. It can be very mutually beneficial if not spent on corruption or say civil war. On the other hand, such deals occur between the largest nations and dictators all the time. Take the top of mind example of Equatorial Guinea. Incredibly wealthy in natural resources, brutal dictatorship that is supported almost entirely by western oil money. Natural resources taken at discount. The residents in this scenario are doubly screwed. On the other other hand: if the western companies werent there, the chinese or russians would be. I dont have time to go into more nuance or speak about solutions but OP point can be valid depending on historical context, which I do not know well enough for Myanmar.
What western entities?

Fun facts: 1. Factions of rebelling forces on north have been long existing for decades but some how of sudden those guerrilla forces come out from jungles winning the battles against the military junta one after another, using drones and other advanced weaponry in fighting. 2. One of the main reasons claimed by rebelling forces for launching the military operation 1027 is to strike criminals of telecom scams, mainly against Chinese citizens implicating billions of dollars and hundreds of being tortured and murdered, under the protection of the military junta. 3. The rebelling ethnics in north, they speak Chinese.

I am no Myanmar military historian, but I do know that for years the Tatmadaw was considered one of Southeast Asia's finest military organizations. However, since the coup in 2021, morale for soldiers have declined sharply. The Tatmadaw has struggled to fight the rebel groups and they're lost many townships.
The tatmadaw has been terrorising the ethnic group for many years which makes it the longest civil war, before the 2021 coup start. My people (KAREN) been fighting, still fighting for our freedom.
The military has terrorized the ethnic groups for decades, with implicit support of the Burmanese majority because of Burmanese chauvinism
Why is Xi in San Francisco shaking hands with the people likely behind this military rebellion? Why he doesn't come to the aid of the Myanmar military ?
They are freedom fighters please do not labled them rebels.
Military was a big big rebel for so long since 1960. They interchanged civil cloths n military uniforms back n forth tricking to showcase or manipulated the fake elections again n again on world’s stage. They were the rebels from the start, they betrayed shamelessly n lied to the democratic gov: again n again. Never wanted to transfer the power back to civilian gov:.Power hungry money hungry greedy rebel ruthless military. Civilian gov:s suffered under dishonest rebellious military for so long. People were fed up. So don’t call the freedom fighters “ rebels .“ The truth is other way around. 😡
Huge part of Northern Myanmar is basically China, people there speak Chinese(Yunnan Dialect), use Chinese Yuan, get their electricity exclusively from China, use China’s state owned cellular service, use Chinese textbooks, practice Chinese folk religion instead of Theravāda Buddhism, construct their government mimicking China’s, etc.
Yach, Wa state, or the First autonomous region of Shan state, is the most powerful ethnic army in Myanmar and was derived from the Myanmar communist party.
Whenever China calls anything a “dialect” what they mean is a separate language. French and Italian are often more closely related then Chinese dialects are to mandarin
It's basically a China satellite state under the hood. Won't be surprised if, in the future, China takes a page from Putin's playbook in Ukraine and launches a special military operation into Northern Myanmar. If that happened,, then subsequently annex it under the pretext that Northern Myanmar voted to join China in similar moves akin to Donetsk and Luhansk in Ukraine.
You seem to be talking about Wa State but Wa people mostly practice Theravada Buddhism and speak the Wa language (an Austroasiatic language) unless you're talking about another region of Myanmar.
@@user-jt3dw6vv4x But nearly all major leaders of Wa state and United Wa State Army are Ethnic Han and probably can't even speak Wa language fluently (Such as Bao Youxiang (president and military leader)and Xiao Mingliang (second leader and borned and studyed in Yunnan Province)). Chinese is compulsory cource in the school of Wa state in past 3 dacades and citizen of Wa must need preficient Chinese to get a decent job in state governmeny, ruling party, and military (even government documents mostly writting in Chinese and Mandarain is the working language in government and business circle)

The problem in Myanmar is also overflowing in neighboring areas in India. The has been influx of refugees into Mizoram and Manipur. This ia also causing ethnic violence in Manipur where the insurgents from Myanmar has been fueling the violence.
Sounds like China might prefer a democratic Myanmar, they would be easier to deal with in the short to mid term for them.
They dont realy care as long as they get to earn money
china's best interest is perhaps a neutral or non-western-aligned government in myanmar, with stable politics and no ethnic war which then china could cooperate to become its gateway to the indian ocean

One of the defining videos of the decade I think.
Johnny Harris did a good video on Facebooks role in the genocide which adds an interesting parallel story that compliments the Chinese angle
may god bless brothers and sisters from Allies forces.
I wouldn't be shocked if China played a role in the success of the ethnic rebels in Myanmar. Facing internal and external issues, China's increasing demands for concessions on the Myanmar government have not been sufficiently met. Threats of overturning the regime became reality. Other Internet sources report the rebels' weapons were upgraded with PLA equipment.
I guess this weapon could directly come from the United Wa State Army, the most powerful ethnic militia (around 20000 to 60000 manpower) in Myanmar and very closely tied with China. But China probably give Wa state tacit approval to transfer these weapons.
Yeah because those ethnic rebels in Shan, Kachin and Kokang are the same ethnic groups as those in Yunnan. They see each others as brothers and the border is porous. They've been the natives in the region. If China opposes those ethnic groups, then the local communities in China wont be happy obviously. Its really the same situation in India. Look up the history further South of Kayin states as well, those guys have been cruelly persecuted by the Burmese ever since British left and even before. Actually, having an unstable neighbor like Myanmar blows. Dont have much love for the Buddhist Burmese majority and junta who they formerly supported, since they are awful, opportunistic and cunning people.
Do you really think CCP is scare of its ethnic groups in Yungnun? Or other way around?😂 Do you really think CCP need assistance from Three brotherhood alliance? Or other way around? China can make their livilihood in hells if CCP acts on it. Do you really think CCP needs Junta? Or other way around? Why do you think rebels are winning all the way? Do you know what the rebel operation 1027 means? Why 1027? Not any other number? 😂 In short, China is answer to every question.

Interesting, US been utterly useless in trying to push democracy 😅
You should check the social media posts way before the coup, before Aung Sang Su Kyi was released and rose to power. At that time, Myanmar army was attacking ethnic groups, and China was housing many refugees from Kachin, Kokang, etc. At that time, the Myanmar military hypocritically blamed the northern ethnic groups of poppy farming. Chinese people were way more sympathetic to ordinary Myanmar people before they revealed their true colors and blamed China for everything while ignoring much bigger culprits that actually were junta allies. Chinese especially in the border towns are still sympathetic of their ethnic brothers. Personally, I sympathise with the ethnic minorities but for the Buddhist Bamar Southeast Asian majority, I'm not fond of. Hope they learn to respect different religions and people, and hope they remember to thank the ethnic groups fighting for their freedom.

The town of Muse is not pronounced "muse" like the Greek muses. It's actually pronounced more like "Mu - Sel" (with a silent L). I can help with the pronunciation of Myanmar names. Kyauk Phyu (literally translated to White Rock/Stone, Phyu = white, Kyauk = stone/rock) is pronounced this way: Kyauk: the word sort of rhymes with gout or trout. The Ky has a sort of Ch sound in like the name Charlie, but with a K instead of C. Try saying Chout but with a bit of K sound instead of C sound. Phyu: Ph here is not pronounced like the Ph in Phone. P has a soft sounding P like in the name Pat or Pete. Combine saying Pu-you with the soft P without the first 'u' in the sound: pyou (should rhyme with you or foo or yuu).
Don't bother, westerners genuinely never care about pronouncing names right
They promised us that they would try to improve pronunciation, but once again they show that they really don't care at all.
I swear Burmese spelling is intentionally confusing to english speakers. (Yes, I'm using the old spelling that ends up being closer to the actual name of the country. I think that should only aid in my point)
@@derrickthewhite1 Some "English" spelling is confusing to English speakers too.
@@ALwinDigital Fair enough! Though in the case of Burmese its not actually spelling, its romanization: how they present their language to outsiders. The current version I was complaining about was created in 1980(!) and is aggressively pushed by the Burmese government. So the government actively created and insists on a romanization more difficult for outsiders to understand.
So at 0:15 , it hurts me in the soul place that they don't draw in correctly that America is to the east. More likely they approach from the Malacca direction at the least.
