  • The judge is a bit harsh on the plaintiff. She is a photographer using a marketing tool. It's not a scam.

    @es9947@es994716 күн бұрын
    • Define scam? it is not a marketing tool, it is a marketing ploy. Learn the difference. It is an age old fishing lure ploy long used by various retail stores, and most famously by the dreaded used car salesman. And anyone who uses it deserves to be spoken to harshly. It is called "Bait and switch!" Based on the principle you lure the fish in with a very inexpensive, or free offer, then switch to an outlandishly expensive 'car' once you get there and find out the advertised model just happened to be sold the second before you arrived, or follow up you can't refuse once they have you on the hook. Just as with those 29.99 on line programs, get a turnkey for 29.99, or a free success book, then Oh wait here is this for another 99.99, oh wait you took those now here is the 999.99. SO yes it is a scam that is not illegal.

    • It's a bit predatory in so much she is preying on the kid's false belief that they could be models and the parent's nostalgia in the kid leaving the roost soon. While not illegal, it is sleazy. It's legal to be sleazy. But sleazy is sleazy.

      @cdog4100@cdog410016 күн бұрын
    • I didn't really see it as an attack, so much as Judge Judy was trying to pull away the fluff. The practice, though totally legal and an EXCELLENT way to make money, is also kind of predatory. Judge Judy even said that it was totally legal and "ingenious," but I'm guessing a big part of this case is these parents thinking their daughter was special, and so that should have made some sort of difference, and the judge is just trying to help them see that there's nothing special about it, this is this woman's genius, roundabout way to make money. The reason the plaintiff wasn't standing on her business with her whole chest is because she KNOWS she's sort of preying on vanity and ignorance with this business model. She just didn't expect the judge to come out and state it for what it really was. She probably regretted bringing her case to television after that, because the more people that see it, the more people will be disillusioned, and that hurts her wallet.

    @hdeodh@hdeodh16 күн бұрын
    • She wasn't really going after her. The photographer is the plaintiff in the case and the burden of proof is on her so knowing what exactly the business does provides context to the case.

That’s how you get scammed to low. Wow I’m sorry but I’ve known other people business people that’s done things like that to try to make a sound like it. How do you know it was going to charity how do you know? Do you see him as go and bring to charity I guarantee you don’t anybody tell you anything and then that her low price on it and I’ll ask something they can do that. You’re one of those people that will easily fall for a scam and I’m not saying that to be mean, but yes you are by the state you just fucking made and I’m sorry for my words, but that was ridiculous. I can’t believe you have to make that statement because you think that person scammer because it sounds like a great deal. Are you shitting me I’ve seen scammers through the same thing with anything even photographers, and again, anybody to tell you is going to charity you don’t know if it is do you know how many cases that where these people have been arrested or going to jail for saying something is going to charity but they’re actually scamming people You better look up all these scammers that have scam people they do not necessary ask for a lot of money and a lot of scammers sometimes ask for a lot less I’ve seen scammers ask people just donate $20 for them. Do certain kind of photos or whatever I’ve seen that happen that’s how they trick you, not scammers they asked for high prices and anybody say it was for charity don’t mean it is

In my day, we did school photos for senior photos, they were more expensive than the regular school photos and I had to do a second session, which they didn’t charge for. • Rare, but I don't completely agree with JJ. The mother and daughter picked the photos out of, I think I heard over one hundred. The photographer stopped doing any more work because of the stopped check. Why would you do the work knowing they hadn't paid for it? Also, you don't just stop payment on a check because you then decide you don't like what you got. They have the option of suing the photographer. JJ is correct about how parents think about their kids. "She is the most beautiful" You se this on America's Got Talent. Kids are told by their family they can sing when in fact they sound like someone being strangled. I do love JJ sarcasm and how she doesn't put up with interruptions.

  • The plaintiff clearly understands psychological obligation. I've seen it in many forms, from a tour guide handing out recycled material laundry bags and cookies his wife made to somebody attempting to put one of those string bracelets on me. Heck, the dealership I bought my last car from has offered to let me drive a certain vehicle for a weekend or so, and is engaging in other tactics to get me to the dealership, as their market research must show that I've had this car for four years now and they think I'm in the market for a new one (I'm not. I love the car I'm driving). For things like the string bracelet, I jerked my hand away like it was live wires, and I declined the offer from the car dealer. I took the bag and cookies, but gave the same tip I would have given. If somebody is offering something for free, look for the hidden agenda. In this case, these modeling photos are the warm-up to what are probably overpriced graduation photos.

  • Just my thought, but very uncomfortable with Judy kind of implying that this modeling agency is a front for some sexually illegal stuff with teenagers......Then again, wouldn't blame her for coming to this assumption/conclusion considering what in reality goes on in the states....
