Although true, without him they don't make the playoffs. It's sad to say but he's actually one of their better d men and a set up guy offensively, but against heavier teams, he can't do it alone. Mitch is showing maturity, he isn't being selfish trying to dangle threw the Bruins. He is matured now and sees the big picture. Keep the puck out of our end and pounce when you see the breaks. All the shit Marner’s gotten is warranted, but… it’s the playoffs. One good game and you can erase it. Hope he can step up and play a big role, the team needs him to be at his best if they’re going to win this series.
Warranted-ish. The offensive aspect has been down since the injury, but he’s playing great defensively as usual. Always has been our best penalty killer, and is a huge part of the offensive clicking. Hopefully we get a big game out of Mitch to silence the blind hatred the “media outlets”like The Toronto Sun 😂shove down willing fan’s throats
He hasn't been that bad bit considering he's recently back from an injury and not exactly playing with the best players, he's done fairly well so far. He's a set up guy, for the most part, not a top scorer.
@Leaf77v I guarantee that everyone putting him down right now or want him gone will act like he's been "the best" all along, just like Matthews and Tavares last game. If they're nit potting 15+ goals a game, every game, the get criticized for it. Marner and Matthews are still getting the "ghosts" bs from last year. Marner was the teams best goal scorer and points man, Matthews was second. Shows how stupid "fans" really are.
Samsonov was great in game 2 so the media needed another scapegoat. They chose Marner to be that scapegoat for the teams shortcomings.

Mitch is handling himself differently & looked far much more comfortable in game 2. He really didn’t look ready for playoff hockey in game 1. With his offensive & defensive skills - if he well adjusts to playoff officiating - he might surprise some people. It looks like this Leaf team needs to manage themselves when playing their home games. Go Leafs go! 😀That might be pretty hard to do.

Mitch, if you play your game and dominate like you do sometimes in the regular season, no one would have a problem with you. But you're terrified of body contact and you're terrified of the playoffs,. If you play like you're paid, i think people would get off your back, but every playoffs is the same like in forever. You,'ve never had a memorable playoffs moment out of all the core, Rielly was awesome last year, Tavares scored the ot winner to clinch the 1st round against Tampa, Matthews just had the best playoffs game of his career , Willy always plays well. He did play likes he's paid, which is why they're in the playoffs. They don't get paid for playoffs, unless they make the finals. Everybody knows that they call far fewer penalties on opposing teams then they do the Leafs, every year, so why would anybody risk further injury for no money and could end your career?

Toronto fans sometimes lose perspective on just how rugged the league is. Boston, Florida, the Rangers, and Carolina are a murderer's row if there ever was one. Toronto in all likelihood will have to beat 3 of those teams just to get to their 1st cup final in 57 years. It's a monumental challenge, and Leaf fans shouldn't get their hopes up too high.

I don't see how Toronto can view the season as a success unless they at least get to the ECF. To do that they obviously have to finish off Boston and then likely have to beat Florida. YIKES! Then to get to the cup final they probably would have to go through either the Rangers or Carolina. That's a double YIKES!! I simply.don't see how Toronto can be consideted a serious cup contender.

Marner can't handle the rough stuff. His style of play is all 'flash & dash'.
Rightly.or wrongly, Marner is catching a ton of heat. If Toronto fails to get out of the 2nd round, or, worse yet, gets taken out by Boston in the 1st round, AND Marner continues to have a mediocre to.poor play-off, then there will be cries from many of the fanatics to put him.on the chopping block.

Marner is one of the best defensive forwards on this team. 3. Nylander is less then useless in any defensive manner and often leaves the ice when the opposing team is in the Leafs end, costing a goal against 97% of the time 4. Last contract, Nylander missed almost half the season because he wanted more money. He put money, literally, ahead of the team. 5. Nylander doesn't do corners. 6. If you actually watch them play, which you obviously don't because of your comment, you can easily see how jealous he is of Matthews and even tried taking him out at the end of the season. 7. Marner is playing, despite not being fully healed just like Matthews last year, but where's Nylander? Exactly. There's not a shred of evidence that Nylander is better in any way. Without Nylander, the Leafs remain a playoff team. Without Marner, this team never makes the playoffs. Do not get drawn into the chase around the back of your goalie. 2 on other side of the posts and the other 2 or 3 sweeping and getting your body in front of their shots.
