Very real and natural, as if they're actual real people. Just like how it has been trying to do since episode 1. I'm so happy they chose the casts the way they did.

Sometimes, two people don't need to end up together to thrive. First love's something that you can look back on, learn something from it, grow because of it and forever cherish it. At least their love got a bit of a closure at the end even if it did not have a satisfying conclusion. Not many people in real life got to do this with their first love.

This. As much as a lot of people didn’t like the ending, I liked it, because I understood the meaning behind it. We were all young at one point and we all have our first love and at that moment everything feels like they will last forever. But they don’t. And that’s okay. You live the moments, these same moments becomes the past and the past becomes a fond memory. Unfortunately for alot of us we fall off our first love, when, at the time you thought your first love would be forever. This is what this drama is about. Your experiences becomes a fond memory that you will always cherish. I also liked the ending with Hee Do as the answer to Yi-Jin’s first love question. Even if they didn’t end up together, she is his past that he will forever cherish. And no matter how hard the break ups are, life will always go on and you will eventually find another love.
Tae ri is deservedly getting a lot of praise for her role, but I just wanna say nam joo hyuk really stepped up his acting game too. He totally elevated the role of yi Jin, I can’t wait to see what kind of acting roles he takes on in the future.
Yup, when i watch his previous drama like weight lifting kim bok joo and start up, i dont feel impressed with his acting. But in this drama his acting is much better.

Every scene holds such deep and beautiful meanings 0:21 *I don't need a rainbow* such a simple yet beautiful. Its the type of love where you're inlove with the PERSON and not the romantic attraction. That's what makes their love so special. It started off as a friendship, which turned into platonic love, which slowly blossomed into deep love romantically. 0:32 The song playing in the background, and the lyrics *i thought it'd last forever, our 25 and 21* They already foreshadowed the ending in ep 2. Which makes it all even harder to watch all their swoonworthy moments. I still believe they ended up together in my imagination

Never a fan of Nam Joo Hyuk acting before.. Idk why his pairing with FL always get overshadowed by SML except for weightliftting fairy drama. In here, he really embodies his character as BYJ and I don't think other actor can top this version of BYJ. His subtle facial expression and emotion really tugs the viewer feeling. As for Kim Tae Ri, i avoid her until 25 21 drama. I wonder why people always hype her in korea. Now i get my answer, she has her own unique charm when acting. Her clear crystal eyes really stand out when she acts. Their unexpected chemistry is definitely a surprise to me. They succeed in proving my first impression was totally wrong. They are a total opposite but definitely fit like gloves. This drama is the definition of nostalgia hitting you so hard that it creates a bittersweet feeling of revisiting those past moments again.

Binge-watched for 4 days. When this became so popular last year 2023 and knew what the ending, i was thinking maybe i'll skip. But im glad i decided to watch it. It feels like a reply 1988 kdrama, very light but engaging. The story of how Hee do and yu rim friendship started, i cried in all their touching scenes. When yi jin first said I love you in the bridge scene made me feel like a teenager again. It is a masterpiece. Just like my favorite reply 1988.
The chemistry is top notch. They don't need to have steamy scenes...the intimacy came from the way they looked at each other and the powerful lines....This is a love story, simple and pure

I never imagine the way how this drama ended. Their foundation of love is so strong, that kind of love was definitely worth fighting for. Also their characters weren't that kind of persons who will give up easily. Kinda bit disappointed how the writer ended their story. But overall twenty five twenty one is truly a masterpiece!

It actually make sense when you think about it. Hee do spent almost all her childhood being alone because her mom doesn't have the time for her since she's always busy with work. She can't let her future stay like that because she knows how hurtful it is to wait for someone and to be constantly disappointed, so no one can blame her or the writers for ending their story like that. In fact, yijin had the choice to stop thinking bout others first in the first place. I am not blaming him.... Its just that he cares too much about the people and the world and that's cool but sometimes you have to think about your own happiness first. He helped a lot of people by staying and giving interviews but then he was suffering. He's always been like that, thinking about others first. Think about it.. With hee do who suffered from trauma and yijin who cared and still cares too much about the world. They were never gonna work. They loved each other so much that they choose to let go because way deep down they know that they can't easily change those part of them. Hee do can't promise yijin that she will not get affected and will not get hurt by yijin's choices anymore and yijin can't promise hee do that he won't care about others anymore. Romance in real life aren't always like a fairytale, some things are just not meant to work. Happy endings in romance are actually just premature love, everything ends with sadness. Time will come and you will grief one way or another, that's life for you.

They ended their love when it was still strong. If they had hook up, they might have lost their love, grow bittersweet and maybe even feel hatred. Then both their characters would have lost their charm to us, the audience.
My Alternative Ending: Years go by. Its now 2022. Heedo still holds onto the past regrets of their breakup. She often wonders what their life would be if they gave it one more try. She goes to the tunnel. One last time, to reminisce about that youthful summer, that blossoming love. Minchae goes back to her ballet classes and decides to pursue her dreams. Just as Heedo gets out of her car, she sees a man, who looks like he's in his late 40s. He's staring at the tunnel when suddenly their eyes meet. She lets out a small gasp. Those eyes. How are they still the same even after so many years? He takes a step forward. 'Well well, if it isn't the legendary Na Hee-do' he smiles. The minute she hears the tone of his voice, she knows its him. Baek Yijin. 'Baek Yijin.' she says. A name she hasn't said outloud in years. 'Have you been well, Heedo?' 'Yes. I'd like to say that. What about you?' He hesitates for a moment, 'If I'm being completely honest, I haven't been that well'. Heedo can feel the tears forming in her eyes. 'Me neither.' she says, almost in a whisper. Yijin and Hee Do not getting back together is not a bad ending but an expected one. It has been brilliantly built up and foreshadowed since ep 3. Yijin knew even before they got together what kind of ending they will have if they crossed that line which eventually happened. It's the reason why he tried to put distance between them bec he doesn't want to subject Hee Do in a relationship with disappointments bec he knew deep inside he couldn't promise to always be there for her. Hee Do took risks, but throughout their relationship, she finally accepted the reality of it while it was happening and saw that the present selves have no future together. Both of their characters stayed consistent at their cores from the start and end of the drama. They grew up at some point, but also grew apart from each other. Hee Do has always been a straightforward character. She started recklessly pursuing what she wants but grew to handle people and circumstances better. She always stayed true to her principles and what she believes is right even if it was breaking up with the person she loved bec it was no longer serving them both. Yijin has always been someone who has a massive sense of responsibility and has a tendency to internalize emotions he shouldn't be responsible for (paying his father's creditors, shielding his bro from the harsh reality in life, feeling sorry for the deaths bec of the negligence of a construction company, and lastly, the 9/11 attack.) Yijin's traumatic experience with 9/11 fully cements a world without Hee Do, beyond personal troubles and relationships, and opens the harsh realities of life and the meaning of what true public service is. It is a world that Hee Do won't truly be able to relate and empathize with (thus why her support isn't reaching Yijin anymore and why it's no longer working for him.) Their time together was both beautiful and bittersweet. They both knew that it wouldn't last forever. That's why they both took risks in getting together as long as they can. Yijin knew he was hurting Hee Do by missing out a lot but he trusted her faith in him. But there's only so much patience and sacrifice a person could endure before they ran out of emotion to give. She grew tired and got emotionally exhausted. Tbh, she was the one carrying their relationship together. A courageous leap of faith considering the experience she had with her mother. Hee Do's empathy, unwavering support, and understanding were what drove Yijin to get back on his feet again during his lowest point in life. Yijin's presence, support, and guidance were what comforted Hee Do in an important phase in her life. But now, the 25-year-old Yijin and 21-year-old Hee Do are both adults who want different things in life. Yijin has a strong sense of public service and drives to excel in his career, while Hee Do lets him go bec she's no longer the support he needs at that stage in his life. It also boils down to Hee Do's self-worth, accepting that she deserves a man who can be present at her side. Both of them prioritize their goals and dreams, with Yijin moving to New York and Hee Do busy with her international competitions. Both also won't truly be happy if one of them sacrifices for the sake of their personal relationship. The best solution is to let go amicably on good terms but it wasn't a satisfactory breakup. Even in their last moments together, they weren't seeing eye to eye. That's the only regret Hee Do has in that phase in her life. It's a very realistic ending and a meaningful one.

Kim Tae Ri nailed this role of an 18 year fencing sportswoman to the hilt. It is a feat for this 32 year old actor to play the role of an 18 year old and get away with flying colors.I thought she was just in her 20s. It is a casting coup with this leading actor. Too bad I was hoping they would have kept it to the end, as KTR 's daughter was going through her diary.Ah, but sometimes, life ends that way.
I only recently realized we have only one real kiss throughout the show , except for that mew hear kiss from Heedo, this just shows that their chemistry is so good and that skinship is not all. We could have gotten another kiss if not for the ending, i badly need a happy ending drama with these two as leads again

I didnt understand the hype of 2521 until i watched it. I thought i will regret watching it because of the infamous sad ending. But i m glad i watched it because what a journey it was. To witness their selfless love, support, growth, happiness. Each scene was heartfelt and so well visualised. KTR and NJH brought life to the characters and I believe nobody could have dont justice to their roles better than them. Yes i cried hard and the ending deeply broke my heart but i was wrong that i would regret it, i dont regret watching this materpiece. It now holds a very special place in my heart. 😔❤️

I decided to watch ep 16 again for the second time today, and I thought I'm gonna cry again and be heartbroken. But strangely enough, after more than a week of recovery from the heartbreak, it gave me a feeling of closure. I guess it has now transitioned to a bittersweet nostalgic memory of mine. Thank you for this drama. Not only did Baek Yi Jin and Na Hee Do bring out the best in each other, but it also brought out the best in Nam Joo Hyuk and Kim Taeri as well. I'll probably watch this drama again after many months, but for now I'm gonna look forward to their next projects. I'll be cheering for you!

I'm in the 15th episode now, they won't be together as everyone wants, but it's still a good series. A meaningful and promising series.
What made this chemistry so pure and real is that it didn't rely on the looks or other physical appearance. It came out naturally because of the love yijin has for heedo and the other way around. What they had was pure love and just that, no other factors or elements. Love that came so unexpectedly and that was so giving and rare. That's why it hurt so bad when they broke up. They're love is one of a kind, very rare and very ideal. We were so entangled with the thought that they and what they had were perfect. As much as love can't make them last together, it was what made them grow individually as persons. At some point of their lives, they really deserved and completed each other.

At first, I was not happy nor satisfied with the ending...like I thought this drama could've gone on a different track than this....but now that it has ended I feel as if without this ending, the drama may not have been able to give the meaning it gave to the viewers...NJH and KTR both were incredible...amazing chemistry, acting and character development throughout the series...will miss 25 21 wholeheartedly!!!!!!

6:30 always makes me love Yejin, he was so reassuring when Heedo had no one to calm her nerves and her desperation for a break to glory. The lines "take your time to climb the peak and take whatever you want " is such a reassuring thing to say. And damn she really did take it all, she became a legend of South Korean Fencing,unbeated in all her finals. I always think this scene to be so powerful between two people who were down and kind of motivated each other to take the flight.
Fell for these two n the whole 2521 in that scene.
@@a__asnow6402 the scene made me cry,I understood how they were rooting for each other and how much it affected their future, they pushed each other in that moment when they had nobody to back them. When Heedo asks why do you root for me and Yejin's answer just gives me goosebumps.

This one is my favorite drama for quite a long time. The main couple touched my heart so many times, and I still "tear up" every time I think of their break up scenes. Brilliant lead actors, I just adore them both. Nam Joo Hyuk has been a favorite since early in my KDrama-watching days, when I watched him in Cheese In The Trap. And the same for Kim Tae-ri in Mr. Sunshine.
Mapanakit!. . Huhuhuhu. . But TBH you could see NJH's growth as an actor here in 2521. Having seen him in previous drama, he really did well in this series. The closure scene is so heartfelt, just them staring longingly at each other and only the voice over at the background. Man ,that was hard!. But we felt it, right? . Really heartbreaking. Would also commend him on the scene after the luggage switch, when he went home heartbroken after the initial fight with Heedo. Just as he was to tear up, work calls and he needs to do it ASAP. The sudden switch of emotion is really good. Maybe Kim Tae Ri supporting him in scenes bring out the best in him. 👏👏👏 all praises to the cast and the writer. Thanks for this wonderful drama. They deserve the Baeksang nomination.
