  • Okay, I'm impressed. The addition of the wire to the brim makes a lot of sense given how useful it is.

  • I originally used steel, mechanic wire. Functional until it rusted and ate through the the brim. Switched to aluminum after that. Foldable, moldable and non-ferromagnetic.

    • Here I use stainless but have also used aluminum. Always been worried of corrosion

  • Am not sure how European forces wear their covers (or jungle hats, they call it in UK and EU) but US Marines do not sink their covers all the way down the head like you would in a patrol cap. Instead however, the hat should be gently seated in so doing it allows for proper ventilation- hence the vent holes on the side. Thanks for the Wire loop mod. Very nice. Paper clips are common amongst USMC and even the Army. 4 paperclips spaced out evenly usually will do. I do however, like the wire loop better as it gives the hat an even profile. Greetings from USA 🇺🇸 Thanks

    • Well, I have seen how you wear the boonie hat in the US and I am not fond of it. I like it really well seated on my head but it’s personal. Oh, I have never heard of the paper clip tip! Thanks a lot Let me know how you like it once done! And don’t hesitate to share the video if you like the mod! Thanks a huge lot

  • In North America we have rotary grass trimmers that use a stiff nylon line. That is what I've got in my hat brim. I put cloth nametag inside for identification.

  • i thread a piece of fence wire thru the brim so i can shape it

    @tomcatt998@tomcatt9986 ай бұрын
    • That works well too! Only worry is the rust but you can still change the wire if needed. Fence wire isn’t in permanent contact, usually, with wet fabric so it corrodes less or slower

    • Good question. The very first I made a long time ago got through this fine. I did use single core electric wire inside the insulation. The copper ends did show a little. The got some oxidation but no big problem. The wire was thick enough so even when wet it kept the shape and was easy to reshape as you want

  • How do you do the paracord on your hat

    @markheyer2285@markheyer22856 ай бұрын
    • Thanks for asking. If I remember well, on this one I did wrap about ten times paracord around the boonie “band” then threaded the end around the bundle of paracord and through the webbing band around the base of the hat, then went on the other direction also spiraling so that it gives a cross pattern

      @PinewoodCH@PinewoodCH5 ай бұрын
