If Crixus and his army stayed unified with Spartacus history may have changed significantly.
Having more rebel troops did not change that more Roman armies were closing in. Maybe they could overcome Crassus, but not the other two right in his heels.
@@Wolfen443 I never could make sense of why the entire lot didn't escape Italy when they had the chance. You were right about 2 armies closing in. I know one was led by Pompey Magnus I have forgotten the other.
@@captainamerica6525 , Spartacus was a tactical leader, but not a great unifier in general decisions. Crixus and others wanted revenge on the Romans and winning a few battles in their way North made most of them believe that they could wage a rebellion against Rome with some success. Anyway, Rome was not going to let a so far successful Rebel Slave Army Escape from Roman lands unharmed, they were going to pursue them outside of Italy,. That . along with the complicated issue of neighboring tribes probably not allowing them passage fearing Roman retribution.
the delay may still have been a major factor with the diversion Crixis ultimately created...

@@tommot94Spartacus never went anywhere near that far north. He made it to Medina, but that was during a summer and I don't think it snows there even in the winter. The Italian Alps aren't like Switzerland. He and his troops spent their one winter in the south of Italy. Romans, like the Greeks before them, wrote shit down so we have a decent idea what happened. As well as you can for a slave that died 2100 yrs ago
