How is global economy stabilizing if the global geopolitics is so unstable? Also, the upcoming US elections in such a polarized atmosphere & the new president could further adversely impact the market. IMHO the current state is like the lull before the storm. Everywhere, be it internal state of many countries or the state of geopolitics appears to be on tenterhooks. 🤞

@32:50 prof speaks about disconnect between education and skill/ industry requirements! this a real lacuna in our country - this is because primarily there are not many industry houses ( frm concepts to products , in accordance to needs) like tata/ mahindra/ godrej/ biocon types. unfortunately most business are kirana types ( yahn ka maal ohan, bich ka malai mera ) . This approach has to change and " we need business - academia " interaction/ partnership. Universities need to participate in problem solving for industries ( like engineering/ maths- statistics/ economics/ biotechnology).
Prime Minister Modi’s economic team should bring this Professor into future planning team .
That's true to build a drone from concept to prototype is a painstaking job in india.

Unfortunately a large section of our population is a passenger population. There is a very small percentage that contributes, drives the economy. The large portion pulls them down just because they are afraid of being left behind, they becoming irrelevant..

Are you kidding me. I have been living in HS for 38 years. I have also worked for InfoSys in U.S. ( 2005) out of NJ. The reason InfoSys could only find 8 out of 1000 US candidates is because only this way they could bring Indian candidates on H1B on a cheaper wages or hourly rate… There are fantastic candidates ( I worked for University of Michigan) coming out of US universities of local stock. So it’s not exactly as your guest is processing.
In 60s, Vance Packard had said for sustaining American Economy there should be some war some where in the world. With so many war theatres of war opened up and arms being used at astronomical scale will keep US economy fueled. After war in each theatre there will be reconstruction what US arms destroyed. So US will remain on growth path for some more years. High debt is because of high working capital of Wat and financing destruction for reconstruction in future.

Our industry is yet to realise the potential of investing in creating intellectual properties. Currently, almost all of them think it is a waste of time and money with the low quality of trained workforce we produce.
The speaker was not convincing in answering if the US economy has the worse behind it..also what sterling steps they took to regain balance and stable economic growth?!!...good podcast except the last 15 mins.
Prof is bang on when analyzing our internal issues. But I have to disagree on his assessment of the global economy. He says the worst is behind us. It is not. First he says jobs are fine in US he does not see that the quality of jobs and that a lot of it is part time is a problem. The other thing he does not take into account is people who have dropped out of the job market so that makes the unemployment numbers look better than they are. And finally while the inflation moderated he is making an erroneous assumption that it will be contained when the reality is, as proven by numbers that came out today, that's inflation is accelerating again. Earlier everyone expected multiple rate cus by the fed starting in may. Not happening. Them they said cuts will start in June, guess what? Not happening. So from 4 cuts this year we are now down to 1 or 2. In my opinion that too is optimistic because the quality of jobs is poor and inflation is higher than government reported numbers. And add the debt that they are piling on like drunken sailors - it will effect their own economy significantly. Even if US$ is being used by the world. Why? because the capital is being used up by non productive government spend and interest. The very excess of capital that led to innovation in the west will now turn into a vicious cycle from a virtuous one. Ther will be am economic event within couple of years and India will get hit for the very reasons he describes amd the world is awash in trillions of debt that has been piled on since 2008 which will never be repaid. There are two outcomes. One is debt deflation and 1930 style depression world wide or stagflation 1970s style worldwide. Take your pick. With world so interconnected compared to those periods yhe geo political impact is difficult to guess. And these conditions qre what will lead to wars on a much greater scale.
Tesla don't need to come in India, those who love Tesla can buy from Germany and pay import taxes and bring to India, Indian public can only tata quality and price and anything more expensive and Indian public will not buy ,Japanese manufacturing have very strong footprint, besides usa products have failed in past and would failure again.
