  • The hotdogs are easy to explain Joe. They cook on a flat top grill (the meat and presumably the bun is toasted there too), or in a fryer. Cooking them in water would add another cooking station (taking up more space and requiring another employee). Grilling them just adds a job for the existing grill cook, and spitting them gets them cooked more quickly than leaving them whole (roughly half the time). The other option, a rolling grill (like you'd see at convenience stores amongst other places) requires there to be constantly cooking dogs, and restaurant margins tend to be too close to potentially throw away food that way. Make it to order as quickly as possible while using the fewest number of employees, and cooking stations and the result is a grill fried split dog.

  • This is such a fascinating series, as a UKish person I'd always assumed that American portions were much larger, but it's actually quite hit and miss with a fair number seeming roughly equivalent, though you always have the larger drinks. Our BK did do a extra large drink for a couple of years at my local branch at the time. You could pay an add on charge to supersize your meal, and you got a 1.2 litre drink if I recall correctly. I used to hit BK on the way home and the drink would last me until sleep time lol. It was worth the extra, particularly with the mixing drink dispensers. Grape Fanta and Coke, or grape and Dr pepper. Man, I miss those big boi drinks! Can't believe all the instances of fry gate tho! Especially BK with the small and medium being identical, that's really naughty! No surprise that you can't put them in food when the butylate part is chemically similar to what coats tool handles as butyl rubber, and the end part is toluene, a heavily restricted solvent that's known to be carcinogenic. I'm not sure about the middle part, but the beginning and ending make me want to steer clear of it in my food.

  • Just if some of y’all were wondering about why there are no prices I have some guesses: One issue with adding prices and factoring in currency differences is that costs can be different depending on where you live within that country. Alaska, Hawaii, Utah and New York have different prices for the same food at whatever fast food place. Also currency exchange rates do fluctuate because that’s just how the economy works. Therefore it would not be reliable. I don’t know if this is why they didn’t add pricing and what not but this may be part of the reason why. Also it’s just an extra thing and takes more time and effort and the prices are all cheap and probably change often as well.

I usually get the BBQ one and ask for extra BBQ since the one they use in the kitchen (Smokey BBQ) is better than the sauce we use for the Selects (tenders for you guys I think in the US), the Spicy Mayo was my first legend and I had a Raspberry Ripple iced drink with it to cool my mouth down 😂
