I want faster internet. Like, always. In this speed showdown, we compare AT&T Internet Air and Verizon 5G Cube to see which one comes out on top. If you're looking for a new home internet option, this comparison video is a must-watch! Whether you're using an iPhone 13 Pro Max or any other device, you'll want to see the results of this showdown.
I begin by unboxing the BRAND NEW Internet Air Hub from AT&T. Does it hold it's own against Verizon 5G, or is it FASTER? We also compare speeds against an iPhone 13 Pro Max on AT&T 5G Cellular Data.
Which 5g Home Router is actually better?

Considering you live in a farm area, 253mbps is damn good. That’s more than enough for the average person. You’re lucky to even get that in a rural area.
I'm definitely grateful to get betting what we have, and off-peak times I'm seeing speeds of about 330Mbps which is pretty great.
For better upload speeds, put the AT&T box facing a window and using the tower aligner in the app to get the best result
I do plan to try this out soon when I have time. I'm still hung on whether it's a connection issue, or if the bottleneck is at the actual tower itself.
I would recommend testing the AT&T device in different areas of your house and see where the fastest test is. Even if you have to run an Ethernet cable to an AP. It can make a worlds of signal difference when you are closer to a window, and your phone was only getting 250 down and 3 up, so it can't be expected that the AT&T Internet Air device will be much better. Maybe in the most northeast window of your house, you can give that a try.
Ok sounds good!
Did you ever try testing both devices in other locations throughout your house? Even small moves can make a big difference. Nice video!
That's a good idea! I'm getting significantly faster speeds in the evenings during off-peak hours. I hope to do an update video soon 👍👍
So ATT doesn't suggest placing this device in a window and then checking speed? Try searching for KZheadr "NaterTater". He has lots and lots of videos covering this whole cellular home internet "thing".
Highly recommend getting a ethernet cable and trying both. I have AT&T Fiber 1Gig and when I speedtest on my phone right next to router I only get 300 down and 300 up. If I speedtest on my laptop I get around 700 down and 700 up over wifi. If I speedtest on ethernet I get 940/940. I think the limitation comes a lot in the phone.
Will do, watch for this in a video soon!
Yes, phones are not full powered wifi receivers if they were bye bye battery :)
Wi-Fi 6 or 7 router and compatible phone will get your that 1Gig speed on Wi-Fi
@@matt498vf yikes
But when doing speed test on your wireless for att I get 300-600
I would like to know how you were able to get the ATT one, to be able to use it in a rural area where you live? In my area, they say it is not available but we have access to 5g from ATT.
I was surprised we were able to get it. We live in between 2 cities - Everett and Lake Stevens. I spot we live is rural but we are minutes away from suburbia. I hope you can get service in your area soon.
Look into getting an external antenna. With some simple calibrations outside you can point it directly at the best tower and double to even quadruple your current speeds.
Whaaaat that sounds awesome! I'm looking into this 👍👍👍
@@FilmmakerJoe24 yeah it requires some disassembly of the router to tap into the antenna ports. But not hard to do and no soldering required. however, some of the newer tmobile routers actually include external antenna jacks so I'm guessing AT&T and Verizon later will adopt that on their new 5g modems.
I can see on your test that the ping is below 100ms and is around 70! That’s impressive! Thanks for the great video pal! Does your test by any chance show what the MTU is?
Great question, Speedtest.net doesn't share the MTU size used in the test. The AT&T All-Fi is set to 1430 and can't be changed. Hope this info helps a little.
Seems like the latency is generally higher on ATT. Not a big deal but if you care about online gaming having a ping up around 80 to 100ms is not going to work very well
Yeah good point. I don't game so typically latency isn't something I zero in on, but will give it more attention in future videos. Thanks you!
Even without gaming I notice the latency in the AT&T Air at a relatives house compared against my Xfinity wired connection at my house.
Bro, tell me about it😢
I just bought the AOSU solar power cameras. Can I connect them to this?
If the cameras have WiFi then it should work.
Watching this while hating AT&T so much right now. Worst ever customer service. But hey, use what internet you need. I love reviews like this. I've been looking to just go wired. Is that bizarre? Speaking of bizarre, the AT&T Cube, lol, why did they make it that way? Does it act as some sort of WiFi worship zone? It needs to glow in colors, lol.
Hopefully I don't need to go through Customer Service, especially since I was born with the natural gift of Impatience😂 I would always prefer to go Wired when it is an option, however where I live it is not available. But yeah, the All-Fi hub looks like a Shrine. I keep it in the cabinet below the TV and it's working fine in there, although I'm concerned about heat dissipation once summer hits. Stay tuned!
Can you travel with the ATT air? Use ie use in an RV?
Great question - the jury is still out on this one. I believe you are locked to the tower near your home, however, I would like to confirm this. I did attempt to travel with the Verizon in the camper van; we drove from Washington to Moab and Lake Tahoe, and it did work in other places with it was very slow, we were definitely not getting 5G speeds (or even 4G speeds for that matter).
6:43 I don't like that the equipment shown the app animation had 2 additional ethernet ports than was on the equipment sent to the customer here. Also, never complain about hard wiring.
Totally agree, why are they showing me something better than what they sent me?
How is this for streaming online? Like Apple TV?
Great question! It's really great for streaming shows, and it's fast enough for streaming to several devices at the same time.
Which of the two do you prefer using, after a couple of weeks of use?
Hi Jack great question! I'm enjoying the AT&T a bit more thanks to the faster upload speeds, and besides that, the experience is very similar to the Verizon 5G whereas it just works, and we don't have to think about it.
My relative got the T-Mobile version and is getting 500+ consistently
Nice, that's fast! What state is that in?

No ports to hook up external antenna? Not good
Ports for antennas would be nice, there are likely some ports on the inside you could tap into. Would you run a wire from the port to an antenna mounted outside on the roof?
I have the same service(att) here in Grove City, Ohio… I’m getting 600 up and 25 down… has to be the location possibly
Whoa! Yes, that's pretty fast! Are you using Wifi or are you connected to the hub with an ethernet cable?
@@FilmmakerJoe24 that was with wifi. I have a separate router that I use for Ethernet connected to it for more ports I don’t get as fast of wifi speeds though through my router as I do straight from the hub
I received an email letting me know I can switch to AT&T Air at no additional cost. Not sure what benifits me switching.
What service are you using now?
I heard they were trying to phase out some of their old outdated wired services with the air
why is US service so slow most of the time i see it? I'm in a little village in the uk and get 200mbit+ down 50-70mbit up on 5G, only a bit slower on the download on 4G (We're not using 5G for upload atm) and I know that's a slow site. I've had 800Mbit + speeds over 5G without mmWave and that was like 2 years ago
Yeah I'm not quite sure why. Rural internet speeds where we live aren't the best; in fact, even in most of the towns it isn't very fast. Glas you're seeing great speeds in the UK!
Is there data caps with this service?
That was my question, too! Allegedly, AT&T says there are no caps and no throttling with this service.
You want to stay with Verizon and get you a outdoor antenna in outdoor leads to hook up to the Verizon box and you'll get your speeds that you're looking for
Huh?
Whenever you were testing those so close together, it caused WiFi interference, that’s why the Verizon cube was so slow.
Yes, that's very likely. I've also noticed that other times of the week the internet will test way faster - closer to 330Mbps down. Thursday seems to be a busy internet day here.
my upload is under 10 very slow I live near tower so why slow?
Hi, great question. It could be several reasons - The signal could have trouble penetrating the walls of your home, try moving to near a window in the direction of the tower. Also, try moving it higher above the ground. Also, if you point the fast of the AllFi Hub towards the tower this will help as well. Ultimately though, sometimes slow speeds are a result of network congestion. Good luck with trying to improve your speed - be sure to post back here if you find something that helps.
@@FilmmakerJoe24 All of these are done right don't know why still don't work
The future is not wireless! The radio spectrum will always be a limitation. Fiber is the ting to go after.
Yes, I think you're right! Where I live, fiber is currently not an option. The fastest internet we can get is 5G, and Starlink is too expensive where other things could still work.
quite silly they don't include a few hours of backup power
I agree, wish they did! Could pair it with a UPS of course 😀
As large as it is you should be able to watch TV on it🤔😆
Haha right?!?!
the fact that it has a 10gig port is confusing AF. the 5G on it is never reaching anywhere near that. seems like a wasted port on a cell data product.
I agree, and with just a single 10gig work it negates using it for 10gig internal network traffic. It's weird
My Verizon box works much better than Spectrum’s internet and it’s half the cost. I guess it depends on your location.
I think it's very location dependant. Where is Spectrum's service offered?
@@FilmmakerJoe24 Spectrum covers the South East far as I’m aware. They use to be Time Warner. It’s always been subpar, but there’s been little competition until now.
did a test and got 700mbps down.... my eyes opened lol
Nice, that's fast! Where abouts are you?
@@FilmmakerJoe24 I’m over in Texas. My best friend was contemplating so I went to his window and did that on an iPhone. He pulled the trigger lol 😂
Have you tried T-Mobile internet? I get almost 100 on the upload.
NoI haven't yet, where is it offered? How much do you spend?
The AT&T device is ugly and too big. They should have designed it as a cube similar to the Verizon device.
Yeah I totally agree!!!
had this hub for 4 months now and shouldnt need to say this but my upload speed has never reached over 5mb. not once have i got into a game and not seen ping issues. ATT is truly the wifi of all time.
It's different and unique
@@FilmmakerJoe24why not get FiOS or fiber in general
Gonna add you to my hot sexy nerd pantheon. Hubba hubba 🤤 And great instructional video btw👍🏼
Happy to make the list! 🤣🤣🤣
Infelizmente precisamos ser francos e...que design ridículo esse do aparelho da AT&T. Realmente triste em achar que todos concordaram isso.
Si!
Do NOT trade in your modem for this. They talked us into it & nothing but regrets. Promised faster internet & straight lied or mislead us. If it ain’t broke dont fix it so this means they are cutting back on something that will effect the quality & need your cooperation. It’s not about giving us better quality, it’s about helping them cutting back. Dont do it, we are now going with a whole new provider due to the trust breach now,
Thanks for sharing! Sorry about your bad experience. What service are you trying next?? Would love to hear!
So we have the Verizon cube and like it. How are you doing with the this new system?
Att sucks , Verizon the best
I have had good luck with both companies so far, but if any issues come up with AT&T I will quickly switch back to Verizon.
so far my ATT works fine could be my location.
@@markrenton1093More than likely it is your location
Verizon is pretty bad too.
