  • It weird listening to these radio shows as I used to go into London on a near weekly basis when I was a young kid. So I've been in and/or walked passed almost all the locations they have mentioned on the radio show which I cant help but think about when I find myself around those areas again. The Virgin Megastore that used to be In Oxford Circus where Steve bought that PS2 before presumably going to the walking down the road to the HMV near the former Sega World/Funland Arcade and seeing that he could have got the PS2 and GTA 3 for £20 less. The fact that China Town is not so much a town but a street with Bright orange chicken in the windows, one pagoda and two betting shops The Mc Donald's in Leicester Square two minutes away from the XFM offices where they got the burgers from for Karls World Record Breaking attempt (There should be a blue English heritage plaque for that) The 'freaks' who live in Forbidden Planet. Cant say what that place used to be like though but one of my favourite stores though I have also seen that chef clothing shop that they mentioned once and possibly that antique store with the "Old Russian wood" and The most expensive pub in London in Covent Garden That newsagents where Steve said that it looked like she was trapped by snacks and had to sell her way out of it. That I believe is/was outside of Tottenham Court Road station which I think is where he 'haggled" for a Laptop There was a nice Japanese restaurant Ten Ten Tei that I used to be taken to, Great food but some of the worst toilets I've ever seen. Id rather use that one in trainspotting. But we never went further down that road as much as I wanted to just to satisfy a curiosity as to what could be down there. Now that I'm older and have been down that road myself I realise why. All the sex shops, not a complaint just an observation. If anyone wants a Ricky Gervais Show XFM tour of London let me know lol

  • Karl comes up with something to moan about, eg, David Bowie changes his songs when performing live. Ricky and Steve explain that it's not true, or a misconception, and explain why it's not the way Karl thinks it is. Eg, Bowie changed a note here and there but it was a faithful rendition. Karl ploughs on without listening to a word they said, and gets annoyed at what he's just made up in his own head. Eg, the titanic not sinking. I've been listening to this formula for over a decade and it's still incredible. I'll never get tired of Karl.

  • Something massive came out my mates nose! Doc sent it off for testing, turns out it was a lump of chicken. Apparently he had fallen asleep eating a chicken kebab, and a piece had worked its way into he's nasal passage, when it came out it looked nothing like chicken, more like some sort of brain mucus, and that's what he thought it was lol gave him a proper scare. True story that also fucking funny, when he got he's results. Lol

    • He's a comic genius. Even if most of the stuff he comes out with is just him being himself and is basically accidental, it's still all down to his sense of comic timing and absurdism. He's just a unique, wonderful creature. I do wonder sometimes what would've happened if Ricky and Steve hadn't met him though. Because as brilliant as he is, Ricky(and to a lesser extent Steve) really did polish him to a sheen and make him so much funnier than he normally is. I don't see him striking out on his own without Ricky, and I don't see any other comedian recognising and capitalising on his brilliance. It really is one of those cosmic coincidences, a proper sliding doors moment.

    • I'm sure one part of the reasons for him leaving Derek other than being nervous with acting was the fact that he was literally playing the exact same relationship with Ricky he has in real life except on national television. Like when Derek tackled Dougie and just sat on him, Ricky does that in real life to Karl or when Derek got on Dougies nerves, Ricky does that in real life consistently etc so it was like Ricky was once again paying Karl to be a clown for him to mess about with so I'd guess Karl wanted to just go off on his own for a bit back to Moaning of Life where he at least had a bit of a say in what he could do.
