  • This video had the best collection of boats running the inlet I have seen on any video. Loved seeing all of those RIB/RHI/RBI type boats along with an Axopar, those law enforcement SAFE boats and all the "battlewagon" fishing boats. No ignorant people in overloaded Bayliner bowriders. There was one helluva sea swell rolling in. I liked seeing a video shot from this location. It's much more interesting than always seeing the videos shot from the south side of the inlet.

It's still the Captain that MUST MAKE SENSEABLE CHOICES. SOMETIMES that means NOT GOING OUT. I am in New Zealand and some very rough seas, oftentimes have made the call to stay safe on THE LAND.

    • You need the right tools to do the job in bad conditions. Police cruisers are not cheap, EMT and rescue vehicles are not cheap, fire trucks are not cheap, ambulances are not cheap. Rescue and patrol boats are built for rough conditions. They are not toys, they are tough boats constructed to a standard and are not cheap.

    • @@derjaeger3321 90% of all rescues at Haulover are done by jet skis. If you’ll pay attention you will find that the EMT, POLICE & FIRE rescue boats almost ALWAYs show up after the event is under control! That 911 Government programming really did a number on some of you folks. That’s why we are taxed to death to pay for these mammoth first responder budgets. Oh well

      @GeorgeBonez@GeorgeBonez2 жыл бұрын
    • @@GeorgeBonez First responders are called that for a purpose. They arrive on the scene are trained to take the situation in hand. Your neighbor may have a garden hose but he most likely not extinguish your house fire at 3 AM, nor will he don a SCBA and go to the third floor to initiate a rescue. When you throw a blood clot the EMT will arrive on scene and will know what to do and most likely assist in saving your life. The jet skis may do minor rescues, after all they are always around, and good for them but there is more to it than that. Keeping drunks off the water, enforcing environmental, speed and safety regulations, nabbing smugglers, responding to a sinking vessel in horrible conditions and simply being see is all part of the job. And it ain’t free. Could it be done more efficiently??? …. perhaps. But remember, in a democracy, politics, turf wars, inter-jurisdictional spats, unions and public perceptions are always involved - everyone has a say.
