I love this part of the movie Thief With James Caan. Where the cops pick him up and give him a beating so they will cut him in on the score he got going down!

One of the most underrated movies of all time.
Two of the best Michael Mann films are extremely underrated. This film and Manhunter.
So many kickass lines in this movie........ "I will neva eva take a pinch from a greasy mutha fuc### like you" !!
great movie, great scene....."you can take a trimmin". love that line
He was. Chuck Adamson was a Chicago PD officer for many years. That's why Michael Mann hired him.
Yeah, some cops call it a 'tuning' depending on what state you are in.
What an awesome scene!! It's arguably one of the best scenes in the whole movie. Love it. Great acting. Great directing. The best line: "Did it ever occur to you to try to work for a living, take down your own scores?" F**king brilliant. What a bad ass.
One of many excellent scenes in Thief. I remember taking a date to see this back in 81, good movie, good date.
Did it ever occur to you to try to work for a living, to take down your own scores? Implying that the work they did as cops was beneath the work of a criminal. What an insult.
They’re trying to extort James Caan’s character. They know he’s a thief and they want to tax him. They’re cops but they’re crooked cops. So he’s telling them to go out and rob their own safes.
I'd hunt down those pigs!
@@charleswilson7371 He probably did after he cut his old lady loose and did Leo and his crew. What else did he have to lose at that point?
I would absolutely agree they were beneath him, he is a crook but they are parasites and hypocrites; they should be stopping guys like Frank not trying to cut deals with them and then act indignant when they are denied a piece of dirty money; they are way worse than him.
@@Sealdeam Exactly. He's a criminal, blunt and to the point, and ruthless when he has to be....but he has a code....they do not.
"have you guys ever thought of working for a living?"
"You got somethin' to say, or are you waitin for me to ask ya to dance?"
Chuck Adamson Real cop in the scene with a real Burglar John Santuci. What casting. Real-cops and Real Bad Guys.
This whole movie hit the bull’s eye! The characterizations, the tension, the dialogue… James Caan was perfect in this crime drama. This movie was made by Michael Mann, and it presaged Heat.
Best examples of true Chicago accents.😂
That’s the real Chgo Police.. RIP Chuck A.
Yep!
"And that is that last place you'll wanna be. Cause no matter what happens; I'll Never - EVER! ... take a pinch from a Greasy MUDDA FUCKA LIKA-U!!! You tell em'...
YEA!!!
That sustained chord from Tangerine Dream playing while they beat Frank up...
I've seen this movie at least 10 times. You're a real stand-up guy.
Can you give me the link where I can watch this movie?
@@stardust0075 I have this movie on VHS. I'm sure you can buy it on DVD.
@@sunking2001 DVD? Blu-ray, Criterion Collection, remastered, extra scenes. Released Dec, 2015.
Saw this movie when it came out. Bad Ass Movie! James Caan, Tuesday Weld, Jim Belushi!
YOU GOTTA BE A GOOF
Ey, ya know?
heavyweight film....
Si,,,, Super Heavyweight, like all-time greatest.
On dat day, I'm gonna be in dat place!
mm hmm!
Love how Mann equates cops with criminals in this movie, just two different sides of the same coin. The mob beats him up, kills his friend and insists on taking pieces of his action. Cops beat him up, insist on taking pieces of his action. Just like Heat, only the cops in that movie were legit. Still Mann, managed to make them come off as just another crew, only with badges and a different set of rules.
It's a way more accurate portrayal of how the police actually are, compared to the cops in Heat
2:04 - Chuck Adamson. The real-life 'Vincent Hanna'.
This reminds me of that Lieutenant with New Jersey state police drug task force who would confiscate items, sell them or keep them. And his team turned a blind eye to it for over 6 years. Folks, this stuff just don’t happen in the movies. The bigger the city the bigger the corruption
Music by Tangerine Dream ...
One of their best movie scores.
james cann great in theif
"You're pinched, jagoff!"
Oh, the irony! John Santucci (Urizzi) was a professional crook, here playing a police officer. Among the police officers in this scene were two real police: the guy who likes Frank, and the guy in the black suit. According to James Caan and director Michael Mann, the real-life crooks and police involved in the film had a good time trading stories.
Later on he was great in "Crime Story" along with Dennis Farina who was also in this movie.
Total trash!!
And Dennis Farina was a cop at the time and played one of the mobsters
Cool facts.
Farina and Santucci were also in Miami Vice together.
The cop in Caans face was a real convicted thief who worked as a consultant on the film, he developed a small acting career through the 1980s but eventually went back to crime
GREAT FILM BEST SOUNDTRACK EVER!!
One of Tangerine Dream's best along with "Risky Business"!!
Chicago's Finest
They were fucking with Frank La La. bad idea.
Great movie
AND ON DAT DAY I'M GONNA BE IN DAT PLACE.
@PUCKFLORIDA1 yeah, they don't make them like that anymore
you gotta be a goof
sgt urizi was on an episode of miami vice
James Mauzy a few actually, including one with Dennis Farina
James Mauzy He also played Paulie Taglia in Crime Story. It was on for two years. He was in all of the episodes.
He was the technical advisor for the film; he was an actual thief in real life. Unfortunately he went back to crime, got busted again, died in 2002. Look up John Santucci.
and one of the leads in Crime Story
@@fatbuddy719 just recall him on 1 episode
1:58 🤣
ON DAT DAY I'M GONNA BE IN DAT PLACE!!!!!!!!!!
Trust him to say that.
"...............so they will cut him in on the score he got going down! lol
I didn't know John burge worked the north side.
