These two tanks will give Butters the axolotl two completely different environments to explore. Axolotls have a ton of sensory receptors. I have a history of creating stimulating environments for my axolotls, like this axolotl agility course and this awesome foam cave I made for Lucy, my other axolotl. You can really notice axolotls are happier when they have more to explore!

  • I honestly think that butters mind was blown away once he figured out that there were 2 parts. Prob his thoughts getting worm after he explored the first part: “Aww this is cool, wait, I smell worm. Yum, wait…. Another home???     • @@dianapartney9316 yes you are absolutely right and this is so important before anybody gets any type of animal whatsoever. Axolotls are a lot to take care of which I'm sure that's why you told them they need to research on how to take care of them... I had personally got in a red-eared slider I bought two of them off the side of the road at this stand where these guys were selling them. We were told that they didn't need much to stay alive and be happy well once I started posting them all over my social media. THEY WERE SOOOO WRONG!! My babies needed a bigger tank they needed a lot more than we were able to provide for them, I love them with all of my heart so I had to give them away to some friends who were able to properly take care of them. And now I will never ever ever get another animal without researching on how to properly take care of them. Animals are innocent and they don't know how to ask for help so we have to be the ones that properly take care of them and it hurts my heart to know their animals not being properly taken care of..

    • If she really cared about your animals, she would do a better job of informing herself. The black substrate contains iron and poisons it if it swallows the substrate while eating. Also wood is unsuitable for an axolotl aquarium, as this increases the risk of an infection called Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd). Accordingly, neither one side of the aquarium nor the other is suitable.

  • This turned out great! Butters looks so happy!! I have an axolotl myself named Squishy and I'm hoping one day to get her a brand new tank. Right now she's in a ten gallon bare-bottom, as she is still very small and I wanted to upgrade her from her tub.   • 4:21 It would have worked with one filter. Using a canister filter would have allowed you to place the intake and outtake tubes on opposite sides of that tank, thus allowing water to flow from one side to the other through the tunnel. ;-)

    • African wild dog is a separate canine species much like a dingo or fox. Nothing like the domestic dog. Whereas with axolotl they are the same wild or domestic.
