I came to this channel from a review of Skypad. It's so nice to watch both videos and see the increase in quality. We can say that 4.0 is the correct 3.0, the same can be said about you, Log, you started reviewing very correctly, you started making very cool videos, there are no such mistakes as there were before. Awesome video! You really covered everything there is to cover, truly appreciate it. Wonder if there might be an inconsistency issue during the polishing phase, though, since people are saying widely different things in terms of speed compared to the 3.0 🤔

I think the 4.0 came out really great, I only wished to be like fast with stopping power like when you you a control pad, but not that slow, but so far it looks like a great product, even tho I perform better on slow controled pads, also the sleeve looks so nice. Great review Log!

Good review. They could've rebranded into Skyglide and named their products skysleeve, skydots etc, and keep the original skypad name just for the pad. Would've sounded better and made more sense imho.

Do these pads have a textured surface for speed? Or do they have a smooth, matte, eggshell surface?
What's your thoughts on switching from 3.0 to the 4.0? I have mine for only 3 months, idk if it is worth it, it's really expensive in my country. Awesome review as always my man, keep it up!
Hey Eduardo, if you have no issue with the 3.0, there is no measurable performance increase the 4.0 will give you that is worth the financial hardship. Maybe just keep an eye on the market and get one second hand at a later date

I think the 4.0 will definitely be the next glass pad I try. I've been thinking of getting the 3.0 for a bit, but the flex that I've seen people talk about on it kinda scared me off. I'm happy to see the 4.0 doesn't have the flex. Where would you put the Pulsar Superglide on the rug in terms of control vs speed? I wish their shipping to the US wasn't as expensive. I might wait until they start selling it on amazon.
I'd probably put the Superglide between the Padsmiths and the SkyPAD 3.0. Although I haven't had my Superglide for a long time so I may just be remembering it wrong! I hope you enjoy the Wallhack pad 😁
i am currently maining the artisan raiden and am really liking the more raw aiming experience because i mainly play apex. with that being said the static friction still doesnt seem to be fast enough for my liking. would you recommend a glass pad after that ?
The friction difference between a fast cloth pad and a glass pad isn't a big deal imo. Yes, glass is faster but glass feels completely different than cloth. The mouse does not sink in to the pad at all and if you wear a sleve your arm and hand have almost no resistance on the pad. These can be a good or bad thing depending on your preferences and are much bigger factor than the speed.
I agree with this 100%, its also a big change playing on a solid surface. I would say it is worth trying a glass pad, you just need to try and work out what pad to try!
I started fps gaming on a skypad 3.0. Been the only mouse pad I’ve ever used and I dont see myself going back. I mainly play val and csgo. I am looking for a more controlled experience when using the skypad 3.0. What skates do you recommend for more stopping power? Using a logitech g903 for reference
Hey Jeremy, I have a video going over some dot options. kzhead.info/sun/abWDd8-mjoShoY0/bejne.html I personally prefer to use the cyclones over the Obsidian Pros, but Obsidian Pros may be a good fit for you, having seen what you're after. If you can afford testing both, I'd recommend it. They're both a nice experience on the SkyPAD 3.0
All the hype surrounding the SP-004 made me decide to buy it, and I had a few people tell me that the Obsidian Pros were pretty mediocre on other glass pads, but work very well on the SP-004 in terms of glide AND noise. How do the Edgerunner Cyclones compare in terms of noise levels, given I have seen a comment here and there they are supposedly even more silent than the Pros. Would you mind telling me how the noise levels are compared to the Obsidians and Obsidian Pros?
Hey Vorkot! The cyclones are my favourite glass dot, because they somehow maintain the sound profile of a softer dot (practically silent) while actually being hardened ptfe (so more durable). I find the obsidians to be louder than the cyclones and obs pros to be a bit louder than the standard obsidians (but ill need to double check that). Sorry i didnt get back to you sooner man, let me double check these claims in the AM, but id consider a pack of cyclones a worthy investment to anyone in the enthusiast space. How are you liking the cyclones vs. obsidian pros on it?
I personally prefer the cyclones, but the wallhack dots are a solid option to choose if you think you'll struggling with the speed.
@@LogPileGaming Thanks! After watching your review on them, I bought some cyclones for my 2.0 and I love how smooth they made the 2.0 feel after a few weeks of breaking in. At first they had really high static friction which bothered me a lot during mouse direction changes If the 4.0 really is that much smoother and faster though, maybe it's a good idea to 180 my approach and use slower skates instead :)

Honestly good on them for rebranding, one of the reasons i went for the superglide instead of a skypad was the ugly logo they had
it's funny isn't it, the stuff that influences our purchase decisions. I bought the skypad 3.0 with the text "Skypad" logo, I really liled the SkyPAD brand, but it does make a lot of sense to rebrand at this point.
Back when i bought mine the superglide was the same price or even a tiny bit cheaper. From all the reviews i watched they seemed very comparable and if we are really honest with our selves this is a very silly purchase so it should at least give me some joy when i look at it :) now if only pulsar would get around to releasing a travel case for it, i am already dreading having to move with this thing even though i kept the original packaging @@LogPileGaming
@MetalXMind You're 100% right, it is a bit of an indulgence (I bought so many too!!). I loved the aesthetic of the superglide, I just didn't like the surface itself (my personal preference). I think a lot of pad companies will follow suit now, thats usually what happens 😅 I know TJX are (or were) developing a glass pad carry case. Maybe worth reachong out

I feel investing in a hard surface is time well spent, they never change in consistency and even if one brand goes under the differences shouldnt be huge. The younger you are the easier it will be to get used to and then forget about. Ive spent years with hard surfaces before skypad, and the pad is just not something I think about anymore. Its just my hand, the mouse and my ability to be coordinated in a faux 3d environment.

I would say the GSR2 is a contender for my main pad (cloth), but I do plan to try the TJX products again very soon, I mained the Kin for about 6 months last year and loved it. I prefer higher friction experiences, because it helps with my average (at best) aim mechanics. What do you use?
@@LogPileGamingthanks for the fast reply. Ive had the same mousepad for a long time and can't remember what it is other than that its a corsair brand cloth mousepad. I'm only really now wanting to put more effort into my gaming and one of my issues is the reaction and accuracy. This is a very resistent cloth and i'm using Logitech G502 x which is generally very heavy and seems to take quite a bit of force to click the front buttons. My first thought was to get a hard pad to compansate but now I'm thinking the weight of it may be a detriment to my aim in stopping accuracy and now thinking a light speed mouse would be good to use while I'm gaming. I want to continue to use the G502x for everything other than gaming as i constantly use the infinite scroll wheel and find the mouse really comfortable to use. I originally got it with the mind of using the sniper button as my discord chat button and it works really well for that use. I struggling to find an alternative that can be pressed while in an active battle without spoiling my aim or movement. I think i'm going to have to try using capslock or maybe V if not being used already. I play Rainbow 6 Siege.

Absolutely not. They're the same price in the UK. The Atlas is pretty great to be honest with you.

@@LogPileGaming Last question, do you think a glass mousepad is a good idea to use with a lightweight mouse such as the Finalmouse UltralightX for tactical shooters and some heve tracking games such as the finals.
@Swistak65 if you are a talented aimer or want to test yourself, absolutely go for it. I fell in love with hard pads for about a year, and still use them often. I can recommend them if you can afford it. Tac fps will be hard tho, depending on your skill level. Tracking games is where glass shines.
Do you know how much it will be going for?
As far as I'm aware the price hasn't been confirmed, but it's rumoured to be about the same as the launch price of the 3.0, so about $120

I understand rebranding the company as wallhack, but calling it the sp-004 is certifiably just a bad decision. Ofc sp stands for skypad, but this is like twitter getting changed to X, nobodys calling it X, and nobodys gonna call the skypad 4.0 the sp-004, and that does remove some of the recognizability of their product, for no reason other than to change and "diversify"

I prefer a bit of roughness, too. I'm on the 3.0 but I intentionally use mouse feet that give some feedback. With smooth feet I aim worse so even more smoothness doesn't sound like an improvement to me.

Kinda a miss for me. Sounds like something a 11 ur old would ask for on Christmas… “wall hack” hahahahaha People who like the 3.0 will def enjoy these improvements, though. I would only use this pad for anything other than tracking with slower skates, just my preference. IMO, this isn’t very innovative padsmith has been making very smooth pads with different speed options and they actually communicate with you ahead of time/not send these out to the Japanese first. Lmao
it's definitely an interesting choice for the brand name! I'm sure it'll grow on us over time. I love the striker series from padsmiths, the dark chaos is my favourite design on a glass pad!
