Skyrim is known for its incredible modding community. Each day dozens of new mods are uploaded to The Elder Scrolls 5’s Nexus page for both Skyrim Special Edition and Legendary edition. While every mod is impressive, a few stand out as especially ambitious in their scale and scope, often times rivalling official game DLC content by Bethesda. It’s these expansion sized mods I wanted to focus in on today as they provide Skyrim players with hundreds, perhaps even thousands of additional hours’ worth of play time. So sit back and enjoy as we explore five of the largest mods ever created for The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

  • There's too many for one video IMO! My top 10 DLC mods and a few thoughts 1. Vigilant (just hands down the best, get the HD texture pack for it and lose yourself for a good 40 hours) 2. Legacy of the dragonborn (you'll get a good 100hrs from hunting all the relics and doing all the quests, of which there are several quest lines. Awesome new items and functionality too) 3. Beyond Skyrim: Bruma (no explanation necessary here) 4. Forgotten City (All points covered by Nate!) 5. Wyrmstooth (you can still find online if you look hard enough, though you will have to perform a manual install yourself) 6. The grey cowl of nocturnal (the music alone!) 7. Falskaar (impressive, though special edition has minor bugs at least with my experience) 8. Nyhus/Haafstad/Folkstead (adds part of Hammerfell, High Rock and the island of Kirkmore to the main skyrim landmass) Edit - be careful as this can cause stability issues. 9. Project AHO (looks and plays great, though if enabled getting the prompt every 12 in game hours when trying to finish other stuff gets annoying) 10. Voyage to the Dreamborne isles (you'll know this if you're a hardcore player, maybe I should rank higher come to think of it!) Not played: Glenmoril (does this fable even exist?) Clockwork (never heard of it other than it exists) The shire (conflicts with my other mods, cannot enable without frequent CTD) Maids II: Deception (never heard of it, someone tell me more!) Enderal (do I need a fresh install to play? Really want to give this a go) Honorable Mentions: Blackreach Railroad Valley of Outcasts Darkend Unslaad Sulfur and Fire (sequel to Mehrunes Dagon quest) Not recommended: Beyond Reach (amazing ambition and premise, execution and presentation not so good) Shadows of Dragonstar (old and buggy) Orsinium (landmass great but nothing else) Blackland (good fun but a bit too basic) Anything with Rigmor in it. Seriously. EDIT: Wheels of Lull, how could I forget!!

I went into work the next day with little to no sleep and all I was thinking about was skyrim. I got all my co-workers and boss into it lol and for the next 3 months we talked skyrim at work all the time! and here I am still lost into the world with ALL these amazing mods I still haven't played! I can't wait to create yet another character and get lost again in 2020! love this series!

  • I'm currently doing a Legacy of the Dragonborn playthrough for the first time and it seriously has to be one of the best implemented mods ever. It's an incredibly large mod that still seems to just slot so perfectly into the existing game. While most dlc sized mods seem to take place in their own world space.

    @Noobie2k7@Noobie2k74 жыл бұрын
  • I've played Moonpath, Forbidden City, Bruma, Falskaar, Grey Cowl (all excellent, especially Forbidden City and Grey Cowl), and in terms of size only, Vigilant (which just finished) felt like the biggest while Moonpath felt relatively small, so I guess surprised that a 'biggest/largest' list didn't include Vigilant.

  • I personally found Moonpath to Elsweyr to be absolute dogshit. Like, really jank. NPCs didn’t path through it well at all, quests were jank, terrain was crude and often broken, the way the map worked was obnoxious, etc. I genuinely don’t think it deserves all the praise it gets. There were some aspects I liked, but not enough to balance it.

    @Benzy670@Benzy6704 жыл бұрын
    • By current standards, I agree. But keep in mind how early the mod came out. I hear someone’s redoing the mod and that the Beyond Skyrim team is “taking it under their wing,” which I’d assume means they plan on incorporating it into their Elsweyr mod. So that should be interesting.

Dragonborn, Bruma, Moonpath, Mask of Nocturnal just make me want to play the game more and more, despite the fact that I've already played it numerous times already. I look forward to seeing more. TES VI may be on its way, but it's gonna have to be AMAZING, and it's modding scene even moreso, to make us forget about Skyrim.

Still worthwhile, even if you want to just have a look around and enjoy the landscape. But the story is awesome, too, can´t wait for the next one :D And since you mentioned Vigilant at the end, could you maybe make more videos about ongoing projects? I´ve seen that the creator of Vigilant has two more mods, Unslaad and Glenmoril, but I´ve seen no mentions of them in any modlist vids I´ve watched so far. Seems a shame as Vigilant is and prbly will forever be the best questmod for Skyrim

I used to get uniques and compare them to my equipment and then turn around and sell most of them. Not anymore. It belongs in a museum. Also legacy will adapt itself to some of your other mods allowing you to store new weapon mods into the museum.
