Detailed update on low moving into NZ + Pacific Islands update
Westland is in for a deluge, so too possibly the surrounding areas including Nelson and Takaka. But for many other places the incoming wet weather will be welcome after a very dry start to 2024.
Sub-tropical or mild northerlies will continue to blow through - becoming windiest on Thursday.
By Friday the low moves into the West Coast and falls apart - with a west to south west change for NZ on Saturday, then high pressure on Sunday.
We break down the rain for Westland in as much detail as we can - and show a rainfall map for NZ through until this Sunday. Keep up to date with MetService official warnings and watches.
Finally, the last part of the video (as we do every Tuesday now) is dedicated to the South Pacific islands - a quick animation of the next 7 days ahead and a 7 day rainfall animation to make sense of all those messy daily showers.
Who else wishes the weather forecasts on TV were explained this clearly and logically? As well as Phillip Duncan's most excellent and efficient hand gestures not the 'what the heck does that mean' hand flourishes on TV.
Me 😊
I just like them to be at least 50% accurate
I haven't watched mainstream TV in years.. Its all B... S..t
Thank you for your stern work. Take care.
As always fascinating.
Keep up the good mahi Phil & team
Cheers Phil , will get the lawns done again tomorrow.

Yep same here mate
It's EXTREMELY dry in North Canterbury!
nice explanation of the created weather ahead of us all.
Hope we will be getting rain in Auckland tomorrow. My garden wants rain. First comment.
I reckon , I've had stuff die this year that has gone without watering for the last 4 years
Likewise around the top of the South driest summer since 2001! Native bush/ ferns have been dying out in native forests 👎🏼
Hi, thank you fro your update. Cheers
Thank you!
Thanks for another great update. Live your maps!!! 😊
Thank you for all your great work. Looking forward to my tank getting filled this weekend
going to be some serious swell coming from that big low.
Today partly cloudy Eastern Bay,Phil weather watch tv good night.
Thanks for the update mate!
Many thanks Phil 👍🏼 Were voting for you to replace these Niwa climate change drones on TVNZ. Well done with your true weather observations 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
It was at that moment "Niwa climate change drones" I knew you were an idiot.
They could all be looking for Jobs soon [if you can believe what you hear on TV anyway]!
@@kevinsadler7952 Too right. Don't need World Economic Forum puppet drone USA idiots lying to the people. Did you know Niwa doesn't release historical weather data. All collected and paid for by us tax payers. If there was access to this information it would make these idiots look very stupid. Noting any Christian goin' on about climate change has lost their way... Remember Noahs Arch ...it's all happened before 😂
Getting the rises in the costs of living today. Both NZ and Australia decided not to escalate the war against weather.
Buedy phil 👍
Amazing northern winds all the way from Solomon islands . Enjoying the warm temperatures in Auckland
Good job mate! I appreciate your effort
Good clear Kiwi reports
Your map explains why my cruise ship has been battling a strong easterly bound for Tahiti for the past five days.
Yes! Happy travels ! :)
Have been enjoying the warmth down here in Southland, but it’s gonna get wet
Manawatu we never get I mention and we are in desperate need for rain too😊
I try to remember all the regions but it's easy to forget the ones next to the bigger regions (like Wellington and Auckland etc). Thanks for the local update
Next update 10/4/24
"Pretty big rain warnings for the West Coast"... That is all it does there...
🙏🙏🙏
Looks like the worst maybe over fingers crossed by Friday when the gates open for Agfest Phil? You making the pilgrimage down again for some sunshine on the coast?
Sadly I won't be there this year - but hopefully that weather eases Friday and clears properly Saturday :)
Thank you Phil and the WeatherWatch team 😊
would you call this a stationary front?
Sort of but not really - it is moving it's just Westland is getting it whether it moves north or south
shot uncle phil. i never watch any other weather but urs bro chur
Haha thanks! :)
The accuracy of recent forecasts has been awful. As I sit typing this, the WW page claims 2% chance of rain with just 70% cloud cover. It's raining quite steadily. The same was the case on Friday -- not so good when you've arranged having your roof replaced based on a forecast of no rain until Wednesday 😞 I might go back to using the rock on a string hanging from our apple tree 🙂 as a forecasting tool. Clearly, the weather is quite *un*predictable right now.
There's always plenty of rain in Autumn. Try TVNZ and the Niwa climate change drones 😅
@@Ezpize626 Yeah, pretty hard to get contractors to do the job during the "peak" of the season and besides, roofing must be diabilically hot work in mid-summer.
Find someone more accurate then :)
@@WeatherWatchTV Phil I'm very unsure this is possible 😂 Those World Economic Forum climate change Niwa freaks are slowly getting layed off 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 I love how they appear on the weather to falsely tell the public that the weather is so unpredictable they can't be held responsible.... The funding they get for what misinformation 🤦🏼 Just like Australian Bureau of meteorology.... Telling farmers droughts coming... Farmers sold stock . This was an anti farming agenda it take many many years to build stock levels up 👎🏼 Noting any Christian believing in climate change has completely lost their way 👎🏼 Remember Noahs Arch! It's happened before and it shall happen again to clear this plant of filth 👍🏼
Reading weather maps I would say any one living west coast South Island needs to keep an eye on the rain. An ince or more per hour coming down right now on the west hill slopes and up on the high ridges, An Inch an hour is a foot per half day and you can imaging just how much that will swell those mountain rivers and fill yp hundreds of steep narrow gorges. Mud and rock may also be brought down. Luckily the Island is relativly narrow and so the water won't be long before reaching the sea. It is also going to be coming down on the eastern side. Just saying. Tell me if I am totally wrong and that a foot of water per 12 hours is just nothing to keep alert of.
Still not looking good for the Wairarapa. Bottoms
Why isn't this guy on TV
:)
