"Days of Future Past" is almost here, featuring every X-Man ever. We decided to look back at the original X-Men trilogy, which spawned two great movies and one that should have been optic-blasted into oblivion.

  • The Jean Grey love triangle was the most forced element in the movie. Wolverine goes from casual flirting in the first movie (mostly to irritate Cyclopes), but returns to the mansion in the second movie visibly pining after this woman he barely knows. Take note, he was gone from the end of the first movie until the beginning of the second movie. There was no room for off-screen character development whatsoever. Wolverine should've just boned Mystique.

    • Brian Thomson Nightcrawler is okay, but Prof X, Storm, Mr. Sinister, Cable, Bishop, and Rogue blow them away in terms of underrated... And I know they used Prof X more in the movies, but he was underrated in the comics and Rogue may seem strong but the ability to have the powers of all mutants at once but never using it is still underrated, even if she is sorta super girl atm.

  • 1:51 - In most iterations, that IS Rogue's power. She gets her super strength and flight because she held onto Miss Marvel too long, and ended up accidentally absorbing those powers permanently.

    @SerathDarklands@SerathDarklands7 жыл бұрын
    • A lot of people "correcting" them on this, but they never implied that's not the case. Just that it's interesting / maybe disappointing they chose to portray a version of Rogue who hadn't absorbed the Miss Marvel powers yet. Kinda like Magneto's "when will these people learn how to fly" line :)

  • Man this is so true. Everyone likes superheroes yet they think mutants are a disease lol. What gives?

    @Mcseban@Mcseban9 жыл бұрын
    • Mostly it's because most of the heroes that people liked were actually Mutates (normal people that got their powers from an accident or something. FF and Spiderman are examples of that) and they help people and are known for that. Mutants are born with their abilities and have consistently proven to be a danger to people by doing tons of property damage and injuring or killing a shit-ton of people and that's just by accident nevermind the ones that do it on purpose. Only a handful of them actually protect anyone. Also they never see how dangerous they are to normal people, you know the ones that can't take an Eye Beam to the chest and get right back up.

      @Violent_Wolfen@Violent_Wolfen9 жыл бұрын
    • animeasskicker Not really.... The public were never aware or told that Peter Parker, Spiderman was bitten by a special spider.... for all they know he could be a mutant. Really they are clueless about him or who he is, but the public do know that Doctor Octopus was a science accident not a mutant. The Red Skull the result of a experiment same as Captain A...... & Doctor Doom was an accident same as F4. So the powers from accidents are just as dangerous as mutants really as far a the public know. but I can see what you mean by the actions of the characters F4 & Spiderman saving people & showing they are all for helping normal humans (not a threat) But most mutants causing trouble because lots of them lack control & stability of there own powers,..... I think deep down (if mutants were real) lots of normal people really would fear mutants because the power they have would make normal humans feel..... Powerless, Vulnerable, Scared, Obsolete, & some even Jealous of being Left Behind.

    • To paraphrase the movies: "Mankind fears what it does not understand."

      @necro6848@necro68489 жыл бұрын
    • NecroGamer1 I never agreed with that statement in X-Men usually because I saw more examples of mankind understanding the danger and mutants never factoring that in. However, the saying is more used when involving feelings.

    • Not really if you watched it it's not just about Wolverine.

      @adrianflores2505@adrianflores25058 жыл бұрын
    • +Adrian Flores i have watched all the movies, so lets break it down. the plot of the first two movies is heavily based on what wolverine does, the third movie jean gray kills everyone who challenged her but wolverine. you then have the two wolverine spinoffs. then you have days of future past where we once again follow wolverine around while he does stuff. first class is the closest to being an X-Men movie, in my opinion at least.

      @dematar@dematar8 жыл бұрын
    • +robert kabus That's rough summary rather than breaking down. If you look closer you'll see it's not as much wolverine as you'd think. Maybe except those two wolverine spinoffs. The first movie was an introduction, that's why it was told from perspective of Wolverine who didn't know about mutant school and was new to X-men who were already working for some time. The actual conflict was between Professor and Magneto, with Rogue as living plot device and Wolverine as red herring. For most of the movie actual Wolverine's action included, kicking ass of few randoms getting his ass kicked by Sabretooth and being saved by X-men, getting his ass kicked by Magneto and being unable to save Rogue. Only in liberty Island he had finally chance to kick ass and face it, rest of the team had their share of asskicking as well. In X2, which i personally consider the best X-men movie so far btw, the school attack was OWNED by wolverine, but other than that he once again had very little to do for most of the movie. Nightcrawler's attack on the president, X-men hunting Nightcrawler, breaking out Magneto, none of this had anything to do with Wolverine. After the school attack the Drake's house scene was Iceman's scene, Wolverine was pretty much furniture, and the battle against cops was fought by Pyro, Wolverine wasn't even concious. Then plane scene, Wolverine was just a passanger, Infiltration of Stryker's base was done by Mystique, it was Magneto who stoped Stryker, Storm and Nightcrawler saved Professor, and Jean saved them all. Sure Logan had cool duel with Lady Deathstrike but Jean had also cool one with Cyclops. There was small Wolverine-stryker subplot but that was just a subplot. I don't see how can this be seen as Wolverine movie, when everyone had their fair share of asskicking and daysaving. Last Stand maybe had more Wolverine than nessecary but there is a reason why this one is considered one of the worst movies in the series. Others had less than fair share of asskicking, but that's just one movie and not even that good. In First Clas Wolverine had few seconds of screentime, and one line of dialogue. Cool but that's it. In Days of Future Past it certainly seems like Wolverine is the main character, because he's the one sent back in time, but let's take a closer look. In Future part he's unconcious most of the time and when he isn't he's not even there when all the action takes place. In the past he's mostly there to kickstart the plot, by giving Professor and Beast informations from the future, and then letting professor talk with his future self. Breaking out magneto scene was owned by quicksilver, and later while he was there others did most of the job. To be honest i cannot think of one ass kicked by Wolverine except these random dudes right after he woke up. So it isn't as Wolverine as you may think.

Granted, she was also still her original evil self and working for Mystique at the time and didn't even become a good guy until she used her powers on Rom the Space Knight, a licensed toy character Marvel had incorporated into their universe, and his own goodness influenced her.

    @IsabellePinamena@IsabellePinamena8 жыл бұрын
    • +Isabelle Pinkamena True, but X-Men evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men proves that Rouge don´t need have Ms Marvels powers to not be underpowered. In there, she can use the strength absorbed from normal people to run faster or jump higher, or even absorb their skills. She can also keep the powers she absorbed from mutants for a couple of minutes and even carry many powers at the same time. Here, she can only keep them for less than thirty seconds. They could have made her energy absorption an actual power instead of just a handicap.

And JubiLee too. Rogue basically was given her role instead. And I know they went with the Ultimate suits and joked about the yellow Wolverine suit. But c'mon, have him fight in it at least once. I mean the 90s show was what made this movie possible. So throw those fans a bone and give us yellow Wolverine, Gambit, and Jubilee. Maybe even Morph, even if he's killed in 5 minutes

      @viperswhip@viperswhip7 жыл бұрын
    • of course, personality. Jubilee is the teenager Wolverine's protege, her role is basically to stick around him and have a crush on him, while Rogue is an adult and quite kick-ass woman. In the film we have basically Jubilee with Rogue's power and no Gambit (who should have a thing with Rogue)

      @loiracitr@loiracitr7 жыл бұрын
    • loiracitr Yeah Rogue was more like JubiLee. They still didn't make her fly or have super strength though. They could've just introduced her already with that stuff and skip the origin. Instead all Rogue did was suck powers away for like one movie, because it feels like they did nothing with her the other two.
