Anthony Hopkins acting is amazing. The mannerisms he shows as Loki is just perfection
Exactly, such a legend ! The opening scene itself, when Thor shares a smile at him, he says, "oh shit" the way Loki would've said 😁
I loved the nervous leaning against a pillar 😂😂
Exactly what I was thinking 😂.. little things like that make good actors
It's like so good right? That old guy should've 2 Oscar by now
Dude don’t be stupid. This scene just show you that it was Loki pretended to be Odin the whole time. So that’s mean this scene was played by Tom Hiddleston, not Anthony Hopkins.
I love that Loki is willing to go to such extreme's to try and be a ruler throughout the MCU but ultimately when he's in charge he just wants to sit and chill lol
that's what he got in the end lol
Well, he said he never wanted the throne
@@mappingouttheskyHe did actually, multiple times
I love how the crowd isn't even shocked, the reaction is just like "Goddamnit Loki🙄" 😅😅
They were shocked. They were quietly shocked.
If you look at what's Loki done to other gods, you start to understand that this was just a Tuesday.
@@knightoftheone3420 But he did it for 4 f*cking years
John 3:16-21.
@@bighand1530 no one cares about your religion. Save it for church.
If it was Odin, he would have just reached out his hand and grabbed Mjolnir.
Correct.
Mjolnir is actually Odin's weapon and then he passed it down to Hela, when she was imprisoned it was given to Thor.
That’s why Thor saying “not even your face will stop Mjolnir” is funny because the real Odin’s face can actually stop mjolnir
My first thought too, I'm pretty sure Odin is the only one it prioritizes more than Thor.
That's the point
It's cool that the movie establishes Thor being able to know Loki's deceiving magic.
Illusions
He's been pulling this on his brother since they could walk
It's not cool that these hack fraud so-called filmmakers dismiss an important plot point from a previous movie in such a surface-level, throwaway scene.
He had to be told that wasn't Odin, barely establishing him knowing
Especially after he turned into a snake, tricked him and stabbed him in the stomach. I can never get enough of that story. Such a simple yet amusing story made so much more funnier by Chris's delivery and the other's reactions
"you have one job... Just one.." never get old... 😂😂😂
I just love how Loki cuts him off 😂
The way he said thor tH0R oDINSAN
Was Skurge in on this mass deception
had*
I like how the guards put up their guard when Thor started threatening Odin as if they would be able to stop thor from doing anything
Why do you think they barely tried to stop him, they probably started getting wise to it being Loki when they saw Odin acting afraid of Thor.
Well they tried. It's part of the job package..
TBF they are stronger than most “human” creatures in the realms. And going by the films Asgardian protocol seems to be “Treat powerful asgardians like you do normal ones.” When Loki turned traitor in the 1st movie Heimdall straight up attacked him. Later in the move all the soldiers just squared up with hella even tho she just came from a portal that Loki and Thor entered….without Loki or Thor.
You still have humans pointing guns at Hulk, so same thing really.
The "Ow-ow-ow-ow-ok" gets me every time, lol! Spoken like a true sibling!
yep, can confirm! lmao
Too true😂
A very strong chair to support Loki being pushed back by the immeasurable force of Mjolnir.
2:13
Ah and the guard immediately going from "We have to protect Odin!" to "Ah fuck it's just Loki..."
You can tell Hopkins had a lot of fun being Loki here. He was really in his element with the character. I am just sad it was only about 90 seconds of him being Loki. But as they say in Hollywood no such thing as small parts just small actors. And Anthony Hopkins is certainly not a small actor. The guy is a beast at whatever character he plays.
90 seconds here ,but he killed his role in a later scene where he tells Thor he isn't the God of hammers
Hopkins played Loki playing Odin.
I have always said that this is one of the most impressive acting feats to me. Acting like somebody else is pretending to be you. You have to act completely different than you normally would.
It's always really interesting when you see that. Like in Deathly Hallows, Helena Bonham-Carter watched Emma Watson act out her part to get a feel for her mannerisms before acting it out in her own right, so we got Helena Bonham-Carter pretending to be Emma Watson pretending to be Hermione Granger pretending to be Bellatrix Lestrange.
Anthony Hopkins is actually acting both as Odin and Loki with a little bit of Tom Hiddleston's mannerisms here and there.
I love the “oh shit” part 0:05 😂
I love how the whole time everybody feared Loki becoming the ruler of Asgard but in this scene, he was just chilling, eating grapes, and doing plays which kind of shows what would he do if he were king 😭 Yeah sure, he wasn't doing his part and keeping the peace between the nine realms… but I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose and he thought it would be fine without him for a bit ( and he didn't know how too)….
definitely agree, i laugh every time at this scene
But that is exactly why he shouldn't have been on the throne, he was so self centered that like Thor says "all the nine realms falling into chaos and you Odin all father are sitting around in your bathrobe eating grapes"
Dude, this is the reason they feared him being king, because he was lazy and weak.
0:24 is brief, but it is my favorite Anthony Hopkins moment in the MCU. He is trying to not react (as Odin) but letting the insult sink in so he starts to look offended (as Loki) then trying to keep his cool again.
Anthony Hopkins channeling Tom Hiddleston with that "Oh, shit..." will never fail to make me laugh. 😆
Thor: father Odin: oh sh*t Me: 😃 🤣
Thor probably knew when he saw Loki’s statue
He already knew when he saw that the other 9 realms were in chaos, odin would never allow that
Surtur told him Odin is not in Asgard.
you have to understand how amazing of an actor you must be when you are able to pull of a performance of a different character (one you never acted as before) posing as your character this flawlessly. anthony hopkins never dissapoints!
I love thors “ you really gonna make me do it “ because that implies that Thor has used this trick multiple times to get him to undo his morph lmao 🤣
This scene shows that Loki actually wouldn't be a bad king to the people of Asgard
Looked like a lazy king, he would be bad for the people.
At least not bad as Hela
@@mrgoody69 True.
@@mrgoody69 Rather low bad. People will always prefer a lazy king rather than a king who demands bloodshed and kills on a whim.
My guy if he hadn't found out he was a frost giant, he would have made a FANTASTIC King WAYYYYYY better than either Odin or Thor Or if he'd found out when he was still a child
I sometimes forget this Loki is not the same one in the series.
A shame too imo. There was a lot of opportunity for character growth for this loki in hua series.
This Is The Original Loki In The Mcu
I do like how this scene while comical, also depicts how once he no longer has any remaining trick up his sleeve or able to rely on his illusionary magic (having now been explsoed in public), Loki knows damn well he has no chance against Thor in straight up fight. Hence why he immediately told him where Odin was
Especially with how unprepared he was. No Asgardian armor, no Gungnir (Odin's spear), no Scepter or Tesseract to help him fight Thor like he used to. I also think that at this point Loki doesn't want to fight his family unless really unnecessary. His grudge towards them slowly faded away over the years.
@@Altherot agreed there. I mean, his actions by the end of Thor Ragnarok show he’s not really interested in power, ie control/ruling, anymore (certainly not in terms of the dealing with the responsibilities that come with it as we saw), but rather just enjoying the perks of it (eg merely basking in the “royal life” watching plays, and not carrying out any duties to maintain said power & order). And also of course, again, he knows that once he’s got no tricks or resources to fall back on, he cant match Thor in straight-up combat
from God of Mischief to God of Multiverse
God of stories
He absolutely wouldve wielded that hammer now
That "Oh shit" will never cease to make me giggle
1:46 Sam Neill removing his eye patch😅
It speaks volumes to Hopkins top-tier ability that I never once bought that was actually Odin, but Loki in disguise. Almost like it was Tom Hiddleston and they used special effects to put Hopkins face on him. Truly amazing stuff.
Anthony Hopkins acting as Loki was really spot on!!
To think that Thor can’t be fooled by Loki. Thats hilarious XD
He was fooled at the end of Thor: The Dark World.

Never thought I'd hear Anthony Hopkin says 'Oh Sh*t' in my life, but it was perfect.
The "Oh shit" never gets old 😂
Sam taking the eye patch off 😂
I love how all the Asgardians stopped what they were doing just to look at Loki and be like “WtF dude”
Look at our boy LOKI now ... holding the whole damn multiverse together with his very being.
I love how Loki is always defiant and undermining of Thor's intelligence. But then he becomes completely submissive and defeated when Thor outsmarts him and goes big brother on Loki.
Anthony hopkins going "oh shit" in lokis character ans mannerisms is the greatest small moment in the whole movie
It's crazy to think is Anthony Hopkins pretending to be Tom Hiddleston playing Loki, who is pretending to be Odin 😂 he's such an amazing actor
1:52 You had one job. Just the one!
Still can't believe that's karl urban, Butcher himself from the Boys
You had one job. JuSt ThE oNe!
I find it interesting that "Odin's" guards did not hardly lift a finger to protect him from Thor lol
Likely because they knew two things. They were no match for Thor. And only Odin was.
Because they could tell something was up.
Anthony Hopkins, a well known method actor who mostly played dramatic roles....played this scene immensely perfect....it is well known that being a comedic actor is far more difficult than drama.....he played this amazingly......he's the greatest actor of the past 30 years....no one except Gary Oldman can do as well as he did! God Bless Him
Lmao Odin/Loki’s face when he says “ALRIGHT I YIELD!!” 🤣🤣
About time Thor learned to see past Loki illusions, he always get fooled.
Loki is my favourite mcu character
*When arrive at the location.* Loki: "I swear I left him right here." Thor: "What, we're standing on the sidewalk or the demolished building."
Many could tell how Loki was being that this is not how Odin would never be like
I love the sound of Thor toying with his hammer.
i love how thor knew odin would be able to kick his ass if he tried that
That little “oh shit” cracks me up every time
I love how everyone else just watches the sibling argument
“Loki you old scoundrel; remember two movies ago when you opened a portal on earth to thanos’ armies so they could massacre everyone? Me neither! Let’s act like you’re a normal troublemaker and not a deranged sociopath”
That smile after he’s found out is such a Loki thing to do-
Matt Damon as Loki for a theatre play is actually hilarious
The background characters played the role of Npcs very well 😂
I wished the whole movie was like this, it manages to introduce comedy but at the same time showing Thor taking the situation seriously without assasinating his character, unlike the rest of the movie
I like how even tho Loki showed resentment to Thor and Odin, in his play he didn't make them all pathetic or groveling to him, but instead respected them, because A) that would be a bad rep to Asgard if their own king suddenly showed how weak he is, even in a theatrical play, and B) all he wanted in the end is his father's approval and his brother's love
Thor did love Loki.
Hes the same man, yet his mannerisms can decide the entire tone of the scene. Hopkins is a titan of an actor.
1:48 - Loki be like, "Well, this is awkward."
I really wanted Scourge to say "Well excuse me I can't f***ing fly!"
Odin "oh shit" My SoN ThOr HaS rEtUrNeD
Loki pretended to be a king, his father, and committed high treason? It's a normal Thursday for Asgardians
It's crazy how Asgard has no magical equivalent of a biometric
I love the way he says "ow ow ow okay"😂
I love how Anthony Hopkins played Odin. Real skill there
Matt Damon is such a real one for this
Hearing THE Anthony Hopkins saying "Oh Shit" will always be funny🤣
This scene had some Loki great acting.
I SEE WAT U DID THERE!
The development this character got to this day, makes me somewhat proud
No one seemed really surprised that Loki was pretending to be Odin.🤣🤣🤣
That "Oh shit" was perfect
He said alright I yield 😂😂😂😂
Humorous scene.Great performances!
Anthony Hopkins' acting is on a different level on this scene. Imagine acting as a character who's acting as another character that's acting as the first.
I love how anthony hopkins is better at being loki than loki is being odin.
it’s funny to watch this after watching loki’s tv show, knowing how much he’s changed as a character
Meanwhile, in the void: Variant Loki trying to have a conversation with his crocodile variant 😂😂😂😂😂
"Oh shit!" It was at this moment that he knew! He fucked up!
It's amazing how much hatred the characters have towards each other on screen. Then you realize off screen, the actors who play them are best friends.
What a great film 📽 ❤
I like how the actor thor in this scene still has the same reaction as regular thor makes it better that’s it’s real life hemsworth brothers playing the parts
0:05 😳 *" oh shit!"*
Sam Neil taking the eyepatch out. Brilliant.
Thor knew it wasn’t his father as soon as he walked in.

Just came back here after Loki Season 2. He has the best character development in MCU.
0:33 Foreshadowing at it's finest.
"You had one job..." 😂😂😂😂 1:59
it’s ridiculous how Taika was able to balance Thor’s humor and seriousness in this movie, but then completely drop the ball in Love and Thunder. Like those two Thors are just straight up 2 completely different people. Sure time has passed, but even fat Thor knew when to get serious. Love and Thunder Thor is just a complete moron.
He didn't balance anything. This movie opens with Thor acting like a complete buffoon, talking to skeletons out of boredom and stuff. A complete betrayal of his character from previous movies. Killing off The Warriors Three, forgetting Sif exists, and making Loki, once a despicable villain, into a silly sidekick, were the same kind of awful decisions he did in that other awful movie of his. What about the ending where Asgard explodes and five seconds later the insufferable self-insert of Mr. ''I'll ruin your mythos'' makes a joke out of it? They're virtually the same horrendous cacophony of poorly written plot and terrible humor. If anything, these rare moments of the so-called seriousness (which speaks volumes of how awful Waititi is if characters not being buffoons for two seconds is considered seriousness in his movie) are the exact same problems and contradictions that are in Thor Dumb & Dumber, since, just like here, we see Thor act like a dimwit for most of the movie, but then suddenly he comes across someone as dimwitted as himself and he tries to be the straight man in the siutation (like how in Dumb & Dumber he was acting like a clown for the entire movie, but then when Zeus appears and does the same, he suddenly finds it annoying). So he didn't drop the ball in Thor Dumb and Dumber. He merely reassured all your MCU fanboys about what his Thor movies were always about: dumb awful comedy, not Thor.
@@antona.1327Yeah Ragnarok is filled with a lot of comedy, but just boiling the movie down to that ignores a lot of scenes in it. Was Odin's death supposed to be funny? Was Hela slaughtering Asgard's army? Was Thor finally unlocking his powers and slaughter Hela's army supposed to be funny? What about Skurge sacrificing himself for the people of Asgard? Or the constant vision scenes Thor has of Odin?
