  • Chuck’s whistling before their confrontation reminded me of Walter’s nonchalant whistling after the Drew Sharp situation with Jesse. Also I love the look Howard gave Chuck before leaving the conference room as if to retroactively say “You did this.”

  • It's so sad that Jimmy and Chuck's relationship turned out this way. It's obvious that Jimmy cares for and admires Chuck very much, so much so that he worked hard to pass the bar while still working his job in the mail room so he could be just like his brother. But Chuck only sees Jimmy for the person he was, not the person he could've become had Chuck supported him.

  • There are some elements of truth in what Chuck says (mixed in with jealousy, prejudice, hate, etc.) and if this speech was made to the "Saul Goodman" we see in Breaking Bad no one would really question it. But seeing Jimmy Mcgill and everything he does in this first season shows how hard he has been trying to do the right thing and how he really has a good heart. So seeing this come from someone Jimmy has been trying very hard to make proud of him and do his best to care for in any way he can is pretty heartbreaking.

    • Another comment I saw in a Better Call Saul video pretty much summed Chuck up perfectly. The comment was, and I quote: Ahh, Chuck. The embodiment of “just because you are correct doesn’t mean you are right.” Sounds like a Joe Biden quote, I know 😂 But in context, there’s definitely some truth to that comment. Chuck’s worries are a legitimate concern, but the way he treats it, and how he treated Jimmy, just wasn’t right.

    • This might be a controversial opinion, but I think the part about not hiring Jimmy to HHM isn't even bad. He's got a business to run and Jimmy could be a liability. We've seen the billboard stunt and the car fraud attempt on the kettlemans, we know slippin Jimmy isn't really gone all the way. Chuck knows, as well. But I 100% agree that decieving Jimmy for years and using Howard as a scapegoat is horrible. Chuck is clearly in the wrong for that one.

One wonders, if they treat their employees this way, how awful do they treat clients, or adversaries? What haven't we seen over the years? Wow...didn't mean to rant. Just that Chuck talks about the sanctity of 'law' the way Walter talks about his 'family'.

  • There will be few flashbacks in coming episodes where we kind of come to know Chuck's perspective on why he hates the guts of Jimmy to become a lawyer But deep down he loves his brother, just not Jimmy as a Lawyer

    @CirkFish@CirkFish11 ай бұрын
  • Oh man…this episode was actually what introduced me to Better Call Saul, and that scene with Mike and Trevor in that parking lot was honestly what introduced me to Mike! Very first scene I remember seeing him in, both in Better Call Saul AND Breaking Bad. The moment I saw Mike put Trevor Phillips in his place, picking him apart, I knew Mike was a badass and would be an awesome character! But yeah. While I can understand Chuck being worried about Jimmy being a lawyer, Chuck was way too fast to judge him. Chuck definitely has jealousy towards Jimmy, which becomes more apparent throughout Season 2. I think Chuck was so jealous of Jimmy, that he genuinely failed to realize Jimmy wanted to become a lawyer because of Chuck. Lots of other people might’ve looked up to Jimmy, but Jimmy looked up to Chuck and wanted to do right by him. Chuck might be a lawyer, a really good one, but I think he feels he has this sense of superiority and must always have it, even outside of Jimmy. Chuck is one of those characters who has both a superiority and an inferior complex. There’s only so much I can say. But all-around, Jimmy might not be perfect, but he clearly cares more about Chuck than Chuck cares about him. It almost reminds me of Jesse’s relationship with Walter, how little Walter actually seemed to genuinely appreciate Jesse.

Most people really transition position on Howard when you realized he was effectively trapped into playing Bad Cop given the power Chuck has. But glad the truth comes out ... Howard is quirky in his own way but in general a respectable character.

Of course, only the main cast is invited to the table read. Because of this the director usually reads the lines for the secondary actors like price. I think Vince Gilligan was the one who got to read Price's lines. The entire cast laughed every time he read a line from this actor. 😂

Before you do the bar exam, you have to get a law degree. This isn't the same everywhere. And getting it from American Samoa is different than from say a prestigious university. Not to say that Chuck is right. But the ways and the difficulty of reaching where they got was not the same between Jimmy and Chuck.

  • Seeing Jimmy doing well regarding the Sandpiper case is great since it’s nice to see him in his element, though having to turn it over to HHM is unfortunate. Seeing Mike deciding to do a job like this, while also taking out Trevor from GTA V while also having the other one just run away as a result of dealing with Trevor is hilarious and then having Mike meeting Nacho is really cool. Also Pryce is an idiot, but that basically is self explanatory. And the end when we see how Chuck really thinks about Jimmy being a lawyer and being the one who ensured he wouldn’t be working at HHM is very unfortunate. Apparently they wanted Howard to be the antagonist to Jimmy originally but then switched it to Chuck so that Howard was just the fall guy and it defiantly works. But it sucks when we see everything Jimmy has done for Chuck, from bringing him food and papers and then putting that moon blanket inside his jacket. Also the big guy who ran away after Mike dealt with Trevor was in El Camino as the bouncer who brings the women to the wielding place before Jesse goes in and kills the two guys to get the money he needs. I believe his name is Clarence. Obviously he was in this series before that movie, but it’s cool how Vince Gilligan brought him back to show what he’s doing after Breaking Bad. Also Kim is a great friend to Jimmy. I like whenever the two of them are together. Great reactions guys, take care!

  • 18:12 I love how Max had the big plot twist all figured out minutes before it actually happened, only to have a little bump of uncertainty right when it's about to happen. Max's too sharp for this show until he isn't. But for the plot twist itself, I hated Chuck for what he did to Jimmy. The fact that he's so oblivious to the way he wrongs Jimmy while simultaneously believing he's doing the right thing infuriates me. Jimmy has literally been keeping Chuck alive for a year and steadily working to make something of himself, but Chuck believes he can't be anything more than Slippin Jimmy. You don't sabotage your own brother because you can't trust his judgment. You have an open discussion about your concerns for his future. It might still have hurt Jimmy to hear it, but at least you'd still have a relationship with him. Shame on Chuck for that move.

People adapt to their surroundings and get away with whatever they can, but they can't change entirely. Chuck's jealousy over how much people love Jimmy shows that. I think he also saw the risk of elevating someone who was a lifetime scam artist and nearly a registered sex offender. What's to stop Jimmy from using his new power for evil? If he did, how many people would blame Chuck for not doing more to prevent it? From a societal perspective, how many times do we complain about screw-ups who use nepotism and connections to get them out of trouble and shield them from the consequences of their actions? The first episode of the series saw Jimmy trying to scam/blackmail people into becoming his clients because he saw a huge payday.

And the fact that he loves the law more than his own brother is messed up and yes making Howard take responsibility was awful, but I think Chuck's reasoning is that Jimmy with a law degree is absolutely terrifying to someone who respects the law like it's a religion. I feel like Chuck is the only person who can see where this is going. He's right. Chuck is right. Jimmy is still that guy. He is still "Slippin' Jimmy." We know that because we know where he ends up. Saul Goodman is the natural progression of Slippin' Jimmy. That said, who knows if Jimmy could have changed if he had his brother believing in him, etc. But my point is that Chuck isn't wrong. He just did it in a crappy way. Also, I could be wrong. Anyway, keep up the great reacting!

    • @@graytaco1002 only say that coz youve seen the rezt of the story. But AT THIS POINT in the timeline, Jimmy is excited to be a lawyer and work on the class action. He is tirning things round. He enjoys working with Chuck. And Chuck betrays him eith tragic consequences. Get it? Imagine all you know is the story up to this episode.

    • Interesting if you switch Chuck with “Jimmy” in your comment, it still applies and accurately explains how Chuck has felt about jimmy all those years. Stealing from his dad’s shop, pulling schemes. All that demonstrates casual betrayal of trust that was prob eating at Chuck from the inside. While chucks handling of this was wrong, Jimmy would’ve hit so many deal breakers for me as his sibling I would’ve been so done with him long before I give him a job at HHM 😂
