    • don't worry Allen. muscle weighs more than fat. its natural to gain a bit of weight if you grow your muscles from the leg weights. if you wanna get rid of fat, then you need to do more cardio and diet better so your body uses it up.

      @Matt-jc2ml@Matt-jc2ml4 ай бұрын
    • @@Matt-jc2ml I have a simple real world solution that wouldn't do any harm to joints and show maximum benefits of weighted clothing, fat people, your are naturally stronger when you weigh more because you are used to moving more weight, but if you actually exercise, you lose weight if you are doing calisthenics they become easier, because less weight over time. So how to fix this, if you start out real fat, add weight clothing proportionally to your weight loss, so no strength is lost, and it shouldn't harm your joints anymore than being fat would have. So say starting at 300lbs, if you can do a pull up, pushups, run, whatever, as you lose weight, doing all those things now at say 180lbs after a couple years, but with 120lbs of weighted clothing would make you extremely strong and agile, no other training needed. Actually not much strong in this scenario from the start, but a 180lb guy with the strength of a 300lb guy. Also weight could probably be worn all day, since again you already wore it all day as fatty.

  • Ex-Metal Drummer here. Was a drummer for a 3 years, before I really got into a Metal Band, and the band... and me too... wanted me to be able to be that fast double bass running (I.E. Lombardo From Slayer). So... while I could match the pace, I couldn't maintain that speed for a full 5mins for a song, much less a 30min-1 hour set... So I did this _Basically..._ I put 10lbs on each leg, for 20lbs total, at the ankles... and then went to work everyday where I was the Fastest and main sandwich maker at a Wendy's. That kept me moving all the time, which is what I think was missing the most from this vid. I was still using all the smaller muscle giving me finer control over my legs, rather then *_WADDLING_* everywhere like he was doing. Within 4 weeks of doing this, my legs were machine guns, sadly the band never really went anywhere and now I have a 13piece Drum kit just collecting dust for over a decade.

  • The thing with people trying this weighted training I've noticed is how big the jumps in weight are with how little adapting time there is. There hasn't been a single proper test of this weighted training yet. For a proper test of effectivity, you need to increment the weight very little at a time and continue with your normal training. You increase the weight just enough that it doesn't affect your dexterity at all and do your training like normal besides your daily life. When you can't notice the weights anymore, then you increase again just until you notice without it affecting your dexterity again. To properly test this, it wouldn't take weeks, but possibly over a year or more to do it properly and actually check the results.

    @GGCannon@GGCannon11 ай бұрын
    • I have been completely of the same opinion, there's been too much focus on quick jumps to high amounts of weight. The thing is, even the anime they're basing their thing on had the characters build up to those weights over long periods of time. Goku didn't get up to his heavily weighted clothes immediately, he built up to it, as a kid he had tasks meant to build muscle, then he got a weighted turtle shell, then a heavier shell, etc over long stretches of time. Rock Lee didn't go to his current weight immediately, he built up to it.

  • Others have said it already, but I'll also add it myself that you'd probably be a LOT better off with something like a weighted vest over weights on your legs, both because of what the trainer noted about knees and hips, but also more generally because what you want/need is greater overall resistance.

    @aquamarinerose5405@aquamarinerose54057 ай бұрын
    • Absolutely agree. I used to live about 2.5km walk from work so I started wearing a weighted vest and picked the route that had the most inclines and declines and walked it 4 times a week. I got to the point where I had 20kg in my vest and still had 10kg left to go. 30min each way Made for a great work out but by damn did my shoulders ache by the time I got to work or home.

      @AvoidTheCadaver@AvoidTheCadaver3 ай бұрын
    • I’d probably say that the *majority* of added weight should be worn in a vest. I could see a potential benefit of some *small* extra weights on whatever extremities are important in your chosen discipline (legs for running - help increase cadence, arms for martial arts, etc)

I had lipedema for 25 years, got the surgery this November, they removed 20 lbs of tumors from my legs, and when I got into the gym again I basically had super powers. But I probably would have BETTER super powers if I just worked out for 25 years without all the leg problems.

From over all caloric intake, to what you're eating, (doesn't really matter when you eat). One thing you can do to create a negative energy balance is to eat complex carbs lower on the glycemic index cause you digest them slower which in turn makes you feel fuller longer and more satisfied

  • Just saw this video and whats interesting to me is that this experiment probably helps understand how extremely obese people cope up with their condition. It helps understand how adding those weights make it more difficult for them to be more active and therefore continue to add to the weight. It helps to understand the struggle these people had to go through to get back in shape.

Just like this guy showed in the video, he exercised a lot and gained 6 pounds instead of losing weight. Obese people can quite literally go multiple days in a row without eating ANY solid food, and they will lose weight (just drink water).

  • i havent watched the full video yet so sorry if this is mentioned later. It's very common to gain weight when working out, espeically at first. Because muscle weighs more than fat. I think it's very important for people to not pay such close attention to the numbers, but more attention to how you feel and what more you can do. Being able to run faster, longer, or lift more, those are more rewarding things than seeing the numbers change, and they mean more than the numbers. I dont know how youre considered overweight, you look very healthy, and I think as long as someone is able to keep a active life style then the numbers dont matter after that.

    @w.u.r.m@w.u.r.m Жыл бұрын
    • You’re making the kg of feathers vs kg of steel mistake. Yes, he gained muscle, but that was because of the exercise, so fat/water weight was replaced for the muscle. What determines weight is calories which can give you more water/muscle/fat weight. He was apparently in a surplus the whole time, while also gaining muscle from the training

      @hata6290@hata62907 ай бұрын
    • @@hata6290no he is not doing that mistake, he is totally correct. With correct diet you lose fat slower than gain muscles cause you replenish the energy loss with your food, while fat by itself is like emergency energy storage. I mean if you want to gain muscle - you have to gain weight with powerlifting and stuff. If you want to lose weight - then you definitely go for just cardio.

    • @@hata6290 no, youre doing the kg of feathers and kg of steel, we are talking about a liter of feathers and a liter of steel, muscle is denser than fat by ~15%, so when you convert the equivalent volume of fat to muscle, weight goes up. thats why 200 lbs of fat looks very different from 200 lbs of muscle. calories has no bearing on anything because its just energy which is just fat, you either maintain your fat with nominal diet, or else it just increases in excess or decreases through ketosis, where you just exhale and urinate the fat out, which your body does regardless because it has to do that for a lot of normal bodily functions, so if your caloric intake is slightly less than caloric use, your body isnt able to replenish the fat in equilibrium with its usage, you also need protein for muscle mass which is going to stay "in" your body

Days after I noticed my elbows and knees were hurting so I checked my posture and the weight PULLS on them, so I had to PULL the weights all the time. This also would make sure that I used more of my core and more of the whole musculature accumulating less useless tension in overactive areas, such as e.g: Quadriceps and hip flexors getting tired to PULLING your leg forward. So the philosophy is god tier, the way you actually pulled it into practice and experiment is awesome. I WOULD do a few adjustments as everything can be better yeah, but nice video.

    • Old job I had required steel toed knee length rubber boots, like those typical water boots but steel toed, and I had to wear them standing on concrete all day long for 8-14 hours. My feet, legs, and lower back was so damn stiff and sore fore like the first six months but after that, aside from the occasional annoyance of floppy socks sliding down in the boot, I definitely noticed a difference when I wore sneakers around.
