James played really well, great to see him in such good form
What an example of the mental side of squash. Coll is my favourite player but he was almost unrecognisable in this match, with none of the control and focus you normally see. It was like he was playing against himself. He kept hitting balls back on himself, creating so many strokes, giving up the first 4 points that way. Asal has clearly gotten under his skin. It feels like Coll needs a therapist to help him deal with his intense feelings about Asal after their past encounters - and I mean that seriously, not as a joke or insult.
I guess there is a reason why you call yourself Story Deconstructor :-)
jep, Coll played maybe 10% of his normal standard. Terrible terrible game. Mind doctor definitely needed.
Coll exposed for unsportsment behaviour...he should hav been given a conduct stroke for deliberately pushing Asal down... Coll needs serious therapy ..to except that Asal is a very superior player then him
@@muhammadmopsa5269 that's why Asal won the British Open....no wait....
@@peterhammer6915 he talk about head to head between asal and coll winning one tournament is good but its the continous in winning tournaments is every thing if you want the number one spot like farag and elshorbagy .....Miguel roudriges won british open 2018 then stops and the draw is huge factor in squash by the way like to avoid farag until final or asal have good line up
You would struggle to find two nicer people on a squash court! Obviously talking about Willstrop and Momen (not Coll and Asal…)
Same thought bro
@Joseph Applebaum coll just plays hard. Asal is the biggest knob on tour.
Jeez that Coll/Asal match was hard viewing.
I love how she said "BUT MOMEN IS NOT AN IDIOT...", it is really lovely way to describe someone insanely fast who loves to expose himself on the front of the squash court. Really appreciate that commentary point. GO TAREK! YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY NOT AN IDIOT, YOU CAN DO IT. PICK THAT DROP MAN! Im rooting for you!
Haha, at 8:00 I love how she points out "Look at that, look at that IDIOT who is absolutely not able to read that shit by Willstrop (WHO IS NOT AN IDIOT BTW)."
Great performance from Momen and Willstrop. Momen playing very tight squash and constantly going towards the front. Hard for big man willstrop to lunge that many times.
103 Minutes..that to 4 games!!! after a long time we hv got this. Asal take a bow..u r improving not ur game but antics too
What a difference in on-court atmosphere in these two matches ...
Asal just has the most obstructive movement on tour. He is so damn talented but it’s just his movement that is frustrating to watch. Constantly creates interference in every single rally to the point where his opponent looks for him more and more which makes for terrible viewing. Genuinely doesn’t happen much with any other player. It’s as though he hasn’t learned the squash “dance” yet and until he does, he’s going to draw this nastiness from every opponent he plays. His movement goes like this: Giant lunge, large open swing with left arm splayed out completely, little hold, strike, slight move back into line of opponent which creates small interference in most rallies. I have faced this before and it’s incredibly frustrating to play against. You never quite feel like you have the space to reach the ball and execute the shot you intended. This just frustrates you and you end up looking for the player more and more. Vicious cycle but don’t be fooled, it’s instigated by Asal, not Coll. Ask yourself this, who is the common denominator in this? This happens in 50% of Asals matches.
I’ll also add, I don’t actually think Asal is a bad guy or even that he knows he’s doing it. He is just hustling his way through the tour the best way he knows how. I think we’ll see some improvement in his movement as he continues to develop. He will become less reliant on this obstructive nonsense and we’ll see his talent in its fully glory. Until then, he will continue to frustrate every opponent he faces.
@@phase9119 I think he's fully aware that he's doing it, but i think he's been coached into thinking it's a valid tactic/approach to use.
@@cookesam6 Quite possibly.
@@cookesam6 At some stage he or his coach decided the obstructive play was needed to win, I agree he is talented, but he needs to lose the dirty play and the stupid antics and after match bullshit, he needs to look to the other top players for this or he will have zero fans outside his home country.
@@phase9119 no his is intentional obstruction, he plays like it isn't but it is and they all know it. It is why Coll threw him down which wasn't appropriate. Remember he came out of the gate cheating, calling tins good and double bounces good. The only way he will stop it is if he is not challenged either by the refs or by the other players and he will drag squash down if he ascends. He is not the only one, the shorbagy boys do it too and as mo is being challenged more he is doing it more. It is a sad state of affairs and one of the principal reasons that squash is such a niche sport without wide appeal.
great run wilstrop dont stop until you drop
Really shame on Coll that push Asal on floor. Now I am really impressed by how Asal reacts by ignoring Coll. Asal really have a big improvement in his game and also emotion control that he not only physically strong but also play the game more wisely by varying the pace.
It’s a shame that Paul Coll got dragged down to Arshole’s level of behaviour.
I disagree. You have to act like an asshole, like an asshole, that's all you really got.
If you play squash with many different players then you should develop huge patience and temperament as well. Today asal got the better out of it. Im actually a big fan of his talent and if he keeps his nerves in control during the match like that today then he will be next Mohammad elshorbagy .. good stamina ,huge talent , getting better behavior during the game . This guy will break many records for sure 👍..a lot of people complain about his attitude. Come on guys ,respect the talent and give him some time to learn and improve . You will see a legend in him soon
Everybody absolutely respects the talent, but it's possible to respect one part of a player and have disdain for another part of them. He's conducted himself very well during matches this tournament though, which is great to see.
Watched the whole match and not just the highlights and watching Asal accuse Coll of hitting the ball down after the games where Asal hit balls halfway up the tin and played on was laughable. A really ugly game of squash. Physicality on court from both but both got drawn into looking for each other rather than playing the ball and mixed messages from referee. A much better advert for the game was the Momen v Willstrop game. Great to see James still playing so well at 38! Incredible.
Bad refs ruin matches.
@@michaelmitchell8567 agreed....certainly ruined the semi final between Momen and Makin. Was still a good game but the refereeing was embarrassing and unfortunately Joel was definitely on the receiving end of the bad ones.
James Tarek respect talent and fairplay, have a look mustafa and Paul....
This was such an easy game for the marksmen Momen...Willstrop wasno match
Asal is like prime Shorbagy and Paul has always struggled to compete with Mo.Elshorbagy when he's in form and fit. So Asal will always be a nightmare for Paul because of the opposing style of play and Asal also being a Physical anomaly (atleast for the time being)
the skill of willstrop and the speed of paul coll...willstrop should coach paul coll
Hoping Wilstrop was going too the Top one last time!
When they go high… I simply cannot watch Asal
This was Paul Coll at the most negative and lackluster I have ever seen him. I am actually surprised he didn't get docked more severely for the unseemly bar-room brawling at 03:19. Even more surprised by the comments here emphasizing rather Asal's claimed obstructive playing. Sorry, I believe all the strokes here were against Paul, no? Asal in my view wasn't merchandising anything cynical, especially when compared with what he is capable of when playing in front of the pyramids. Here, he simply systematically dismantled an arrogant Paul Coll and handed him his rear quarters. More of this Asal and you are on your way.
Not cool from Coll. No matter how annoying the opponent is, it's squash at the end of the day and not wrestling.
asal has improved his temprement though n coll the opppsite
@@amimahmad9699 he is still blocking as bad as earlier, nothing has changed there.
@@peterhammer6915 rnt refrees seeing the same?
t's just dirty from asal though. Makes for poor viewing. he has no class. Say what you want about it being within the rules but it's not nice to see and he shouldn't get anybodys respect.
Tom Daley wouldn't have looked out of place in the first match 😉
Games like Coll vs Asal is something that can bring publicity. I personally enjoy the dramatic performances of Coll and Asal, makes the game much more interesting. I do agree that it is annoying at times.
Could feel Coll seething inside before they even spun the racquet
Jake Paul vs Asal...in a boxing match!
imagine what this sport would be like if EVERY player played with asal's approach of blocking and causing intentional interference at every chance possible. Would it be better or worse?
Lol, yeah. It would be a catastrophe.
Whats wrong with a bit of a bad boy character The black and white shoes add to the villain image, fun stuff
I think its more the fact that he's plays disrespectful scumbag squash. No one hates a player based on their appearance
Asal is an incredible offensive and defensive talent....soon nobody will stand a chance against him. we are lucky to have him. I hope he will have a long career.
how there is no drug test for squash players ?
JW is 38 and he's playing like he's 28...beam me up.
what if asal pushed coll like that🤣 whole comment section would be a lecture hall then
agreed
people have double standards!
AGREED
true, referees in this tournament are biased. lots of bad calls throughout the tournament even for women tournament.
asal blocks other players movements so they get frustrated. Asal wouldn't do it because literally no other player on the tour uses his dirty tactics. They have class.
Would love to see Anthony Hill play Asal…….only last a few points and Asal would be eating his corn flakes with no front teeth…..
He would be wearing a racket in the face very early for sure
Asal would have whipped him all day long
Lol I can’t believe Coll just straight up shoved Asal to the ground 😂 maybe this is what squash needs more of? Maybe we should just let them fight like in hockey
n yet coll lost..again!!!
Imagine if Asal had done that….
You didn't see after that asal shove coll 4 times in the match and trip him
@@amimahmad9699 Coll lost again? You make it sound like he's some kind of constant failure; he's the current winner of the British Open.
I know Asal isn't very popular, but c'mon people Coll did not play well in this match. All of the strokes were clear as day. Coll kept hitting poor shots that came right back to him. The ref should have called it both ways when Asal was running into Coll though.
الحمدلله 💙
3:18 Superman is my man forever. :-)))))
Coll fighting fire with fire here - clearly trying to give Asal a taste of his own medicine with the dodgy movement as well. More need to start doing this
Surprised to see Coll act violently, expected Asal to do so not Coll. Surprised that Willstrop didn't beat Momen. He has it all.
Too hate ASAL...
Azal is such unsportsmanlike. Really disgusting to see the way uses those cheap tactics to block his opponents and frustrate them. One can only feel the frustration from Coll. Compare that match to the one Coll vs Farag last week. On the other end of spectrum of the game, James is a complete pleasant to watch, the accuracy the sportsmanship and the viper just too lethal
refrees r officiating not U!!!
Even when Coll is the one in the wrong, yall still find a way to blame Asal?. That's messed up my G. Just accept that Coll lost today and he displayed some not so nice behavior.
Asal has got really nasty & dirty tricks. Disgusting...
@@andredejongh1411 do u even play squash or any sport?? john mcnroe was a grt tennis player yet not loved! what wrong asal did in this match tell me. if i was pushed like coll did, i wuld hv retaliated! n remember asal is 20 yrs old..what u did n achieved wen u were 20!!!!!!
@@siphesihlecele2275 true that
Asal's temperament is excellent these days and a good win. I'll pick him to win this tournament provided he keeps his cool.
Paul Coll has now lost atleast thrice to Asal recently... and definitely he's lacking confidence against the tenacious youngster .... yes, Asal does use his physicality to intimidate his opponents, but well within the rules of the sport... interesting times ahead , and while everyone here seems to dislike Asal, remember he's just 20, and will gain maturity and become better as he gains more experience ....
What a dreadful advert for squash. Can't stand watching Asal.
cant stand watching Colls barbaric behavior he has become Asals whipping boy
Its very tricky for refs because playing your shot and standing your ground / preparing for your next shot is where the ambiguity lies..if you're standing very close to your opponent then of course it looks like they are blocking after they have hit a shot..standing just a little bit further away though and blocking looks more obvious when you take your line to the ball and easier for refs to spot more deliberate intensions but you've got to play off someone's shoulder so you can be as close as possible and put yourself in the best place to get to the ball. It's tricky...it is a close contact sport..it's one of the things that makes squash great but it's upto refs to study patterns of play to prevent unsportsman like conduct. John Mazz should have all the refs on a special course .. The sacred art of blocking and how to take back control of the match you referee.
3.20 ... Absolutely disappointed with Coll for doing that!! The ball was far and the path was there from around. Rubbish!!
Nope .Paul was completely correct in doing that.Asal always blocks the other players movement during the match.
@@uditagarwal2305 ok sunshine! if that’s how you were brought-up to think about sports 🙂
no i hate Asal he always stretches his ass likes he wants to be nailed.
@@mellowmonsoon278 Dude, don't be so sensitive. I totally agree with Udit Agarwal.
@@arnaud78 🥱 Zzzzzzz
Great gane Asal, well deserved the better player won!!!
Yoooo Asal 🤜🤛
I hoped Asal had lost the habit of gloating at the end of the match.
Paul next time don't push anyone otherwise he will kick out you from the tournament remember today match
Shocked at the negativity toward Asal, who's still a young player whose behavior will evolve. His talent is undeniably top level, and he has personality which this sport needs. And the other comments here which condone Coll pushing Asal to the ground ?? Are you serious with this vigilante justice stuff ?? That's not the type of squash I'll ever want to play, or to watch. Coll's intense, amazingly fit and talented, but he needs to chill a bit, he's way too wound up and surly when he plays, and it leaves him susceptible to having other players get under his skin. I totally agree he needs to self-reflect on his own mental approach, it's his biggest impediment right now. And Asal - same thing. Gauthier does some of the same stuff in trying to get the crowd going, his delivery is better though.
Don't try to use age as an excuse for his behaviour, so many of the golden age players were nothing like that on court. Or what about farag? The man was a gentleman on the court straight out of harvard
@@Shadowhunter-bf4dw You got me wrong - I didn't mean to imply age was the factor at all. Was more to imply he has time to learn new habits. Totally agreed Farag has the right attitude.
Great dominance by Asal.
I dont understand the Asal negativity, yeah he’s been a bit ‘misbehaving’ from time to time but thats age and pure talent. As a Coll supporter I’m dissapointed that a player of his caliber plays into the antics of Asal. It’s a game after all and if the officials (as they should) accept it, all thats left to say is: Dont hate the player hate the game.
it's just dirty from asal though. Makes for poor viewing. he has no class. Say what you want about it being within the rules but it's not nice to see and he shouldn't get anybodys respect.
If I cause interference for my opponent I (and most others) feel bad/rude because it's a cheap move, but arsehole genuinely tries to cause interference at every chance he gets. Wilfully being disrespectful, even when it's unnecessary tends to make people hate you.
@@cookesam6 The guy is just targeted, you look at most Egyptian players. that's what they are taught are doing. Look at Mo and Marwan, Dessouky. Mainly cause Asal is the bad guy hence you guys are focusing on it. But if its against the rule, the refs would have called it out. Minor interference are not new to the game. If you guys think that's the way then, you guys should play tennis, so nobody can block you path/taking your space.
Momen the true marksmen ...gave a real lesson to Willstrop
asal used to shout, blocm blah blah .but never boxed some1 like dat. Coll is TRUE SYNONYM for unsportsmanship
Lot of anti-Asal comments. I am not an Asal supporter or fan and i haven't watched the full match however, in these highlights there is not a single instance where i can see an obstructive play from him. Beating a player like Coll is a big achievement and shows Asal's incredible talent. He needs to work on his celebrations though.
need boxing gloves not a racket with asal
I never thought I would say this….. I think I’m an Asal fan now! He seems to have calmed down during matches and his celebrations. Yes Coll must have been frustrated with the partial blocking but that’s part of the game just get on with it!
Only player with a conduct warning was Coll, for his repetitive and unnecessary shoving of Asal. Coll always gets tetchy when playing Asal
@@Sam-pr8gb asal consistently blocks movement of his opponents around the court. I literally never see Coll or his opponents get angry and it only happens with asal. Asal is just a dirty player.
Blocking the way Asal does it is not part of the game; he's the only one that does it.
@@howardjennings1166 you’ve clearly not watched that many of Coll’s games then, or you’re just being biased.
I really love Asal. I always check the end of highlights first and only watch his matches if he loses.
lmaol I guess Coll met his match. GG
Really poor behaviour by Coll. Shoving a player even if clear let situation is never the graceful thing to do. 3:10
아살은 왜 이렇게 더티하게 게임합니까? 코치랑 무조건 이기는거에만 관심있나봐.. 예전 이집트 전설들이 그립다( Shabana, Darwish, Ashour ) miss them all!
Not impressed with Asal, unpleasant character.
Love the showman Asal...power and precision. One of the most powerful forehand in the history of the game. Coll needs to change his attitude...sulks like an adolescent
Bye bye Superman.
From your couch no less
Paul should have won this match
the only way he could hav won if he through Asal out of the court Coll got a thrashing from Asal
...Were you watching the same match I was ???
Coll was destroyed by Asal.. catch a wakeup dont watch with blinkered eyes
I'm over the moon that people in the comments are finally seeing that PERSONALITY IS WHAT WE WANT, the raw emotion and anger from Coll was so entertaining, and seeing Asal wind him up and milk it was like poetry. Asal has been one of my faves since he joined the tour and today he just reaffirmed why!
Asal literally destroyed coll
Not sure you understand the meaning of “literally” lol
Asal is such a dislikable player. He has talent but no class
Coll was always in the way. He couldn’t bully asal who deserved to win 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
arseal is toxic for squash. It needs role models for Olympic recognition not spoilt brats. Notwithstanding what McEnroe did for Tennis ....
Asal best personality for squash

I just i just threw up a little in my mouth reading that...
You must really hate squash…
Moaning momen I can’t stand him.
Coll needs to be suspended for his barbaric behavior... total disrespect for Asal who is a far superior player then Coll will ever be .. Coll is a terrible advert for global squash recognition...he must be banned for life.. not superman but superass
banned for life LMAO
If Coll should be suspended Assal should be throw out few months ago. Asal is most dirty player on PSA. His blocking, constant pushing deribetly leaving gis leg behind him. After 90 minutes of dirty squash like that no wonder other player start be frustrated.
Asal is far superior than Coll will ever be? Coll is the current British Open champion, which major has Asal won?
