Hell yeah! The “easy out” for the owner would have been to just fire him, but the owner had Earl’s back the whole way.

I have a lot of respect for the stores owner, clearly he values a hard working employee, and possibly knows that the police in that area are corrupt & just wants to make sure that not only his employees are safe from constant police interrogation but also customers are safe from the police. It's ironic how the "Serve & Protect" people in this particular situation are doing the complete opposite to what they're meant to do, protection from the police because the police are harassing people......it is ridiculous that such a situation can occur. It's good to know that not all police officers are like this, but it is a shame that theres still a few.....

It should also be noted: even though the cameras were only installed in 2011/2012, the owner has been by Earl’s side, fighting for him from the very beginning. He’d known Earl since he was 14, and knew he was an upstanding guy. He’d tried multiple times to report the injustice for multiple individuals targeted, but was only met with harsher profiling. What’s worse for Earl, he ultimately had to plead guilty to all the trespassing charges… in order to get out of jail… for something which was literally proven to be an abuse of the system. His record was expunged later on, but that’s not even close to the point.
That just goes to show how badly we need to change the way some cities are policed. I wonder how many cities are operated just like this if not worse.

I would imagine that if the police arrest the employee whose job is to man the register of a store that would result in the store being unattended. That means anyone can get gas or pick up random items without paying for it because there's no one to stop them from stealing. This is the most acceptable grounds for suing I've ever seen.
Even more reason that police immunity should be removed. This should be an IA investigate the officer involved be fired and charged with harassment. The police chief also need to lose his job.
It would have been excellent grounds to sue after the tenth time. Earls got the patience of three dozen saints
Think about how much money he spent bonding out, dealing with fines, or even court costs for every instance he was arrested. That is for sure something to look into because all that adds up. Not sure how much he has paid, but this feels like it's being done to drain his bank account.

The police reached some kind of financial settlement with Mr Sampson and 10 other people who sued them for doing this in 2015, but none of the officers were fired or known to have been disciplined in any way. One officer did flip on the police and became a witness for Mr Sampson and the other accusors, of course THAT officer was soon after fired.

with the amount of times that he's been falsely arrested, i'm quite astonished he hasn't sued the police into oblivion.
He and others did. The city reached a settlement, and none of the officers in the lawsuit were punished in the slightest except for one that sided with the plaintiffs.
Keep suing! Until it's his full-time job! Until the town has to discorporate because there's no more money, and every tax dollar goes straight to Earl. And the police force, to the last man, dies of hunger under a bridge.

There will be a lack of available positions and lead to downsizing if there is a decrease of criminal behavior. Union leaders know they get cushy pensions and fat checks. They have no incentive to change things. They scratched and clawed their way up and took the position from the previous corrupt cop. There is no way they will change the way they do things. Union leaders have such a hold on community politicians to the degree the politicians fear going against them. The system is designed to keep people enslaved to benefit a select few. It will continue to remain like that unless the people DEMAND the change. Because the empty promises, the logo change, the corporations sending out email newsletters, is NOT CHANGE. I remember when I got a new car, my record was 13 times pulled over in 1 year (2016). People really don't believe cops love harassing black people. I remember I got pulled over with my white friend at night. Cops drove up besides me, got behind me, pulled me over and said he pulled me over for tinted windows 🤣🤣...
