I'm guessing when the escape pod that shadow is in when Maria dies lands on earth, he goes on a rampage because he's pissed and then is captured by gun

I think it’s more likely that Shadow’s initial rampage after Maria died carried him through Reno, or wherever the 1974 National Bowling Championship would have been held.
