#BestFireSteel #FerroRod #Firesteels
*Hey Group: Hope you enjoyed our list of our Absolute Favorite Firesteels. As always links for more information is down in the video description!*
DropForgedSurvival of corse we did lol thx for the honest content and great vids
DropForgedSurvival I will be becoming a member soon as well looking forward to the extra content and extra perks and supporting the Chanel to see more of this in the future
Of course brother! Hey I added my last name on my account...are my entries still valid???
DropForgedSurvival love the content. Keep being awesome.
I did like this one too! I'm a fire-holic and love everything fire! As long as it is done safely!
"Stroke down the shaft of that rod." That's what I tell my wife all the time but she just rolls her eye's at me.
It’s a rare gal who learns to do it as good as you know who😂
“1 or 2 pumps”
😂😂😂😂
She probably rocks you in one or two pumps as well.
😂
All the people criticizing the video for not just carrying a lighter, BUT.. Ferro rod & striker can come right out of water and work, function at 50 below 0, and I’m sure can be taken on an airplane without any suspicious looks…. Plus, it’s just plain FUN and satisfying to know how to use these !!
Do those same people realize that lighters run out faster?
Funny story though. I had a firesteel kit on a plane and the officer completely ignored my lighter but had loads of questions for his superior about whether firesteels are permissible -_-
Yea, but, what about just carrying a liter, you know, because it is a lighter?
Exactly and those who say that also never tried to use a lighter when its -20 degrees celcius out, ive tried and no matter how good your butane torch or bic is it wont work unless you keep it warm in an inside pocket.
"You can grip it" "... and still have a good 5.5 to 6 inches to stroke the shaft" "1 to 2 pumps"
Almost as if i said that myself! Lmao 😆
@@DropForgedSurvival LMAO
I died at that entire section, I had to unplug and let my lady listen to it XD
@@pyro_mania67 lol.. thanks for the reminder 😂
“Stroke down the shaft of that rod” 😂
That got a loud and long chuckle out of me😂
In just 2 or 3 strokes you'll be good. 😂😂😂
That's what she said.
😂 😂 😂
The go tubes are genius!
“Stroke down the shaft of that rod” bruhhhh I’m crying🤣
Strokes and Shafts. Gets them every time
“Stroke down the shaft of that rod, and let me tell you what you are going to be able to rock this thing in one or two pumps.”
Coomer.
I knew someone would do it 😆
Keep in mind that alot of people live off the grid in the middle of nowhere. Ferro rods and magnesium bars are a good backup for when your lighters run out of fuel and you won't be back in town anytime soon.
“Stroke down the shaft of that rod” 😂🤣 sorry just kid in me
Lmao same
and you will be able to rock that thing in one or two pumps....
🤦♂️
Congrats bro 205k
Thanks for the laugh!🤣😂 2:22
Thank god another fire steel video
Thanks for vid on this topic. I like your idea inn the clear tubes.
Me too. Any idea where to get the tubes if you want to make your own?
I keep a couple of fire starters on me everyday. I have a UST Strike Force and an Ozark Trails 5 in 1 knife in my backpack, a Quick Spark fire starter from Lifeline I keep in my pocket and a couple Paracord bracelets.
Man, those fire tubes are a GREAT idea.
Jose Virella Thanks Bud!
“Come on baby light my fire!” 🎙🎶😂
Head to Tail BBQ Oh!! SING THAT TUME! Haha 😂
DropForgedSurvival 👍🏻😁 Great video sir! Thanks for the info on all these.
Nice one Chris. Enjoyed looking at your collection of firesteel. One thing I've found is that the bigger firesteel are easier for kids to handle and learn with. You showed a good selection. The clear tubes are an excellent idea and one I'll be adding to my firekit. I'm curious to see if they'll be suitable for charcloth as it's a really cheap form of tinder for me along with Sisal (jute twine) processed into its individual strands in another tube.
Great collection of fire steels. Nathan 4071 has some of the best ferro rods there is and his prices are always good.
Gray Man Outdoors 4 Directions Bushcraft, Exotac, and Lightning Strike are my Go To’s all the way. Also... “all these companies including your bud and many others... use the Exact same Manufacturer.
@@DropForgedSurvival You're right. There's only so many companies in the world that produce them.
Seeing this video makes me want warmer days and want to go camping. Also use some to help light stuff on the old grill. Did that last year and I ended up making s'mores
Awesome stuff
Great info Chris..I really like the GO TUBES!!!
Nice overview. Nice to see there are so many options available these days.
American Glutton and its only growing more and more each year!
Because of your videos I made me an my gf real firekits For the bugout bags. An I daily a altoid tin in my edc bag.
Danielvtec08 Awesome!
Another great video. I love How You are mixing it up with reviews and adventures now 👍🏻
A lot of awesome fire starters
Magnificent review! I've seen hundreds on any number of subjects but this is one of the most useful reviews I've encountered -- ever. Totally thorough and professional with the added gold mine of links. My compliments and gratitude. Now I'm gonna see what other reviews you've done.
Thanks alot Michelle
Awesome firesteels! My favorite that I own has hot to be my 4directions bushcraft firesteel! I’ve had it for years and never fails me!
Marlah 4 4DB definitely never fails
Love your passion and always outstanding reviews, especially for people just starting out in prep's or bushcrafting or for the guy like myself sitting here with a broken back and can't do anything my preps are on hold but love you videos keep up the great work and God bless🖒🇺🇸🕇
Michael Bonfiglio Thanks alot Mike!
Just went on Amazon and bought the Sharpal 101 6-in-1 because of this video. Looks like a good sharpening kit and easy fire starter all for under $10. Thanks for the video. Never would have come across this product without you.
Yay! Another vid from Chris! Love seeing your notifications pop up.
Great idea on the tubes, just ordered them! Keep up the good work!
I really am learning so much from your channel, really glad it showed up in my feed
Thanks Chris for keeping us informed about around gear and by that price wise and cheap good and great to give us that range and by the way thanks for getting me hooked to stanford outdoors place is great
Back again as always love the vids keep it up man so glad I was there for 200 k ready for half a mill and then a mill
This video is... valuable. I hope it's never taken down.
They all seemed pretty good to me. It really comes down to choosing the one you think will fit your need best. If the rod doesn't work then it is probably a user error and not a product error.
The mixed tinders tube's. Is a great idea and if you use those right a tube or 2 will do a lot of fire's and keep the material safe
Very interesting! I liked seeing all those different options.
Outside with Kim Thanks alot Kim!
Thank you! Grats on 200k, continue with the great content! Waitin for the next video.
Michael Gimani Thanks Alot Mike
@@DropForgedSurvival Whoaaa, first time a youtuber i like responds to me :D thanks!
got several fire steels but like the one from 4DB...the best...dont really care about all the bells and whistles...just as long as it works...
Great video man, love me some fire steels!! Makes me want to go out and start a campfire, lol.
I own a sharpal and it work really well!
Awesome intro !!! :D
i love the tubes!!
I luv the fire tinder tubes idea!
Nice review. Thanks for your service too 👍
Great information. Thank you for sharing
This video just popped up in my feed and I’m sure glad it did. I am now subbed. Thanks.👍🏻🇺🇸 P.S. Thank you so much for all the links in the description. I really appreciate it.
Great video Chris. Really like your idea for the fire tinder tubes. Keep up the great work. Stay safe.
Robert Garza Thanks Alot Robert!!
It is a cool idea indeed! There is a product called Keep2 Go tubes that ive used for different things, including to keep the Fiberlight stuff that Chris had in this video. Same concept he was saying about keeping it waterproof and secure, but they have a loop on the cap, so u could even use the lanyard to carry it around ur neck.
Good info for us here in rainy Oregon! I have several Uberleben rods, I'll have to try some of the others here!
The best I’ve ever used came with my mora bushcraft knife
Another awesome and informative video thanks
Brandon Shelton Thanks alot Brandon!
Wooo he made another video!!!
I love your suggestions, and I've tried a few of what you mentioned, and they are great. One of my favorites wasn't on the list, so I'm excited to tell you. The company Schrade has amazing Ferro rods I initially was testing out there knives and axes, but most of them come with a rod, and I was amazed how well they worked. Its more of a soft one but last a long time and throws some big sparks. I highly recommend you check them out if you haven't already. My favorite are the ones that come with there axes, but they are all the same, just different in size. :)
Great video! Keep them coming!
I love the most bigger one... The monster fire stater 👍👍👍👍👍
Dude I’m ur biggest fan love ur work
If we would admit it, we'd have to say that the majority of "survival gear" out there on the market is designed to sell products, not actually work.
I use drier lint. Lights up easy everytime
Loving the huge one and the tinder go tube idea!
Great video keep it up , and also the gear its not the only thing that matters the knowledge to use that gear its more important . Unfortunately i dont have the knowledge but i hope i will learn it with practice.
soleimani elias You can only learn by getting outside and take to it hands on!
Amazing incredible and i want a colection like that.........
It's a sickness...I get it...I got it...caught it from you...it's also contagious!...lol
Those tubes are a good idea
Very good informative video.
I use plain jane firesteels - like you said the 1/2" x 6" is typical. But I also have a few smaller ones like 5/16"x4". I wrap some Gorilla duct tape on one end that I can use as tinder.
Awesome firesteels man
Great video. With great info.
Rod Markins Thanks alot Rod!
Great info , Thanks
Another good video as usual!
Charles Quick Thanks alot Charles
Ahhh... So that's what those tubes were! Cool idea
Great Vid
A new video YESSS!
Some epic fire steels then the bonus footage been waiting since you teased it on instagram....told you I'd comment lol 😂😂 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for the video -- very informative
Glad it was helpful!
The Corona tungsten tool sharpener is an Incredible ferro rod scraper.
Working on a pretty solid go pack for backpacking this summer and one of those Tony Stark fire steels will be in it for sure!
Austin Burson Nice Choices!
very cool firesteels you have there
Can you please provide the link for the go tubes? Are they 45 or 60ml ? Thank you
Nice overview of the fire steels. some of those were beast mode. supprised you didnt have a tube for the smurfcrap. Anywho on to the next one.
Chaucer Faux Oh yes. The are the pocket Flame throwers
Cheers Mate!
Awesome vid on fire 🔥 steels!!!
Love the videos
So awesome, I’m a big fan on survival, I do have a couple of ferro rods, I would like to buy me more different types. Ty for ur video.
Note: Don't take turn off Bluetooth earbuds while in the break room @2:20.....you will get everyone's attention😂
Great video
Where can I get a fat ferrow rod like that? there awesome the one on the far left is that homemade? If so how can I make one?The reason I'm jumping ahead is your video is having trouble getting going. It's giving me the wait for it circle extra long time. Now it says no connection with a playback id: inperinthicies or tap to retry here goes nothing. Sorry I gave up but if I see it again I'll try.
Loved the video great content
I have a cheapie ciggerette lighter in my kit the last two years. It hasn’t let me down yet.Its still more than half full.
Right on! Lighters are great for short term and quick FireStarting
Always good to have a lighter or two, but redundant redundancies are the name of the game.
Owen Hinsman I don’t get it,this guy won’t use a lighter but he’ll use cotton balls and petroleum jelly.
What is the best way to store the firesteel? Will they rust & go bad?
Can the lightening strike ferro rod be replaced? I don’t think I would ever use the lightening strike if I bought it. I would treat it more like a souvenir. Too expensive to use
Do you have a link to the Nato Fire Stricker and Innovative ?
My favorite is Nanostriker xl
Dustin Driggers It is great for EDC
@@DropForgedSurvival yeah I use it for that and my psk I carry two of them with extra rod and o rings
Great video guys love the go tunes where did you get the magnesuim dust
Great video!
5:53 That was funny.
Was searching for this comment!
if you had to chose just one steel and one tinder - which one would you go with?
Do they have a strikers with spring loaded integrated scrapers?
I like the jungle stock fire starter! They have a good combo set up, ever tried that one before?
All was awesome Chris imma buy a few of those tube not a bad idea....
jerry garcia Glad you enjoyed the Idea! It is a fun build
Always love your ideas man thanks will definitely be doin this for my edc backpack i just have mine in ziploc with zip ties and ranger bands....
Darth Croll we be looking in to it....
