I finally received my stage 3 ported cylinder heads from Livernois and in this video we go over: what is porting, why it makes a difference, and what kind of power gains we can expect.
You can find my socials and get in contact with me through my Tazet profile:

The build is progressing nicely. One of my favorite builds on KZhead
Thanks Alfonso ✌
Been waiting for this vid for a while, instant like
Frrr lol I’ve sent him many messages about his next vid!!! 😂
Just thinking about of all these delicious upgrades hurts my wallet lol
I feel your pain been there already just cams alone for that model probably about 700$ or more the 2v comp cams cost me 600$ just cams
@@linoacuna7230 damn y'all actually finding cams I can't find any in stock
@@driftcat7076 checkout late model restoration I think they now have mopar and dodge parts if that is what u r looking for
@@linoacuna7230 contrary to my name I own a 05 3v but I'm hopeful lol
@@driftcat7076 the 3v with cams sound amazing by the way
You’re one of the few people keeping the 3V alive. I’ve been contemplating on saving for dob kit trying to keep it around 500whp for a Decent daily.
Same here - I’m going for a DOB kit for mine as a streetable grocery getter with AC. This’ll be the turn key hot Rod while the rest of the projects come and go
Making power isn't cheap, but doing it well is worth doing it right. You're following the right path for sure and will be enjoying the gains you'll have👍
So true! I was thinking the exact same thing!
Just purchased a 08 GT and have been searching KZhead for upgrades. Your channel is by far the best I've found! Keep up the great work!
God damn, I love this build more and more with each upload. Also, thank you for teaching me what ported heads mean and what to expect from 3v's if you get this done.... To go from 325 hp to 400+ is INSANEEEE! With all the new parts you're planning to add as well I wouldn't be surprised to see modern Coyote power coming out of your 3v! Very very cool. I finally picked up my own 3v and it's better than I had ever dreamt.
I love the detail, especially since it is a 3V. These engines are definitely an “underdog” since nobody seems to do much with them. Keep up the good work. I’m excited to see another 3V in northern Nevada!
Thanks Logan. Good content btw, keep it up 👍
Four Eyes thanks man I appreciate it.
could always build the engine and put a blower on it. I think you can get somewhere around 630 horsepower or so if you do it right. I want to do it some day but my father doesn't think it is a good idea. There's been a lot of 3V back in 2005-2006 I can remember with superchargers putting out over 400hp.. it's been doable for quite a long time. And yes, I can afford ~$16,500 upgrades to the engine.
Mine doesn't perform like an 'underdog' and it is still stock. People seem to be spoiled with what is available today and forget how much power you really just need on the street. Not everyone lives on a race track or a 1/4 mile drag strip. At least, I don't and I never will. Also there were already Chevrolet LS V8 powered cars way before the S197 GT came out in 2005 that would outrun it.
wiselink marque yea all the new production cars coming out have an insane amount of HP especially for daily driving.
dang rev that unit to 8k. this thing is coming together so sick

I look forward to your uploads every 3 months quality content 👌

I’m finally buying a 3V of my own, and your build is an inspiration to me. I hope to make my car even 1% as cool as yours.

Your channel is so great it’s really helping me take notes on how to build my 3v
Dayyyyum dude! Very cool to see this route instead of the typical FI power adder

no doubt
Yeeeesss!! Finally! I've been waiting forever for you to post a video!
Thanks for waiting Chris 🙏
This was my next step on my fbo 3v build before I went coyote. My build was pretty much identical. Ford racing intake manifold, hot rod cam, headers, TB, jlt cai, tuned, coils, etc. I never dynoed it, but my butt dyno put it close to a stock gen 1 coyote. I went gen 3 and it was a decent jump. Can't wait til you boost it
YES FINALLY A NEW VIDEO KEEP THEM COMING
Can't wait to see the results!
Man, the process you’re using to bring your 3v to the next level is beautiful 👌🏻 my favorite channel for sure! I just picked up a satin silver 2007 GT last month and I’m looking to follow your lead on this, exactly how I would have done it! Nice work man!
Nice! Love Three Valves! What are your plans for it?!
Yessss ive been waiting sooo long ! 3v gang 💪
Like the video before even watching. Excited for another one man!
Big fan of your work. Haven’t seen an update recently, but hope things are working well. BTW, I also have a Tungsten Grey (Saleen Extreme 3V) and decided to build an engine with RGR, who also did port the heads.
Always wanted a 5 axis machine 😍! I run two 4 axis a61nx Makino’s for a living. Polishing is very simple to do on your own. A little time and elbow grease and they’d be good 👍🏻. Also polishing the combustion chamber is beneficial! Removing any “sharp” spots so to speak helps with detonation aka spark knock. Therefore eliminating hot spots.
I’m ready to see this 3v build👀🔥
So glad he’s posting again
Edit: I got porting done. All done by hand by someone with many years experience. They did it per my application. Gains we’re 25% average on intake across valve lift range and 48% average on exhaust. Actual cfm gains at .600 were 212 up to 268 intake, 145 up to 212 on exhaust! So it performs between a LS1 and coyote head. Great flow for 4.6L. OP: Building one of these too, talking about porting with engine builder right now. Turbo application. Crazy part is the gains N/A are multiplied under boost. Let's say you gained 75HP N/A, thats worth 150HP at 15psi! Insane!
I can’t wait to see this engine back in
That outro is sick asf🔥
Good vid brow ,,keep doing the good work with that 3v , those motors are amazing,I been washing your videos .😎
Saludos desde Tijuana BC México 🤠✌️
Damn i was thinking the same thing about my heads on my 3v be nice to get them ported. But damn those heads u got CLEANNNNNNN OMG cant wait to see everything done.
I have to respect this man's love for the 05-09. His build make me regret getting a coyote.
I love your videos, you are one of the youtubers that inspired me to start my KZhead adventure
thanks man 🙏 just keep it up
Still love watching the videos and seeing the choices you make. One of the reason I love the video so much is my Mustang is almost exactly like yours - 2007 GT Tungsten Grey. I have done a few new mods since my last comment on one of your videos also. Laguna Seca / Ford Performance Rear Seat Delete / X Brace, TMI front seat reupholster kit (this make them look more like the modern sport bucket while still retaining the original seat frames) and an Edelbrock Stage 2 Supercharger Kit w/ a custom tune from VMP Performance. I look forward to seeing more video - you do a great job - very enjoyable to watch.
How do you like those reupholstered seats? Good fitment or a bit saggy here and there? And thanks Cooper ✌
@@Four_Eyes - No fitment was actually excellent but it take about 4 to 5 hours to do and you will need an extra set of hands, my Mustang has the Premium package so it had the factory leather seats - I even moved the factory seat heater over to the new setup.
1:56 the dual nikken indexer monster w. the inverted fixture on the A axis.. wow!!
Love your channel. Great content. I'm thinking of getting a big bore short block from modmax.
Hell yeah man! Building that motor is definitely the way to go. I'm sure you'll be close to 450-480hp when the motor is finished.
We'll find out 🤞 Always appreciate the oldschool subs, thanks for following the build Sterling.
Hey man, im building up an 05, i love your videos. Im doing comp cams stage 2 cams, and next year definitely gonna look into the kooks headers you have lol. Maybe these heads one day!
will the maf and map sensors will act and adapt according to the flow and pressure generated by this modification ? Is there a range of values considered standard by the maps in the ECU ?
Great content. Thanks for going into such detail. Please document the motor build as much as possible. I'm wanting to try to rebuild a short block & this my first ohc motor. Theres is not a lot of engine building info on 3v's. I was going to drop in a 393w stroker, but decided to turbo the 4.6 instead.
Thank you, and thanks for watching. So I have a build sheet here: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hVIZx8W_6PMGEG0bqVcpb3FUmJhsc5FHKiF8nt7t1EM/edit#gid=0 And I'm posting another video in about two weeks that details all the parts I bought for the rebuild.
@@Four_Eyes The build sheet is very helpful. I was hoping to assemble my valve train on the short block in my garage. I'm from the ls world & there just isn't a lot of build info on these 3v's. I'm hoping it's the same as a 2v.
Yesssir love these videos my guy
This is great dude I just had my full bolt on 3v tuned it's making 341 rwhp...this is goals right here loving the build
Nice. What's all on the car exactly?
@@Four_Eyes I have kooks long tube headers, full straight piped, hot rod cams, ford performance intake manifold, upgraded throttle body, jlt cold air intake with the heat shield,1 piece d/s, 93 tune. Short shifter, light weight flywheel and performance clutch...,
@@Four_Eyes oh and msd coils, I believe that's everything

most underrated youtuber!
FINALLY SOMEONE DOES THIS VIDEO
These videos make me want to do so much to my 3v but then I remember that im 18 and gotta get my wallet prepped for student loans not down payments on a supercharger 😂
Sick build
thanks dom ✌
Wouldn't trust the Livernois numbers. They are bad about lying about inflated HP numbers to sell parts. A stock 3v Makes 350bhp on the engine dyno with headers and bare minimum accessory drive. Heads will normally add 30bhp on the engine dyno. Convert to rwhp I say stage 3 heads on your setup will add 25 whp. I say this not to be a dick. Looking forward to seeing the results. It will be hard to decipher the hp gain on these as you will be adding these to a motor with boost as well a drop in CR. The drop in CR will reduce hp by about 10-15 by itself (NA), but won't matter as you will be making too much horsepower when you boost it. Thanks for putting out the great content man! Make sure you get boost cams in the future. NA cams in a boost motor will make less hp than the stock cams under boost conditions.
Love the way you explain things well done. Im having as much fun as if I were doing this to my mustang and its cheaper for me lol
Yayyyy wish he made more content!!
Sweet! Another video!
Estoy ansioso de ver el siguiente video, ya quiero saber cuantos caballos va a arrojar con esta ultima modificación.
Your my mustang 3 valve hero. I have a beautiful 2008.
yessssss finally a new video
since the engine is going out, how about a new performance dual-disc clutch and a Tremec 6 Speed Manual Transmission? And maybe a new rear end?
Damm this 3v is going to be a beast
Oh boi I’m excited to see this! This project has been a great learning experience for me I want to trade my fox for a 3valve lol
If you port head doesnt it mean that you will lose more velocity? Remember when you deleted butterfly valves. If I m right that means you will lose even more low end torque. And putting turbos on top of that instead of somethink that will give you low end torque like supercharger... idk man. My guess is that you will have loads of power at top of the rev range but low end is gonna suck. *Correct if I m wrong* PS. Love the build either way. Keep up the good work.
Extra displacement will add some more bottom end
@@Beep00p Yeah you are right but how much? you said "some" but will it be enough for money that he spends.
Here's a link to an old article with some dyno numbers comparing stockish 4.6 3v and these stage 3 heads with comp stage 4 cams. Peak torque was higher in the powerband, but their numbers show more torque everywhere. www.mustangandfords.com/how-to/engine/mmfp-0812-livernois-motorsports-cylinder-head-upgrade
@@Beep00p Thanks!
In theory what you're saying about flow and velocity is correct. There can be shifts in the powerband. However, there may also be overall gains from increasing the efficiency of the engine. The heads do have higher cfm ratings and larger ports after being reworked, but that doesn't mean they'll lose bottom end (though some can.) There may have been something in the passageways that was technically adding velocity, but overall impeding the combustion process. The initial head architecture and porting work makes a real difference. For example, if someone just takes some heads and opens them up as big as possible they could lose power everywhere, yet only minor port work may result in bigger gains. Blah, blah, blah. Other supporting mods and tuning will also effect the end results and can change them one way or the other significantly, so lots of variables and can't say for certain how this exact combination will work out for him. Just my few cents, who knows! 🤷♂️ I'm excited to see the results myself
I am very excited to see how much HP you can squeeze out of the 4.6. Nate Ryder said they can only make around 500hp wheel max ( safely ) so I guess we will have to see! 3v LIFE!
That is on a stock bottom end this engine is fully built with cams and ported heads it will make a ton of power probably 1000 wheel with the right turbo.
I would love to build my engine like you are doing!
Can we note how sick that Mustang looks? I usually don't like the 05's but this one is done so right!
Hey thanks Luke ✌
im excited to see where it ends up at. I would like to do a head to head with your build being that I went the coyote direction. I am now a gen 3 swap car and pushing 426 hp at the wheel from longtubes, intake, and tune.
gen 3 swap? that is dope
I don't want to know what to expect Brad! I WANT NUMBERS!!!
Got a 2010 gt really cant wait to see what happens with the results
This is what i like to see. I have a 3v as well its cammed fbo and has rods n pistons u mentioned. Kinda wanna build it as well and boost but im a broke college student so im going to have to sell it
Damn, Four Eyes went all in! Imma stick with long tubes, Ford hot rod cams and heads.
I love your content quality over quantity Damn your going all out
Thanks Joey.
u should budget to get a stroker shortblock and also maybe you should consider getting a meth injection kit and try e85 after watching the full video i realized you went balls to the walls with your engine 💀
Wow, what a build this will be! If I had the coin I'd be going this route. I'll have to stick to stock displacement with upgraded heads for meow tho. Cant wait to see more! How much was the head work from Livernois? Will you be changing cams since the extra cubes will tone down the brenspeed rockers?
$3k 😕 ... depending on the results, I may change the cams. I dunno. Maybe. 🤷♂️
Go for it!
Great video and information and before and after sizing is a great visual specs. This car will be a beast! Can I ask what the heads cost and cost for porting?
He said the heads cost around 1300 don't think he mentioned the portting cost.
Porting was $3k. Do not recommend as it's obviously not cost-effective.
It’s exciting to see the 3V get so much build attention vs the semi-standard 5.0 swap for power. Have you heard of any issues related to the lifters at higher RPMs with the new setup ?
I haven't... the highest I'll rev this thing is probably 7,500 depending on how the chart looks up there.
A question on your cyl head that you have for sell in your store. The picture shows a right side head but your description says it is a left?
I'd personally have liked to have seen you install the heads on your 4.6 engine. That's what I'm running and would have been interested in the differences you would experience. I'm personally working in a different direction. I'm going to work on the handling end. Springs, shocks, anti-roll (sway) bars, Watts link in the sear suspension, better sway bar end links, higher quality front control arms, and like your GT a 1 piece driveshaft. Oh, an all-aluminum larger radiator just because I hate "modern composite" units. I personally think that 425 - 460hp is a great number but only if it's tractable and useable. I look forward to your future videos. Stay safe & healthy.
Thanks Lincoln. I probably won't track this car as it's my daily. Did everything all at once (heads + stroker kit) to reduce labor costs and time.
stop making me wait so long for these vids!!!!!!!! show us more around the build lol
Good to hear from u again. I was just thinking the other day, wonder whats up with 4eyes. So I just heard u say "1000" hp. In one of your 1st vids u said on the road to 700 hp. I've nvr heard of getting a 1000 out of a 4.6. Pulling for you!
I don't think you can get much more than 600 horse out of the 3V to be honest, and to me that is more than plenty. If you want 1000 horse, might want to look into modding a 427 aluminum block ford v8 :P
@@denniss4951 I agree, 600 sounds reasonable but still scary on a stock block. When u end up putting n a whole new engine then its not really a factory 1000 horse stock car any more.
