My heart skipped a beat when I saw that galaxy, floating so majestically in outer space, so gracefully for us to admire and look at. Crazy.
dude... you actually barely saw it... the camera captures a fraction of it
Can’t wait for it to crash into the Milky Way in a few billions of years 😃😊
You can see it if you know where to look. Because it isn't a sharp light but a fuzzy one look to the side a bit.
Actually you can see infinite galaxies at night but just that it'll be appearing as a star in the night sky
It's all amazing until it crashes into our galaxy
The fact that the light pollution has hidden this beautiful Glory of our night skies 😕

It is terrifying to now realize you can see the andromeda galaxy with your naked eyes considering it will collide with us
It won't collide with us for BILLIONS of years yet, and by then, humanity will have perished.
Oh also, we wouldn't feel anything if it collided with us tomorrow, there is more space than stars...
The HALO of Andromeda already collide with us and it more takes 5 million years to fully collide..
Blaaaahaahaaahaaa. Now that's funny !!
@@Cameron46what are you talking about
I live on top of a mountain with no light pollution and some nights you can just barely see milky way bands..if that is the right term lol it is truly amazing
Think of it more of like looking through a cloud llit by the city lights vs being in a light polluted area or not. Example, I live near the beach in a heavily populated area. Now when I look at the sky over the city I can't see anything except the brightest stars. But If I look out to the beach over the ocean where there are no lights I can see everything. Now If I move far from the beach to the otherside of the city and try to see the stars over the beach looking through the sky over the city then it will be hard to spot anything. So, if you're on the mountains where there isn't light pollution then your target also should be over an area without light pollution. So, for you straight up is the best area as there is nothing to prevent you from seeing
Me too it’s so great. I’ve seen a few dozen shooting starts as well as the bands!
If you're in the USA I think you can see it best in july
there is no place on earth that is not affected by light pollution, unfortunately.
@@joaboveaverage it is amazing!
Back in 1999, I was on the USS Boxer LHD4; somewhere between Hawaii and Iwo Jima. We had night flight ops going, so the only lights outside the ship were IR, and it was a new moon. There was ZERO light polution! It was so dark, you couldn't see your own hand in front of your face. It was hard to point out a spot WITHOUT a star. I pray i get to see the night sky like that again some day.

Never seen such a beautiful sky ever ✨❤️
I went to a Bortle 1 location in New Mexico once and I thought the Milky Way was clouds at first. And the sky is so overwhelmed with stars you can't pick out the constellations easily.
I attend Star parties, astronomy events, here in Canada, in very dark sites, and first time comers have the same reaction, they think it's cloudy when the Milky Way is out in all its glory! 😂
New mexico night skies outside of albuquerque are beautiful
Where I live the milky way also looks like clouds
I was in Carrabassett ME, which is on Bortle Class 2 and I too struggled to point out constellations amongst the sea of stars I had never seen before. it was overwhelming.

The fact that the Andromeda Galaxy is outside our Milky Way Galaxy, yet we can still see it is honestly kind of terrifying.
This is why nature is so beautiful where is the location?
somewhere dark, check light pollution maps online.
Oh alr thank you
I grew up near Chicago, Illinois so of course with the light pollution you wouldn’t be able to see many stars in the sky. But as my in laws and I made our way to Oklahoma one time and passed rural towns at 2am, I got to see just how many stars there were and saw that Geminid meteor shower! It was so incredibly fascinating! and now I live in Kansas bc of the military and the night time is so beautiful. I see what looks like millions of stars so easily scattered across the sky and I would feel so small, and the emotion I feel while looking up I can’t describe it! Outer space is so so beautiful to me!
The fact that the Andromeda galaxy is so close to us that we can see it already is terrifying because that means that it really is going to collide with our galaxy
there is so much empty space thag no stars will collide, they will just pass through each other and merge
@@ikilledaman oh there will def be some collisions after all the gravity fucks up, we already have planets colliding in our own solar system (how moons are formed) so when the density of celestial bodies increases that much, it's inevitable
Why are you terrified? Billions of years before it collide and all of us are dead for sure

It's incredibly amazing that we can see the Andromeda galaxy from Earth with our naked eyes even though it is 2.5 million light years away! And the light that we see today from the stars of that galaxy is about 2.5 million years old! So this is actually what the Andromeda galaxy looked like 2.5 million years ago! The Universe is soo incredible and magnificent! The Universe never ceases to fascinate me!

Same here in BC, at the Merritt Star Party, a woman was disappointed because of the clouds covering the stars...🤣🤣🤣
I remember seeing the seven sisters, both ursas, and so many more constellations clearly from the middle of the city in the 80s and early 90s. Now I can barely see the north star at night

Omg, I need to see that for two reasons. One: I'm obsessed with astronomy. Two: I have always wanted to see so many stars. Also was this in the northern or southern hemisphere, in summer or winter?
same 😭
Northern Hemisphere, you can very easily recognize Perseus, Taurus and Andromeda which are all northern constellations. As for time it depends. Judging from the position of the Pleiades and Ahlpa Persei clusters, this is looking eastward and the constellations shown are rising. If this takes place just after sunset, then its in October. If its just before dawn, then its June/July, so the range would be roughly June to October
I feel like each country should have an anual day where they turn off all of their lights and gaze into our night sky as a moment of relaxation
for what? also, a lot of people can't just decide to relax whenever you want

You seeing Andromeda there makes me seem a bit nervous about how it’s coming toward us and all that.
When I was in the army doing training to be a truck driver. One of the classes was at night to train on what's called blackout driving. No lights and all you have on is night vision goggle. I remember when I put it on and looked up at the night sky the whole sky was covered in glitter! It was the most amazing sight and I realized how little of the stars we see in the night sky. It was truly breathtaking
I didn’t think the Andromeda galaxy would be so close that we can admire it at night.
