Largest king cobra rescued

In all the 20 years I have been studying and rescuing king cobras in Agumbe, this remarkable male that I rescued on the 31st of March surprised me. While the average weight for males falls between 3.5 to 6 Kg and for females between 2 to 3.5 Kg, this massive king cobra weighed a whopping 12.5kg! Everything about this king cobra was huge in weight, length, and girth. Such rescues instil hope that king cobras of such size thrive in these regions, largely due to people's tolerance and the prey base they have access to. The best we can do is to ensure that these forests and animals continue to exist. Let's pledge to preserve our forests

  • The way you capture the King Cobra is very gentle and meticulous, that's why the cobra is not agitated and not fighting, unlike other snake hunter here in YT. Commended. Great display of expertise.

  • What a big boy! You do an absolutely incredible work for preservation of Ophiophagus. We clearly see here that the animal is never agressive but defensive and your technique of the bag is probably the best. It is just here a little to small for this king size. All the best and big big congrats for your field work.

  • Snakes are beneficial to farms, they keep the rodent population in check. Although venomous snakes are fearsome, they seldom attack unprovoked. And in the rare case they do bite a human, it’s mainly a dry bite, no venom is used because humans are not prey. Fear and greed drives us to exterminate animals.
